I recently took out a tooth myself (It was really wobbly). How do I know if it was an adult tooth or not?

After I took it out, one thing I noticed was that there was a bunch of red stuff on my gum where I took the tooth out. I had never seen that before. What is the red stuff on my gum? Does it mean that the tooth was an adult tooth? I'm so scared...

How old are you?
Reply:Keep the tooth, call a dentist %26amp; go in and see them.

If you are past the age of 13, chances are its an adult tooth. Red stuff on the gum if its not blood is probably just an irritated gum from the wobbly tooth.
Reply:how about going to a dentist and asking him? we can't see your teeth sounds like you haven't been to one in awhile anyway...ewee..he will be able to do an x-ray to see if there is another tooth under there.
Reply:Well it depends on how old you are? The red stuff may be an infection or dried blood. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash and see a dentist.
Reply:if your young its not probably a molar but if ur around 18 to 25 then its probaly ur wisdom
Reply:No, that's just excess gum tissue being pushed up by the big tooth coming in. don't worry. it'll be ok. If it came out, look at how big the root is. Baby teeth it's pretty small. if it was adult, it'd be about as big if not bigger as the tooth itself.

and don't worry about age, i have a 14 year old friend who still has a couple baby teeth.
Reply:You should have got all your baby teeth out by age 5 or 6.
Reply:Adult teeth have roots that are quite long, I'm sure you would know if it was an adult tooth! It depends on how old you are. The red was probably blood.
Reply:Unless there was a definite root present, you almost certainly pulled out a deciduous or "baby" tooth. Adult teeth have to be VERY far gone to come loose, or the gums around them have to be BADLY diseased. I recall seeing some gum tissue when my baby teeth came out, and also when my son's came out. As long as the site is healing well, it's probably nothing to worry about. If you ARE really worried, though, check with a dentist. To help the site heal, try rinsing with warm salty water a couple of times a day.
Reply:If you are 12 then it was probably a baby tooth. But to be safe call your family dentist and ask. Tell them the location in your mouth where it came out or visit the dentist.
