Teeth Surgery {Please read, important!!}?

What is it called when some of your teeth are horizontal and won't come in without surgery? I have that on my 2 top pointy teeth, and have to have surgery to bring them down and stuff. I was just wondering if anyone has had this procedure done and could talk to me about it. I already had one surgery for extractions [9, including 3 adult teeth] and am scared to have one more. I will be asleep in the hosipital for this one[ bad expierance last time] and was just wondering what i should expect. Any answers helpful!! Thank You!!

Teeth Surgery {Please read, important!!}?
I think you are talking about your canines being impacted? Usually what is done is called an expose and bond. This is where they uncover the teeth, attach a bracket and a chain, and attach the chain to your braces...if this is it, don't worry. Most of my patients tell me it feels like a bad pizza burn and not much more. I personally haven't had it done, but I have had 12 teeth extracted. You have already done the hard part. If you are going to be sedated, just try and relax and think of it as a quick nap. When you wake up, it'll be done. Follow the post-care instructions, they work, good luck!
Reply:Yes, usually both teeth are done at the same time. The bracket attaches to the canine, and the chain attaches to your braces. Report It

What does the Tooth Fairy give for teeth pulled by the dentist?

My 5 y.o.'s adult teeth are crowding out her baby teeth %26amp; she just had 3 teeth pulled today...any suggestions on what the Tooth Fairy should give for such an occasion?

What does the Tooth Fairy give for teeth pulled by the dentist?
The tooth fairy should give her what she would for a tooth that fell out on its own. Mommy should do something special for her because she went through a rough ordeal that was not of her own making.

Reply:a dollar a tooth, cause that doesn't sound like fun

then again, my friends gave their son a 2 dollar bill just for one tooth, wow, I remember getting a quarter or something
Reply:3 dollars and some balloons just for being so brave at the dentist office. That's what I did for my 5 year old .
Reply:a lollipop
Reply:$90000000000000000000000000

Reply:A trip to the dentist like that deserves a special treat from mommy too!! The next day I would take her to a movie, or the park, or something special for being brave. Also, let her put the teeth under her pillow and the tooth fairy should leave some cash--maybe a $5 or more.
Reply:5 bucks should do...you may also tell her that the Tooth Fairy got kilt falling off the roof that night too...If she think that the Fairy is dead, she will have no need for teeth money anymore. Problem solved...
Reply:I think the going rate is a quarter but that was when I was a kid. lol I guess its probably like a dollar now or something. :) Oh...I know...if u kept the teeth (which would be kind a yucky but whatever. lol) you can get a pretty little keepsake box to keep them in.
Reply:My kid's tooth fairy gives them $5 no matter what.
Reply:3 times the amount you would normally give. Ouch for your 5 yr old, hope shes not in too much pain.
Reply:This is nonsense. I used to get a dime. Whatever the going rate is, I would say half price because a dentist was involved and it is not a legitimate fall-out.
Reply:$10
Reply:she's getting the credit again that good old tooth fairy been a thorn in my side for a lot of years but being it was a dentist how about gold dollars instead of the usual.. makes it special[ and she's loaded anyway] I'd go with double the value that you give ..for each tooth and take him here and read tooth fairy ....freebie
Reply:A quarter,a brand new toothbrush with the likeness of her favorite character or of her favorite color, and a cupon for lots of hugs and kisses from mom and dad. Poor baby, hope she's doin okay.(presuming she's not feeling too well. . . )
Reply:Is there any toy (reasonabley priced) that your daughter would like to have? If so, I would leave an ammount that would pay for the toy under her pillow. It seems like a logical way to go about the situation.
Reply:since she was most likely more braver than most adults. give her five bucks under her pillow as the tooth fairy hires dentists to work for them when more than one tooth comes out. buy her a toy she may have wanted also for her bravery.
Reply:Beautiful is right i once read that the child should get a $1 per tooth-----------sooo he/she just earned three bucks...what i way of earning a living ha!!! i rather be broke!!LOL
Reply:For that I think a small toy might be more exciting than the usual money.
Reply:I got a dollar a tooth.
Reply:for one, ice hot pk, u dont give a kid who kust been to the dentist's office a lollipop! and ummm.....tell her that she was brave and.....buy her a stuffed animal and have a mommy and daughter day and maybe give her 3$.
Reply:As a mom of two who are now older I have to say one thing up front, be careful what you start as that will be the expectation from here on out. My son had to have several teeth pulled and we did tend to give him a treat afterwards due to his being so good at the dentist. We made it something small and never candy as they get lectured at the dentist for eating candy, drinking soda etc. I didn't want them to feel guilty for their treat. As far as cash goes we did a dollar a tooth as kids expect so much these days in allowance and such that we didn't want them to go on expecting huge dollars every time they have to undergo the dentist or anything out of the ordinary. We have given a 2 dollar bill because they are so cool as well in the past but never a lot of money as it seems to take on a life of its own. Kids learn early to negotiate and expect certain rewards, - it is all in what you are comfortable with and can afford. We also learned it is easier to find a nifty tooth holder for the tooth fairy as one child is a light sleeper and it was hard to sneak in. I found a cute tooth shaped pillow with a pocket in it which made it so much easier to take out and tuck in - plus it makes a neat keepsake for them.
Reply:tooth fairy lore has amused children for a long time now. putting a baby tooth under the pillow and waking to find some monetary gift is exciting for a child. dentist pulled teeth should be no different. provided the dentist relinquishes the actual tooth(teeth) some dentists are reluctant to give out pulled teeth. some break up upon extraction. why not treat these teeth the same as lost teeth ??? have fun with them as long as you can. the age of innocents vanishes quickly
Reply:u should give her $5 and have a little get together with the immediate family, with cake, and balloons.
Reply:It all depends on how rich the Tooth Fairy is.

However, the expectation of the receiver outweighs the expectation of the giver.

So to keep the receiver happy is to offer "silver", as this is the symbol for a long and fruitful life!!
Reply:nothin well mabe 5 bucks
Reply:$0.00 the dentist pulled it! the tooth fairy only comes when they fall becuase the fairy wants it.(naturally)..according to my 7 and 8 year old daughters.

The going rate is 5 bucks a tooth!
Reply:The tooth fairy leaves $10 a tooth for the first 2 at my house, then she gets cheap, lol. She leaves only $1.00. But with the dentist having to pull them, I would say they are worth at least $5.00.
Reply:Five per tooth that had to be traumatic! My 7 yr old was suppose to get his pulled but even with sedative and the gas he was getting so upset the denist stopped and said he wouldn't do it. That my son was just too upset and recommended put him to sleep for it.

Baby teeth?

I am 33 years old and never lost 2 of my bottom front baby teeth...they are healthy just tiny, my dentist did xrays and said that there are no other teeth under them(my adult teeth) he wants to pull them and replace them with a partial...I have always had them, had no problems with them...so why is he wanting to do this? And is it normal not to loose all your baby teeth?

Baby teeth?
I thought I was the only one... It is a genetic thing. I never developed those or my wisdom teeth. My dad and gma didn't get their wisdom teeth either. As long as it doesn't bother you then leave them alone. Dentist's are perfectionist. they will always find something the matter. BTW i am 32.
Reply:I have never heard of this but if there is no problem with these teeth I would just tell him to forget it if its not a bothersom to you I would just leave it be goodluck!
Reply:I think it is, I didn't lose two of my bottom teeth either, not the front two though
Reply:Well, some people just dont grow adult teeth, while others adult teeth dont grow down. Either way your stuck with a baby tooth. As long as those baby teeth are healthy and anchored in well to the bone DO NOT GET THEM REMOVED! Partials are NO FUN! They ruin your gums and there is nothing holding the bone in place if your dentist takes those baby teeth out! Just dont feel weird about it just know that other people have the same thing going on( like me) and keep them as long as you can!

Loose teeth, not quite three years old!?

My daughter is a few months shy of three. At her dental checkup, the dentist discovered her two front bottom teeth are slightly loose, and on the X-ray, the adult teeth are getting ready to come in! She (the dentist) was quite surprised and said her teeth might grow in crooked, but other than that there's no real problem and nothing we can or should do about it. She grew in all her baby teeth pretty early. Has anyone had a similar experience, or have any advice?

Loose teeth, not quite three years old!?
well i don't think you can do much. the teeth grows the way it comes out/ the way it does. your daughter might / have to get braces when she is older

Gums showing with teeth?

When i went to the orthodontist i found out the teeth on either side of my front teeth dont have adult teeth

anyways 2 make a long story short im getting braces soon and i currently have a retainer, when my orthodontist first asked me if i dont like anything about my teeth, i said i just dont like my space between front teeth (fixed with retainer) but ive noticed my gums show a lot and ive never noticed this before.

everything is already paid for in advance and planned on what we're doing. is it too late to say i dont like my gums showing?

if i do say something, what would happen to fix this problem.

if no answer for those questions how do i prevent gums from showing, and do braces affect how gums look afterwards

THANKS A LOT! :)

Gums showing with teeth?
They can't fix it if they don't know you consider it a problem. It's worth at least discussing, right!!
Reply:i have the same problem. my gums show, its annoying because i didnt have it when i was a kid but now i do. im 15. its annoying

Does getting your teeth pulled hurt?

I am 11 yrs old. I have had teeth above my baby teeth for like 2 yrs now. When I went to the dentist 2 yrs ago he said " Wait for your baby teeth to fall out under them"...(2 YEARS LATER) They haven't fallin out yet. And i need them to fall out or else the adult teeth cant move in. And unless i want fangs for te rest of my life...well I went to the dentist the other day (checkup) and they aint moving!. He has to pull them. And that very same day he has to fill a small cavity. Can someone explain what he is going to do (involving pulling my teeth). I am so afraid..I HATE dentist!!

Does getting your teeth pulled hurt?
they will give you small needle into your gum where the tooth is being pulled, and then once it has set it they will pull it. you will feel a pressure but it wont hurt. I have gotten 8 teeth pulled inclusing some baby teeth when i was ten and eleven years old. You'll be fine. I can't help you out with the fillings though because i've never had one.
Reply:not if they numb you enough!!!
Reply:nah it doesn't hurt, they did the exact thing to me when I was about your age. They numb it up and you don't even feel a thing.
Reply:They are going to numb you, and just .. well, pull the tooth out.

Yes, it will hurt.

But not as bad as getting your arm chopped off.

11 is a nice age. :) Im 12.

Good luck!
Reply:I hate the dentist too. Just make sure you tell him that! Seriously, tell him that you are deathly afraid of pain and want to make sure that you have no pain and no anxiety. They should be able to make you comfortable and extract the teeth. Just make sure to talk to him beforehand so he knows you are anxious.

Hope this helps! :-)
Reply:The shot may sting alittle, but you can ask them to pre-numb the area first before you get the shot. They use some sort of flavored gel to do this. Then there will be no pain whatsoever!
Reply:No it doesn't hurt. I got mine pulled yesterday. The worst part was when the dentist gave me a shot and I was numb. And it doesn't hurt after the numbness wears off!

Don't worry, you'll be FINE! :)

xoxox Glamourous Bella,

who has a gap in her smile!!! :)
Reply:It shouldn't hurt when they actually do it. I had a tooth pulled when I was a teenager and I remember I went in to the office. The nurse did some stuff to my mouth; she left. The dentist came in, looked in mouth with some tools. The nurse came back and asked me if I wanted to keep the tooth. I said sure, why not, she handed it to me in a little envelope. I didn't even know he took it out. There is some pain after the fact, but it's not unbearable or anything.
Reply:what they do is they inject you with a local anestetic that numbs you, the injection hurts coz its in the gum tho, then they will put like this vaccume thing to uck out all the spit and blood at the bottom of your mouth then he will get the pliers and yank away, it makes this horrible cracking sound and it puls your head about and aftarwards it bleeds, it doesent take that long to do but taking out baby teeth can be hard sometimes, there wont be alot of blood and ul feel abit sore aftarwards but its not too bad, the cracking sound is the worst.

Good luck
Reply:Just ask them to knock you out...
Reply:honestly, it's not that bad, especially if the tooth is loose because it will come out even easier, but even if the the tooth isn't loose they will hurt a little more, but because there baby teeth it won't be extremely painful or anything. If you look away and prepair yourself right before they pull your tooth out you won't even feel it!
Reply:yes it hurt but not a lot but i know you can manage it!!!!!!

go girl!!
Reply:Well it kinda doesn't since I had surgery to extract my wisdom teeth, and I do have experience how it feels without them and having cavity's filled. First to extract teeth, most dentists will give you a cup of fluid for you to not feel pain. Next, they will settle you down, tell you the procedures of how it will work, then your dentist will put you to sleep and might insert a gas through and vains and nose. The gas will make you relax and eventually put you to sleep. The detinst have several ways to extract it. Cut your tooth in pieces, extract it hole, or just extract the crown of the tooth and leave the roots.

Cavitys are different, no sleep, just a simple clean. You get more info from your dentist.
Reply:I had to have a baby tooth pulled when I was 8, and it did hurt even though I was numbed up. Then at age 13, I need 4 teeth pulled before I got braces because my mouth is too small for all my teeth. So I asked to be asleep for it. You might have to go to a different dentist that can do that, but it's worth it.

Puppy teeth?

I have german speherd puppy, who is nearly 4 months now (next week). this morning i noticed that 2 of his teeth were loose and later today one fell out. I have looked on the internet and found no useful information about teething.

Could you please tell me:

~when will his adult teeth be fully out?

~what can i do to make it less painfull (if it is painfull)?

~and also i have herd that most dogs start losing their puppy teeth at 4-6 months but he isnt 4 months just yet, so does this sound like him losing his teeth or could it be something else?

thanking you in advance

Puppy teeth?
I have a GSD too and when he was about 3 months to 6 months his teethe were falling out as the adult ones grew in. i wouldn't worry about it since all puppies are different. To help your puppy with his teething, i highly recommend buying a "Chilly bone" at Petsmart,Petco. Its awesome! what you do is soak the chillybone in water, freeze it the night before and give to him in the morning. THe cold helps the teethe %26amp; ease the discomfort. If you don't want to spend the money, simply take an old sock, tie it in a knot, soak it, freeze and whoola! they love it, and since Shepherds like to chew, this is perfect. Poor little baby...i love how fuzzy they are! They are the best dog you can own, very VERY smart so you can already start training on him now.....let me know if you need any help!
Reply:they loose them at different patterns as long as it is the front teeth first moving outward the same as humans almost they should be fine

some things you can do is freeze some chicken soup ice cubes or freeze a clean old rag twisted up they will chew on these and the cold will make the pain subside
Reply:Puppies start teething at about 3 months, starting with incisors, and by 7 - 8 months, they're done.

You can make sure he's got lots of things to chew on - nylabones, kongs, etc. Also, if you wet and then freeze an old face cloth and give him that to chew on, it's very soothing for the gums.
Reply:Your puppy is just fine, 4-6 months is just a range, it could be a little sooner or later. He isn't in any pain, so don't worry about that, just provide puppy chew toys for him. The process happens really quick, with my Akita it seamed like he lost his puppy teeth and before I knew it he had all of his adult teeth!
Reply:Pups start losing baby teeth around 4 months, but a week here and there is not a big difference. Your pup is likely losing baby teeth. Usually the adult teeth push the baby teeth out, so you should be able to see the adult teeth almost as soon as the baby tooth falls out. Sometime people don't even see the baby teeth fall out, as the pup usually ends up swallowing the tooth. But sometimes they fall on the floor or whatever.

Just make sure your pup has plenty to chew on during this time, or he may try to find something to chew on the ease the discomfort. But it's not really painful. I think it's just a bit uncomfortable for them.

You could give some ice cubes to chew on too if you feel your pup is fussy.

Ghost Teeth?

I took my 3 year old for a check up at the dentist and the x-rays showed that he had no adult teeth above his infant teeth. He's missing 1 front tooth and the two leading to the back from there. Anyone else hear about this and has this happened to anyone you know? He will have to get a bridge or surgery to place fake teeth into his gums eventually.

Ghost Teeth?
My dentist said that he's met a 23 year old girl who just had her milk teeth all through her life. I guess these cases happen more often than people think.

In the end, the girl had to get most of her teeth also pulled out and replaced with porcelains.
Reply:i have heard of it before and my friend had it.his 1st lot of teeth will stay in a lot longer because the 2nd teeth are not pushing down get to them out he will probaly have to 1st teeth for and exstra 5 all the way upto 30 possably.

Why would a two-year-old dog be losing teeth?

I have an almost two-year-old dog who has lost two adult teeth within the past year. Neither of these teeth had much root at all when I found them lying around. Do dog teeth not have much root to begin with?

His teeth are white -- there's no yellow or brown tartar buildup -- nor does he have bad breath or inflamed gums. He had no sensitivity when I pressed around his gums. He has no problem with eating. He's regularly given bones, but they're not nearly hard enough to yank a tooth out. So my main question is: what could be causing an adult dog to be losing teeth?

Why would a two-year-old dog be losing teeth?
Yes, dog's teeth have a LOT of root on them - the canine teeth in particular are like icebergs - most of them are under the surface!

I suppose there's a tiny possibility that your dog has only just lost the last of his baby teeth. These do not have roots on them. Rare at 2 years of age, but not impossible. However, it's more likely that he does have dental disease - if there was no root on these teeth and you're sure they were adult teeth, then that's a problem. Roots only disappear when they've rotted away. It is possible for this to happen under the surface without any evidence being visible in the mouth.

I advise you have the dog's mouth checked. A vet can tell you quite easily what's going on here.

Chalice
Reply:my cat lost her teeth when she was a kitten, just like we loose our teeth to have "grown-up" teeth come in....maybe that's what it is....?
Reply:Other than poor oral hygiene (which you say is not the case), I would have to guess poor genetics. Check with your vet. At this rate you may have a toothless dog before he's 5.
Reply:i think the dog should go to the vet or denitst ..lol..just kindin'....BYE
Reply:They're probably still milk teeth if they have no root, theres nothing to be worried about. Although if you are take him to the vet to put your mind at rest.
Reply:Is it a small breed dog? A lot of small breeds have retained baby teeth that don't fall out properly. Playing with toys can sometimes knock these teeth out. It your dog has retained baby teeth you should get your vet to remove them because they can trap bacteria and food and lead to periodontal disease.

It's not uncommon for dogs to break teeth off on bones. Dog's teeth do have roots. If the teeth did break, then it is likely the pulp canal (sensitive root) will be come inflammed if not infected. Keep an eye on your dog for excessive salivation, loss of appetite, bad breath, or pain or swelling in the mouth. Those are signs your pet should be evaluated.
Reply:Maybe it is an indication of something else going on internally - im not a vet so i cant tell you.

If they do some blood work to see if there is anything abnormal it will shed light. Also they are like people, it could be a calcuim or vitamin deficiency. Try changing up his food to something more healthy without fillers.

If all fails, I would make him go see the vet. Maybe they have a doggie vitamin? A treat with calcuim?
Reply:Strange one. Some breeds have poor dentition. I wonder what size the missing teeth were. Could they be late baby teeth? I would get a dental check done by the vet, just to be sure. Like us, sometimes tooth decay can sneak up on you!
Reply:tennismvp1994: god..where did u come up with your answer????? of course "kittens" loose milk teeths just like you did when you were a little kid. this dog is 2 years old which mean hes well into his late human teens...

Take him to the vet. that doesnt sound "normal" to me... id be pretty scared actually....

Why do my teeth hurt 1 year after having braces removed?

I had braces for 18 months to fix an overbite, overcrowded teeth. I had 4 adult teeth removed so there would be space for my other teeth to move back, fixing the overbite. It has now been a year since I had my braces removed and I'm experiencing alot of ache and pain in my front teeth upper and lower, because thats where I had an overbite, it's as if my teeth are trying to go back out of place, back to the overbite. When I put my retainers on, the pain usually goes away. If I leave my retainers out for more than 15 minutes they will start aching really bad. I am so tired of this, I want to be able to go out without having to wear a retainer, it's not fair, I thought I was going to having no trouble after braces, but look, I probably would have been better off not getting my teeth fixed at all, then I wouldn't be in so much pain. It's REALLY annoying! If anyone out there has or had this problem please tell me your story %26amp; advice %26amp; If anyone else has an idea whats wrong, plz hlp!!

Enamel missing on front teeth?

Since I can remember, once I got my adult teeth, I've always had divets in the front top two teeth, close to the gums. It doesn't go all the way across the tooth, it's in the very front middle where the teeth come together. I'm not sure if it's enamel or maybe lack of proper nutrition as they were growing in, but it seems to be increasing over time. You can't tell unless you're up close and looking for it, my teeth appear to be normal, but when you feel them and look closely you can see visible (for lack of better terminology) "worn places" in my front two teeth, as though someone sanded them down a bit or something. They're just as smooth as regular teeth, no extra sensitivity or anything. Any ideas as to what may have caused this? Better still, can it be fixed? If so, how much does that generally cost? Thanks for your help!

Enamel missing on front teeth?
A dentist can easily remedy that for you. It's just like filling in a cavity, and they use colored sets to match the color of your teeth so that it doesn't stand out. It may have been caused by an abnormal formation of your skull bone that pressed down on them while they were growing.

Your dentist should be able to fix it, and it shouldn't cost that much.
Reply:I am missing more than enamel. My teeth are like stars, they only come out at night.
Reply:I had the same thing... You might want to get verniers or porcelain caps. I have the top four done and it costs between $800 and $4000.
Reply:Sometimes teeth just grow in funny like that. The enamel isn't worn, or you would have sensitivity. Veneers would be the best bet to fix them. If you can't even notice it, I wouldn't worry to much about it.
Reply:I have the same thing a little because of having braces and the idiots sanding too much on the glue..I dont know if it can be fixed
Reply:i have the same problem and i don't know why..i take good care of my teeth. i had braces for so long and i feel likeit was a waste because my teeth still look weird. im afraid i might have to get verneers but im scared they might look fake. talk to your dentist for more detaisls
Reply:CALL MY OFFICE FOR FREE EXAM...SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED VENEER'S OR CROWNS, WE CAN'T BE SURE UNTILL WE SEE YOU. IT CAN COAST $600-$1200

Reply:I have the same problem with my 4 front teeth, and mine is from missing enamel. My dentist told me I need to put crowns on them to protect them, and for 4 crowns, the cost was close to $5,000. Needless to say, I haven't done anything about it yet, but if you can afford it, you should get it taken care of. Oh, and they can't fix it, but the crown protects it against more damage.

Help meee! my teeth hurt sooooooo bad omg help!! 2 in particular1 help ASAP?
At any local store in the health care isle there is this stuff that numbs up the area. It is used for canker swores but work well for every thing else in the moth too. I for got the name of it but ask some one they should know. You should use that till you see the dentist.
Reply:put oragel on them, or go ask a pharmacist
Reply:your teeth look fine you may have a cavity take some Tylenol or Advil if you re not allergic and put some anbesol until you can get to the dentist and tell your parents to get you an earlier appointment with the dentist
Reply:It could be a multitude of problems, could be decay that has reached the pulp of the tooth ( you might need a root canal), Or you could have an abscess which is an infection in the tooth and gum, VERY serious !!!! If its hurting really bad you should go to the dentist right away, call them back and tell them you need to be seen right away!

You might want to invest in an automatic toothbrush, i suggest oral be triumph with the floss action. BRUSH AND FLOSS!!!!!! You really can lose your teeth in the future if you dont, it's not just a myth.

Ohh also your teeth are fine... trust me ive seen a lot of teeth.
Reply:Go and brush your teeth real good..........Now go and put 1 teaspoonful of salt (table salt) in a 3/4 glass of water. Mix, then take a sip and swish around in your mouth..spit it out,

repeat until gone.

You can now rinse real good, then take a bottler of Hydrogen Peroxide (that you clean a sore, or a wound with) Pour a little in a glass then sip (not too bad a taste) swish around in your mouth, spit out repeat. ( It will feel bubbly in your mouth, but it is cleaning out bacteria left behind) You should feel some relief. Take 2 tylenol . Use orajel. try to get a good night sleep..... Visit your dentist! good luck!
Reply:you probably have an infection in the roots of your teeth. you didn't mention if you have any cavities that you can see. sometimes you can get cavities right near the gumline that you can't see. no need to be scared now. the dentist will let you know soon enough. good luck.
Reply:DO THIS!!! Right now, go get a glass of warm water, put some salt in it, stir it around, and 'swish' it around in your mouth. DO IT!!! It will take the pain away, instantly. The reason is, the pH level in your mouth is off, and the salt water will bring it back to normal. The reason it is hurting so bad, is because there is infection around the tooth. You need antibiotics. But until you see your dentist, the salt water should help. BELIEVE ME! I know your pain.
Reply:Go to the dentist. You need a root canal.

I am 14 and I still have baby teeth left. Is there anything wrong ?

I have at least 3 or 4 baby teeth left. and I am 14. could anyone tell is there is something wrong. Also the adult teeth are growing on top of the baby teeth and the baby teeth are still in with adult growing and also my baby teeth are still in. can anyone tell me whih are supposed to come out and with a clean pic of the tooth, thanks !!!

I am 14 and I still have baby teeth left. Is there anything wrong ?
i had one baby teeth left when i was 13. the dentist told me that it best that he pulls it out so the adult teeth dont grow on top. so my advice to you is to go to the denist to have them pull out so your promblem dont get wrost.
Reply:My Boyfriend is 28 and still has 1 baby tooth. he has to get it out soon tough, cause its starting to rot!
Reply:It's perfectly normal, your dentist will pull your baby teeth if your second teeth are coming through at an angle because of them. I'm 33 and still have two molar baby teeth! Stuck with those I'm afraid!
Reply:Perfectly normal =)
Reply:I had a baby tooth removed when I was 21. The second tooth was actually 'up my nose' and had to have it transplanted (didn't work). Nothing unusual in having baby teeth at 14.
Reply:No,there is nothing wrong with still having some of your baby teeth.I still had one baby tooth when I was 16 years old.The dentist removed it.
Reply:its past your bedtime
Reply:no way i still lost a tooth when i was 14. it all depends on your teeth i guess, your just a late bloomer, there's nothing wrong with that
Reply:it doesn't matter at all it is completely normal. I personally am 14 as well but i have lost all my baby teeth :)
Reply:there is nothing wrong with you, your normal just like anyone else

Reply:it's quite normal.

My daughter (9) has only lost 6 teeth, a friend of hers lost the whole set with his adult teeth by 9.

some people's teeth just take longer.
Reply:I lost my last baby tooth at 19, it was one of the pointy ones, came out as I was eating nesquick cereal, don't have no pics sorry, but was small and white, it had been pushed a little way in by my adult tooth, but once that came out, they leveled out nicely and I have a nice set of teeth.

Four month old Yorkie doesn't have full set of teeth. Is this normal?

Last night we just got a 4 month old Yorkshire (it's pretty big for its age). This morning I fed it and noticed that he kept swallowing his food so I checked to see if my yorkie had teeth and he has teeny tiny teeth growing in. He just has a few teeth only though. I read that puppies are suppose to have a full set of baby teeth at four monthes of age and at about 6 months there teeth will start falling off for adult teeth. Well, I'm not sure if it's his baby teeth thats growing in or adult teeth growing in. Is there any way to tell the two apart? Should I be worried?

P.S. Don't worry I stopped feeding him hard kibbles, I had to soak it in water so it could be mushy and safe to swallow without choking.

Four month old Yorkie doesn't have full set of teeth. Is this normal?
Where did you get the dog from? Did it come with any papers that might indicate a birthdate. The simplest answer is he might be older than you think and he is losing his baby teeth (since you said he is big for 4 months). If nothing else, call your vet and see what they say. Soaking the food in water is good for now- that's what I did when my Boston Terrier litter was weened from mom but not ready for hard food yet.
Reply:well your doing the right thing he could just be late loosing his teeth
Reply:It's probably still his baby teeth growing in, and maybe he's just a little late. that's normal. but if his baby teeth haven't grown in completly in 3-4 weeks you probably should take him to the vet.
Reply:His teeth will grow in when ready, but if you are still not satisfyed, call a vet, or go see one.
Reply:yep, its normal. and those baby teeth are so tiny that they almost seem worthless for chewing except the four lil needles at each corner(smile) you are doing the right thing.

My female yorkie is now only 8 months...she has most of her adult teeth and a few baby teeth are right there beside the adult teeth...Im working on getting those baby teeth out or she is in for a vet visit to get baby teeth pulled... My male yorkie had problems with his teeth too and had to have seven pulled. it doesnt affect his eating one bit.
Reply:Don't be worried. My poodles started to loose their baby teeth at about 4-5 months %26amp; the fangs should come out at around 6 months. Their baby teeth are really tiny %26amp; a full set of baby teeth aren't the same number as adult teeth. One thing that is common with yorkies is sometimes their fangs will not come out %26amp; the adult ones grow in behind them. If that happens, you'll need to have them removed right around the time you'd have him neutered.

Be sure you give him stuff to chew on since he's just like any other baby when they are teething. Maybe mix hard %26amp; softened kibble so he has something to chew on. And keep plenty of rawhide sticks on hand.

Congrats %26amp; enjoy your new baby!
Reply:They start to lose their teeth approx 15-16 weeks of age.. Which is 4 months.. He is losing his baby teeth in favour of his new and not so sharp adult teeth. It takes a while, be consistent in correcting if he starts to chew you or things in your house.. Let him know it's not okay to chew,, give him appropriate things that he is allowed to chew.

Yorkie and baby teeth?

I have a yorkie my first small dog {by the way I am not one of those want to be Paris Hilton girls, I knew the breeder and the pup was a runt who had some health problems and he was going to put her down and I had the funds to help her so now she is the love of my life, I also I have a 60Lb rescue.} Anyways she is going to get fixed the first of next month, she is 7 months old and she has two rows of teeth her baby teeth and now her adult teeth are coming in but the baby teeth are not falling out. Is this common, the vet said sometimes they pull the back teeth due to them falling to fall out but has never mentioned the rest of their teeth. Please, is this common or an issue?

Yorkie and baby teeth?
Yes, it is common for little dogs. Usually it's just a few teeth, but sometimes more. If she hasn't lost them at 7 months they will need to be pulled. Leaving them will let food get caught in between her teeth causing bad breath and poor gum health.
Reply:this happened to my pom - i think it's common in small dogs - the vet pulled out 3 baby teeth when he was fixed - it is the top front row - that was my dog's problem.
Reply:it is not normal, they should fall out and if not your vet needs to pull them out or maby give her something very hard to chew on
Reply:This is not uncommon in toy breeds. The vet can pull the baby teeth when she gets spayed.
Reply:It's very common, no need to worry over it too much. I worked as a Vet Tech for years and I myself would routinely remove the deciduous baby teeth from young dogs whos extra teeth have not fallen out by the 6th month.

Most vet clinics will do this simple procedure while the patient is still asleep from the spay / neuter. Good luck with it.
Reply:this happened with my friend's weiner dog (it was his front teeth too). give it some time, if they don't fall out on their own, you may have to have the vet do it. it isn't too expensive. when you bring her in to get fixed, have the vet take a look and see what they say.
Reply:Call your vet and tell them you want your Yorkie's baby teeth to be checked and extracted if neccessary at the time of the surgery for her to get fixed. That's what is happening to my puppy, Buddy. His baby fangs haven't fallen out and his new teeth are well ont heir way to coming in and the one tooth looks like its pushing the new tooth forward in the mouth. They are hesitant to put him under before as he has a heart murmur and they want him checked out before his surgery. He's on vtamins now.

Child's teeth didn't grow in???

My child is 5 years old and all but one baby teeth has grown in. Almost all of his baby teeth have actually almost fallen out. I didn't know if this was normal, i read online that all of his baby teeth should be grown in my 4 but can not find anything about teeth not growing in... Any body have this happen, is this normal or should we be concerned that his adult teeth will not grow in?

Child's teeth didn't grow in???
Wait you said his baby teeth didn't grow in then you said they almost all fell out? Did you mean that his baby teeth grew in %26amp; they all fell out %26amp; You are waiting for his permanent set to grow in?

Do you take the child to the Dentist? I would call them if you are concerned.
Reply:I'll be 29 in July and I still have 2 baby teeth. There were no adult teeth that developed under them. My mom didn't have wisdom teeth on the bottom. So it is something that happens that a person does not develop a tooth. His dentist should be able to do an X-ray to determine what is going on under the surface and if any measures need to be taken.
Reply:Has the dentist said anything? I'd assume at his annual check-ups he'd talk to you about this if it were an issue.

I found this site that talks about missing teeth and the causes of it. It's a rather technical read, but you can always google any of the terminology that you don't understand if needed. good luck.
Reply:By age 5 your son should have had at least 8 dental appointments.

Baby teeth hold space for the adult teeth and help with chewing and speaking.
Reply:take him to the dentist both my litle brothers are missing baby teeth and adult teeth under some of their baby teeth:( one is 4 and one is 10- the dentist will give you some options
Reply:he should see a dentist if you are concerned!

Help whitening teeth?

I have a rare dental condition called dentinagenesis imperfecta or something like that which runs in my family. My baby teeth were brown (yuck, I know) and my adult teeth are much better. However, they're still not as white as I'd like them to be, and they're pretty dull looking. I brush my teeth 3 times a day with a whitening toothpaste and use Listerine Pre Brush Rinse. I think that it might help a tad, but I'm not really sure. Would Crest White Strips work on my teeth? What about one of those laser whitening things? My sister and father both got veneers, but my teeth aren't as bad, and they're expensive and hard to maintain. Help please!!!!!!!!

Help whitening teeth?
What I do is I have a tiny plate where I put baking soda on. So when I brush my teeth I dab my toothbrush in the baking soda and than I put on the toothpaste (make sure your toothbrush is wet before dabbing the baking soda). Then I brush my teeth for 3 minutes exactly. Instead of spitting it out right away take some mouth wash and rinse your mouth with the toothpaste and everything.

Than you spit it out. Then I take the toothbrush and rinse it and dab it in the baking soda again. I brush my teeth for two minutes with plain baking soda. (It might taste funny but its sooo worth it) Then I rinse with mouth wash again. I finally take the mouth wash and rinse with nothing in my mouth. Than I floss. My teeth were 3 shades whiter in the first 7 days I used baking soda in my teeth-brushing routine. BTW, I suggest not having a lot of soda in your diet because its not good for your teeth. DONT DRINK OR EAT ANYTHING FOR THE NEXT HOUR.

The thing is, baking soda fights stains in a TOUGH way, it also kills germs and leaves your breath smelling great, GERM-FREE.

Hope this helped. I deeply wiish you luck with this method. I love how you didnt lose your confidence with this rare dental condition. Stay strong. God bless you and your family. I wish you success with healthy white smile.

:)
Reply:go to a dentice and they will wightin them with a laser !~
Reply:you have to brush real hard
Reply:basically brush, floss daily, dont somke, dont drink acidic drinks IE coca cola, visit your dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and check up :)
Reply:You could try swishing a little peroxide in your mouth. Don't swallow it, just swish for a little while. Its a cheap alternative to whitener. I would check with a dentist before trying b/c I don't know if it would bother your condition. It makes my teeth whiter.
Reply:You could try whitening strips first - I use the Rembrandt ones and really like them, they stay on pretty well and taste minty. You should consult a dentist if you cannot get the level of whitening you are wishing for (I don't know about your particular condition). The Rembrandt ones I use are probably a lower amount of hydrogen peroxide but the dentists have access to much stronger formulations if you should need one.

Is it right to have to have two teeth extracted for Braces? :(?

I'm 15 and went to the orthdontist before. He told me to get two adult teeth taken out thenin 2 weeks he'll put spacers then braces etc. BUT my other teeth haven't all come through yet! So don't all your adult molar teeth have to come through first? %26amp; I don't want to get the teeth taken out because I've already got visible gaps from baby teeth falling out!!

Please tell me if you know this is normal and fine, or if there's anyway I DON'T have to get teeth taken out!! Thankyou!!

Is it right to have to have two teeth extracted for Braces? :(?
im pretty sure that the ortho will know what he is talking about. you dont need your adult molars. i currently have braces, and they dont put anything on your adult molars. the ring thing that the wire attaches to goes on the other molar. you normally want to have all your baby teeth gone before they put on braces, so that when it does fall out it does grow back in weird and move your teeth. im guess that if you have some spaces from baby teeth you recently lost, if they grow in enough, theyll stick a bracket on it. if you are really worried, stop by and ask him to explain it to you.

EDIT

oh yeah, i forgot to add that if your teeth are really crooked, getting some taken out would be a good idea. it would allow for more space in your mouth, and in the long run better/healthier teeth!
Reply:If you don't want the teeth out, ask your orthodontist what will happen if you don't get them out. If he/she is still willing to treat you and you can accept the compromised outcome, just don't get them out.

However... It is NO BIG DEAL to get these teeth out. 99 times out of 100, the kid (usually 11-12 years old - NOT 15) can't believe they are out. Don't worry about the extractions.

And, you say that you are worried about the visible gaps, but the plan would be to close up those gaps.
Reply:I thought the idea of braces was to straighten and strengthen teeth already there .... having 2 removed would seem totally counter-productive. Though I'm no dentist it doesn't seem right ...unless the teeth he's going to remove are impeeding some that haven't come through yet ... I'd think I'd be going and getting a second opinion from another orthodontist
Reply:click on the link from the source section.... everything you want to know is there from someone's story. They had the same concern.

One very common question on our Metal Mouth Forum involves extraction. Often, adults may need teeth extracted to make room so their other teeth can move into their proper positions.

Extractions and Children: Be Careful!

What about children? Personally I do not advocate tooth extraction in children because they are still growing. Years ago, extraction for children was common, but this is not the case today. Some orthodontists still routinely extract children's teeth. If you encounter this, please seek several additional opinions before making your decision.

There are many other methods that can be used to meld children's jaws to make room (palate expansion, headgear, or guided growth methodology). Extracting teeth from children can result in less than optimal facial aesthetics. In other words, you child's face may not wind up looking as good as it could have, because it will grow longer and flatter instead of fuller.

One exception involves a Class III malocclusion. Class III cases are technically much more difficult and often involve jaw surgery. If you need more information about Class III malocclusion, read about it in our FAQ.
Reply:I'm not sure if they did the right thing, but I had two teeth extracted before they wired me with braces. Eventually, it looked okay. The thing is, they're the experts and if we don't trust them, we can drive ourselves crazy.
Reply:do what doctor advises and ofcourse you seek your parents help
Reply:When I got my braces they took two of my upper teeth out. they said this would leave room for the teeth to move towards the rear. If you don't wear your headgear you will be waisting money and time. The faster you can get your braces off the better. Please wear your headgear.

You may feel self conscious wearing the braces, but I think I was lucky in love while I was wearing them. I think they gave me a sense of humility and a very shy smile. It was a killer combination for the ladies.

Good luck to you. You can always get a professional second opinion.
Reply:When I started my braces extravagaza in like 6th grade I had to have 6 teeth pulled before they could start orthodontic treatment... Ive had adult teeth taken out as well.

It may not make sense to take out perfectly fine teeth but usually its due to crowding or if your teeth are crooked in order to move them straight they need more space...

to your question of is it right... well... if you think its right to have straighter teeth than perhaps it is the best treatment method. Remember your ultimate goal is to have a beautiful smile with straight teeth, otherwise you wouldnt be visiting an orthodontist. If you think its not normal(although I think that they usually have a reason for the things they do and know what results it would produce) then go get a second opinion at another orthodontist.

Personally, although it sucked to get 6 teeth pulled in one day... the results and compliments I get on my straight teeth today and the boost of confidence I have as well was well worth the short time span of being uncomfortable... and im happy I dont have an overcrowded mouth anymore too. :-D
Reply:Is your jaw to small to accommodate all your teeth?that is what my problem was i had four adult teeth removed when i was a teenager and i have a beautiful and straight smile.if you dont trust that dentist get a 2nd opinion but he is dentist (a doctor of teeth)I had spacers and rubberbands youll feel dorky for awhile but the end result is worth it.
Reply:look, if you have crowded teeth, thats why they're takent hem out. in the end after they puy braces on, the braces are gonna close the gaps of those extracted teeth.

2 tone teeth ??

a few of my front teeth have always been 2 tone, ever since I got my adult teeth. What I mean by 2 tone is. theres a little part at the bottom of my teeth thats always way whiter than the rest of my tooth. I've tried whitening to get my teeth the same shade of white, but the parts that are whiter, just brighten up with the rest of my teeth and its still noticable. Does anyone know what causes this, and how I get rid of it? Other people say they cant notice it but I notice it every time I open my mouth and it drives me nuts.

2 tone teeth ??
I lost all the enamel on my two front adult teeth when they came in and they were pretty speckled, almost brown and white. My dentist (now this was 15 years ago), sanded them down and now they are all the same shade. This is something you should prob talk to your dentist about.
Reply:a few kids at school have that and said its like calcium or something that i dont think you can get rid of. i myself have a molar thats a little darker on top and yellow on bottom...personally i think its disgusting but the dentist said its just lack of enamel so i need to use flouride toothpaste...

you could try just whitening your teeth so they match? im not sure...good luck! :-)
Reply:hmm
Reply:Staining can be caused by antibiotics taken when the teeth were forming, particularly tetracycline. If it's really bothering you, see a dentist about having veneers put on the teeth that will cover them and give a uniform color. The stain is not superficial and will probably not respond to standard topical bleaching, so you need something that actually covers the stained tooth surface.
Reply:IT COULD BE DUE TO A DIFFERENCE IN THE ENAMEL LAYER OF YOUR TOO DUE TO A FEVER OR INFECTION WHEN THE TEETH WERE FORMING. COULD BE DUE TO DECALCIFICATION OF THE ENAMEL. ONE OF THE BEST WAYS WOULD BE VENEERS THESE ARE MINIMALLY INVASIVE AND WILL NOT DISCOLOR.
Reply:just ask your dentist to whiten your teeth and it will go away or ask him if he knows how to fix it
Reply:Well A few people at school that i know had that and i asked why they said it was a cavity i don't know if that has anything to do with it but if you ask your dentist they help alot also you should use fluoride tooth paste I for instants bush my teeth 3 times a day maybe 4 times because I have braces,But be careful when you brush and know what your doing just incase i hope i help.

I have really bad rotten teeth and they're falling apart really bad. Anybody else ever have this?

When I was almost 3 I had to have all my teeth pulled out cuz they were so rotten. I don't remember that, but I do remeber I had no teeth til I was in 3rd grade. When my adult teeth came in they were already rotten. I don't have any enamel on my teeth and they were never very white. They're more a sort of a brownish yellow, with dark brown places and holes in them. Pieces break off a lot and I had to have a lot of my back teeth pulled out already. What I have left is falling apart. I want to just have them all pulled out, but the dentist I went to said he wouldn't do it cuz I'm only 12 and they can be saved but it will cost a lot. I'd rather go toothless like before than be stuck with ugly teeth that are always breaking, or sit thru alot of work. Besides my mom said it will cost almost as much as our house and we can't afford it. My mom had all her teeth pulled out and she got fake teeth when she was in high school. I'd rather do that too, or just stay toothless like I was before.

I have really bad rotten teeth and they're falling apart really bad. Anybody else ever have this?
I would imagine that having your teeth pulled out is about the only option along with replacing them with false teeth. The thing is that at your age your mouth is still growing which is probably one of the reasons your dentist is reluctant to do anything now. When the time comes you don't have to make the most expensive choices . You can get false teeth at a reasonable price and they last a long time.I can only imagine how you must be feeling with such a dilemma. As hard as it is, try and be patient , the time will come when something can be done. In the meantime ..... I'll wish for you the biggest most beautiful smiles : ) take care k
Reply:No, don't do it. If you have lots of money, veneers are the way to go. But if you don't, don't consider transplants.

Don't have no teeth, that's such a turn off and worse than rotting teeth.
Reply:i added your question to my watch list because i am truly curious as to the cause of your problem and how you will handle it.

i am far older than you are and still have most of my teeth. my top teeth look very nice and straight, but because a dummy dentist pulled a bicuspid when i was a little girl and never put a bridge there (bottom), my bottom teeth came in crooked. they are gradually pulling apart. sometimes one will become abcessed and so painful i need to go to the emergency room--that pain can make you literally scream every time you move your mouth! i am certain that (since i never had an abcess up on the top teeth) this too is a result of never getting a bridge! if the teeth pull apart unnaturally, then germs can get into the gums a lot easier, so i think.

my goal is to keep my teeth. i know others that had all their teeth pulled because of some of the same problems that i have. but i do not need to have them pulled and will not: my friends that did get into pain from their dentures. when they take them out, their mouths pucker inward. some of my friends would rather wear chadors than let anyone see that they do not have natural teeth! they have pain chewing.

i hope you can, perhaps, get to a university-based dental clinic to get the work done. i really and truly suggest that you keep your natural teeth. a dentist would not say he refuses to pull them if he did not think that fixing them will be better for you in the future. you might also wish to speak to a therapist/psychologist about how you feel about yourself with this problem. it must be hard on you.

good luck!
Reply:i have never heard of this happening to children.i cant believe it.what caused this for you and your mom?i wish you luck.you can find a dentist that will take partial paymentsw also.
Reply:I am so sorry you have to go through this. I hope the best for you and keep your head up

Yellow teeth?

I'm 19 years old and have naturally yellow teeth. When I was little I had normal, white baby teeth, however when I lost my baby teeth my adult teeth grew in yellow instead of white. It makes me so self conscious and I absolutely hate it. Are naturally yellow teeth a common occurance? Is it some type of disorder? And since they have always been that colour, home whitening products won't work. Would the only way to whiten them be to have them done at the dentists for thousands of dollars? Thanks.

Yellow teeth?
yeh when i was little i had gorgeous white baby teeth, and then when my big teeth came through they came through yellow, mine are mottled too so i'm going to have to get veneers on mine. I find that whitening products don't work so yeh i reckon you'll have to get them whitened.
Reply:i have the same problem...

but the dentist told me tat they came out yellow b/c of the fluride??? Report It

Reply:no whitening may not help it could be a disorder is it in your genes?
Reply:Yes, if the over the counter products do not work then go ahead and whiten them at the dentist which is done proffesionally. I hope I helped you.
Reply:its genetics , you just have to deal with it
Reply:I had buddy with yellow teeth I never knew it wasa natural thing... I though he did brush them. If they're naturally yellow how would they make them white?

If it helps I'd go to the dentists and spend whatever amount to have them whitened because believe me it'll effect you everwhere you go.
Reply:mine are yellow but no that yellow that u can tell only when you put somthing white next to them e.g. toothpaste but other that that im find but i think it might be in your genes does your mom and dad have white teeth?? try the whitening products again but try less teeth staining foods e.g coffee and alot of sugar products for a while
Reply:dont spend that kind of money until you have tried this: I am using the professional whitening kit from WWW.WHITERSMILE.COM.AU... I was told nothing would whiten my teeth as they were stained from medication when I was young... this stuff is inexpensive and AMAZING! I really cannot belive the difference it has made and I havent even finished yet! you even get a remineralisation gel to keep your teeth healthy (enamel etc). check it out as m next step was to get porcelain veneers!

P.S. this is the same strength peroxide used in dental clinics so if this doesnt work then the dentist wont be able to whiten them either and you'll have to look at veneers...
Reply:i think all baby teeth are white and adult ones naturally come out yellow. mine are like that too and everyone else i know.

Permanent teeth often look more yellow than primary teeth. This is normal. But it could also be caused by medicine your child took, by an accident that hurt a primary tooth, or by too much fluoride. Ask your dentist about this when you go for a check-up.

i would use oral-b rembrandt whitening strips or crest because they work pretty well and only cost about 40 dollars
Reply:The only cure would be veneers. You could probably get away with 4 in the top front. They could be made somewhere between white and the yellow that yours are. That way, they won't contrast too much with your other teeth.
Reply:maybe if you would stop biting on yellow markers..

Surgery AND braces to fix my teeth?

i need surgery on my teeth b/c my adult eye teeth arent coming down, the right one is still the baby tooth which is "loose" (to my dentist not me) and the left has fallen out but the tooth next to it rotated and grew into both places so the adult tooth of the left shifted where its right under my nose so i need surgery and braces to fix this problem and im really nervous

if anyone has had this done or knows someone who has please help

how was the surgury?(ive never had any type of surgery and am new to this) how bad did it hurt? were you or the person you know asleep or awake? how long did it take to recover? did it hurt to eat afterwards? did you stay out of school? and any other information is greatly apperciated

Surgery AND braces to fix my teeth?
I had an impacted cuspid (one of the fang teeth was coming out of the roof of my mouth). They had (through surgery and 8 weeks of repeat visits) to move it to its correct position, then use braces to get it straight. It was very uncomfortable, unfortunatly. I was awake, but they used local anestitc.

Yes, it does hurt to eat for a few days and you will only be able to manage soft food. I was only out of school for 1 day.
Reply:I am not a docter but i know someone who had this braces placed on his teeth. I would have it done, as in the long term it really does help to straighten out her teeth. Yes, i will hurt for the first week or so, but after that you learn to accept that you have stands of metal placed inside your moulth. Honestly, talk to your dentist, if he is good he should run you through the ups and downs of having braces or surgery. Good Luck

6 teeth in 3 months?

My son has lost 6 teeth in the last few months, 2 of them this week alone!!! Is this normal? I see where one that came out a week or so ago is already having an adult tooth come in, but right now, he only has 2 of his 8 front teeth completely there. Those 2 are permanent teeth. Another permanent tooth is about half way in. He eats a fairly balanced diet when he's not being mr. picky. He gets loads of vitamins C though, he loves oranges and gets juice and a multivitamin everyday. I can't think of what could be wrong, if anything. Can someone please help to ease my mind, or let me know what to do?

6 teeth in 3 months?
I lost all of my teeth in two years when I was 8-10. I wouldn't worry, because I remember losing 3 in one week and all my permanent teeth came in fine.
Reply:My son lost 2 teeth in one day..and one tooth following it every day for 3 days...boy was the "tooth fairy unhappy" I had actually asked the dentist if this was normal..and for many kids it is...the adult teeth all move into place at the same time, so they loose a lot of teeth all a sudden...my son eats healthy and well balanced it doesn't have to do with diet..it's just the way he is...not all of my sons baby teeth are out yet..only about half, and he hasn't lost a tooth in months..

My teeth feel loose. What should I do? !?!?

My gums surrounding my front teeth have suddenly started to lower. On my teeth there is a yellowish line where the gum used to be. Its happened over 24hours. Teeth are VERY loose. Emergency dentist in 16hours. I need something to help it, Im afraid I wont have any teeth left! These are adult teeth!

Please help!

My teeth feel loose. What should I do? !?!?
GO QUICK! Your gums are wearing away and you have an infection in your gums. Sometimes they have to remove your gums (not very painful.) Get there fast.
Reply:sounds like u might have an infection or gingivitis... might wanna go to a dentist.
Reply:quite often the teeth aent actually loose. they just feel it coz of gaps between ur teeth n the motion of the tongue on them. hard to explain but its prolly just paranoya. the yellow should go with a good clean, unless the enamel has actually been eaten away, in which case the dentist will have to fill the gap or take them out.
Reply:Loose teeth are sign that something is wrong since teeth are not supposed to move. Regardless of the cause, these teeth must be treated to prevent further problems. The most common cause is loss of supporting bone from periodontal disease. As the bone melts away the teeth are no longer held well. The first step in preventing bone loss is doing scaling and root planing. After initial treatment, the tissue and bone are reevaluated to determine the need for periodontal surgery. If the teeth bother a patient, they can be bonded together to prevent movement (splinting).

Another reason for loose teeth is from accidents or trauma. It is very important to visit a dentist immediately after an accident. The dentist can often reposition the teeth into their original positions and hold them in place using bonding. Tooth movement can come from tooth grinding. The trauma from grinding can make teeth mobile. Many of these patients have a TMJ and headache problems that can often be successfully treated. Teeth can also become loose during orthodontic treatment. The pressure of the orthodontic wires widens the ligaments holding the teeth in their sockets. In most cases, this mobility disappears after the braces are removed.

Loose teeth can come from partial dentures being held in the mouth by hooking on existing teeth. The pushing and pulling on the anchor teeth can cause these teeth to become mobile. It can also be caused by a dental abscess or by osteoporosis. Tooth mobility is always a sign that something serious is happening and you should visit a dentist. If not, the continued movement can accelerate the damage to the supporting bone.

The cause of the loosening must be found and treated.

Treating the gum disease that has caused the loosening can firm up the teeth.

Teeth loosened by malocclusion (bad bite) can firm up when the bite is corrected by orthodontic treatment and/or replacement crowns.

The new crowns will fit over the natural crowns.

They will be made to correct the previous imbalance in the size and position of the teeth.

Teeth that are loosened by a grinding habit can be firmed by wearing a night guard, that fits over teeth and prevents grinding. It is usually worn at night.

Teeth loosened by a blow often firm up with time.

Resting the loose tooth is important.

Try not to chew on it for a while.

If these measures are not successful, the loose teeth can be stabilised by joining them to firmer ones, using a splint.
Reply:There are little animals and worms living in your teeth and they are pushing the teeth outward. Ok...I may not be much help, but when i was little that's what happened.

hehe :]] kidding.
Reply:your gums are not in good shape right now - i wish you luck - i have had loose teeth in the past and with proper dental care - ie gentle tooth brush hydrogen peroxide - flossing - gar ling - i had gotten them back to being tight.

5 month old puppy Spay/puppy teeth removal?

I'm not certain, but my 5 month old female mini chihuahua may be going in to heat. No blood, but she is licking the "area" down there. I want to have her spayed ASAP, but the vet said we should try to wait until her puppy teeth fall out. His reason is because some small breeds' puppy teeth (some) never fall out, therefore causing the adult teeth to come in "crooked".

-Do I spay her now and forget about the teeth?

-Do I spay her now and have all her puppy teeth removed surgically so to make certain the adult teeth don't have problems coming in?

-Do I wait and risk her going in to heat? (Which I HATE the thought of)

Advice would be great!? Thanks!

5 month old puppy Spay/puppy teeth removal?
If this was my dog I would have her spayed now and have her puppy teeth removed while she is under anesthesia. That way you will avoid her heat cycle, which can be good for her health, and you will KNOW that her puppy teeth are out, so there are not teeth complications. You might have to pay a little more for having the teeth removed. But puppy teeth aren't usually too hard to remove. Their roots are not nearly as long as an adult tooth.
Reply:Get her fixed. And get a new vet. Yours sounds like a whacko. Puppy teeth sometimes don't all come out until the dog is a year old. Do you want her to be in heat until then? Do you want puppies?
Reply:It's not uncommon for dogs that are 5 months old start their heat cycles. The average is about 6 months anyway.

I would get her spayed and forget about her baby teeth. My vet spays and neuters around 4 months of age, and he's never mentioned pulling baby teeth. Your vet makes a valid point about some dogs who never loose their baby teeth, but maybe he's just looking to make some more money by telling you to pull the teeth as long as your dog is sedated. He'll probaby try to tell you that if you need to have the dog's teeth pulled in the future, she'll have to be sedated again and that'll cost you extra, but don't give in to his pressure. Do what you feel is right, not what he wants you to do. Put the emphasis on getting your dog spayed, and worry about her teeth if and when they ever pose a problem.
Reply:Listen to your vet, he's qualified and educated to be able to tell you good advice. I wouldn't risk teeth, I'd just keep her strictly indoors.

Seriously, your vet studied this for years. He actually knows what he's doing, having the teeth removed surgically I think is a bit overkill.
Reply:You don't want to risk a heat cycle. If you spay your dog before her first heat cycle she has no more than a 1% chance of developing mammary cancer. After her first heat her chances go up to 8%, and after her second heat they shoot all the way up to 28%. I think that risking having to pull teeth later is worth it. I would not want my dog's teeth pulled unnecessary.
Reply:That sounds nutty.. I say get her fixed and don't worry about the teeth. I have never heard that before.

Get a new vet.
Reply:My Vet recommends spaying at six months or older for reasons of hormones and development. Some dogs do come into heat earlier, but she could also be paying attention to the area if she has any infection, so you might want to get her Vet checked to make sure it isn't the latter.

I had a German Shepherd Dog that went into heat just before turning six months old and I just waited until her first heat was fininshed and got her spayed immediately after.
Reply:i would go in person and let the vet look at her one of my chihuahuas had trouble with her teeth and one didnt!and remember ...when the little breed dogs get fixed it sometimes looks really bad and takes longer to heal than the bigger dogs...i guess they have thinner skin .the doctor said it would take time and i just cried when i would look at her belly but it looks real good now ...just watch it and have time for ur dog cause they like to lick on stitches ...definately need to watch in case they want to chew at their belly
Reply:Your vet is an IDIOT %26amp; YOU need a DIFFERENT ONE =ASAP!!!

SPAY TOMORROW don't worry about stupid puppy teeth!!!

Do NOT pull ANY until, at LEAST 9-10 mons! Then you KNOW (instead of stupid FORTUNE-TELLING!!) if ANY need to be pulled .They usually do NOT!!
Reply:Go ahead and get her spayed ASAP. What on earth has that got to do with her teeth? That vet is out for the big bucks for sure! If her teeth are OK, leave them alone.
Reply:My advice is to go to another vet. I have #9 Chihuahuas, and I wouldn't worry about the teeth. They will take care of themselves. I would just go ahead and get her spayed.

Pomeranian baby front teeth at one year +???

I have this fab black Pom (see my avatar). He is the most wonderful creature, with a great physique. The only thing is, he did not lose his baby teeth by himself. I took him to have them pulled at one year at the Humane Society, but because only ONE his adult lower two middle front ones had "erupted", they left the two baby teeth, right in front on the bottom. Then, when i went back, they said just to leave it as is and see what happened. The vet agreed when I showed her afterwards.

Now, three months later, those two baby teeth are getting more and more worn down, but there is still just the one adult tooth showing behind. And they look too small anyway. It doesn't ruin his "smile" (tongue covers them when his mouth is open) , or show any decay, but I want to do the right thing. Suggestions or solutions from experienced folks, Please?

Pomeranian baby front teeth at one year +???
"Double" teeth can cause jaw alignment problems as well as could put pressure on the adult teeth causing them to shift overtime. If this cutie was my dog, I would have the baby teeth extracted. They may not be causing too much harm as of now, but they could cause oral problems in the future. Your dog does not need them, get them pulled. Especially considering he is well over a year old.
Reply:One of our poms ended up having her adult teeth grow in, before her baby teeth fell out . She looked like a little shark with two rows of teeth. We took her to the vet. He said to wait a few months to see if the baby teeth fell out, If not then they would have to extract them. He said her teeth looked fine and as long as she was eating and not showing signs of pain not to worry. In a month or so she did start loosing her baby teeth. We took her back to the vet , and he have her a good bill of health. He also said that in smaller breeds of dogs they will sometimes get their adult teeth before their baby teeth fall out.
Reply:i had to have my puppys teeth pulled.
Reply:If my dog has any retain baby teeth I`m having them pulled while he is neutered, that way he`s already out.

Teeth question!braces?dentists and orthos only please?
just go for a checkup at your local dentist. :) braces is a worthwhile treatment

Getting oral surgery to expose 2 impacted teeth .. VERY VERY scared and nervous .. any advice??

i have two impacted teeth (on either side of my mouth)

i have braces on, but soon will need oral surgery which would involve:

1) pulling the baby teeth out

2) cutting into my gum to expose the adult teeth

3) attatching a gold chain to the adult teeth

4) hooking the chain to my braces (to gradually pull them down)

has anyone gotten this surgery before? will i recieve general or local anesthesia? will i have any pain during the procedure? should i take any medication before? what pain meds should i take after? what sort of foods will i be able to eat? how much pain will i have after the surgery? how long will it take for my mouth to become normal again and for the pain to stop? will it be disgusting/bloody/gross? how long after the surgery will it take before the adult teeth fully come in? will it affect my speech? are there any after effects? will i still be able to go to school? how intense will the pain be during//after the surgery?

and lastly, any advice on nerves?

Getting oral surgery to expose 2 impacted teeth .. VERY VERY scared and nervous .. any advice??
Whoa, wouldn't you rather talk about clothes or something? Ok, baby teeth...breeze. Cutting into gum...breeze. Attaching chain...breeze. Gradually pulling them down...drag.

You will have local anesthetic, more than likely. You absolutely will be numb and not feel anything during the proceedure. If you need anything more than advil, the dds will prescribe it.

Afterward, you have a bunch of tissue around your cuspids that won't be sure what to do. In the course of three weeks or so, the tissue will settle down and not be swollen or tender.

You will need to keep this area clean, clean, clean. The benefit is that the mouth will feel lots better.

Pulling these teeth down takes time. Maybe you should chuck a quarter in a jar for every day that the chains are on. When you get them off, have a party to celebrate.

Nerves. Hmm...well, this procedure has been done loads of times. They know what they have to do to keep you comfortable and to heal up as fast as possible.

I know you don't feel lucky, but there a lot of kids who would love to have braces but their parents can't afford it. Good luck, hon.
Reply:Relax...you will wake up and it will all be over.. general anesthesia will be used you will sleep through the whole thing..
Reply:First off relax, you are not the first one who had this done. I never had the braces, but had impacted teeth removed before %26amp; it was no big deal. General or local? Dentist decision, my dentist used Nitrous gas %26amp; a local was all. The actual pulling I was awake for, but with the anesthesia it was no big deal, no pain then, it was numb completely.Afterwards yes it was sore a few days, but no big deal. had enough pain pills for 4 days he gave me %26amp; I never used them all. Soft food, ice cream pudding, soup, soft sandwiches. Remember no straws or any sucking motion the first few days so you do not get a dry socket. The dentist will give you the aftercare instructions. You will bleed, %26amp; keep gauze pads in your mouth a few hours, but again nothing bad. You can still go to school, I went back the same afternoon from the dentist. Not sure how long for your permanent teeth to come in. You will be back to normal before you know it.

Question about wisdom teeth?

alright this may be one of those questions that everyone else knows the answer to but i don't...but anyways

i just got all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and obviously i had to get stitches. when i was 9, i had to get 4 baby teeth pulled and didn't get any stitches. the first reaction is probably 'because the adult teeth are right there'...but the roots on the baby teeth were long and it the permanent teeth didn't grow in until i was 12. why didn't i need stitches with the baby teeth but i do with wisdom teeth?

Question about wisdom teeth?
the swelling should be gone in a few days or less. the baby teeth were designed to be pushed out and if they stitch it, it could problems for the permanent teeth.

The permanent teeth continue to develop slowly under the milk teeth. When the crown of the permanent tooth is fully formed, its root begins to grow. This causes an increase in pressure on the base of the milk tooth. The result is that the periodontal membrane and the cement and even part of the milk tooth root are broken down by enzymes and by special scavenging cells, called macrophages, which absorb the material in the manner of a feeding amoeba. When the cement and the membrane have gone there is no firm attachment of the tooth to the jaw – the tooth in fact becomes loose and eventually falls out, leaving a clear path for the permanent tooth which now rapidly grows up through the gum to take its place in the adult tooth row. When it has reached full size and is firmly embedded in its socket, the tooth ceases to grow because the opening of the pulp cavity closes just as in the milk teeth.

POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

Bite on the gauze for about 30 minutes after your surgery. Do not bite too firmly, just enough to keep the gauze in place. After the blood clot forms it is important to protect it especially for the next 48 hours to avoid dry socket. Drainage for a few days is normal. To minimize swelling and bleeding, keep head elevated (use extra pillows when sleeping). You can brush your teeth the day of surgery. Avoid brushing the surgery site. Any stitches will come out on their own in a week

Rinse your mouth with warm salt water after meals and before bed. Begin a very gentle warm salt water rinses (1tsp. salt for every 8oz. of water). The first day or so, do not swish the water around in your mouth; Instead, move your head side to side to rinse. Do not spit; Let the water flow out of your mouth. If you are watching salt intake in your diet, you may substitute the salt water rinse with a peroxide and warm water rinse. Use a 50/50 peroxide and water solution

NO smoking for 2 days

NO drinking through a straw for 2 days

NO mouthwash for a week

NO excessive spitting

NO vigorous rinsing for at least 48 hours after your surgery

AVOID alcoholic beverages

AVOID greasy foods

AVOID high acidic foods and drinks such as tomatos, orange juice, etc....

DO NOT over exert yourself. It is ok to ride in a car or on a plane

For Pain:

Advil (Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Naproxin Sodium) or Extra-Strength Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Take with food. NO aspirin or aspirin products

For Swelling:

Place an ice bag on side of face where your surgery was, for 30 minutes on, then 30 minutes off. Repeat for 6 hours. After 48 hours, use warm compresses as needed for swelling

Eat soft foods. No chips, pretzels, peanuts, etc.... Stay away from crunchy, chewy or small hard foods, to avoid food particles becoming lodged in the socket. Suggested foods are clear broth, pasta, potatoes, yogurt, baby food, smoothies, pudding, cream of wheat, 7up, Ginger Ale, apple juice
Reply:Probably because your baby teeth were smaller.
Reply:Hi, I'm a dental hygienist and I hope I can answer your question for you. The need for stitches basically comes from how large the extraction site is. Obviously, a baby tooth is much smaller and the bone is still in it's growing phase so new bone growth will fill in much quicker. Kids tend to heal up alot faster than adults do. And as you noted, the adult teeth are underneath where the baby teeth were removed and will begin their journey to the surface but it takes awhile. Unlike what most people think, the adult teeth are not completely formed and sitting under the baby teeth ready to come in. The adult teeth start out as a "tooth bud" in a little sack and first the crown portion of the tooth grows and then later as the tooth is starting it's growth to the surface, the root begins to grow, and it is in part this root growth that causes the new tooth to rise up to the surface. It does take awhile and your body has a general time schedule when teeth erupt. Even though you had your baby teeth out at 9, those adult teeth won't come in til they are scheduled to. Did your dentist place "spacers" where the baby teeth were removed? He should have, it will hold the gap open so the other teeth don't shift around and try to fill the gap, which makes it a crowded mess when adult teeth try to come in.

When you had your wisdom teeth pulled, there was nothing underneath them but the hole that was left behind. Wisdom teeth are molars and are much larger, with more roots. That leaves a pretty big gap and you are much more likely to get food stuck inside that hole. Food will cause irritation and infection which would drastically slow healing. So the sutures basically are acting as a bandaid to keep the area as clean as possible so it can heal faster. It takes awhile for new bone to fill in completely where the tooth roots used to be. Soft gum tissue will fill in pretty quickly. Be sure to follow your post-op instructions completely to insure proper healing and you will be just fine!

That was a very good question, by the way. I'd never been asked that one before!

Teeth pulling method?

I have 3 teeth that need to be pulled 2 are top molars with adult teeth growing over them and the other one is on the bottom with a tooth growing over it. Which method is better when getting your teeth pulled. Gettin put to sleep or the shot in the mouth. I dont care about afterward pain I care about when they give me they painful shot and pull out the tooth. I want to be put to sleep but my mom says I will feel it all. Your opinion?

Teeth pulling method?
Dear snaggletooth,

You mother really does not know what she is talking about. If you are asleep, how do you feel it? Do you think they use novacaine for open heart surgery or what? Good luck with oyur nasty choppers.
Reply:if you are a srilankan ,or wut ever !! Dont pul out your teeth coz i have many experience on this matter ,counsult a dentist, and ask him wut to do ,my sis had this similar prob ,they put her a braces..

bye

take care
Reply:you take a tissue, and hold on it with your hand then you just take you have with the tissue on it put it on your teeth and pull as hard as you could.
Reply:a lot of the time you will not have a choice- if it is not a mojor deal for the dentist to pull them they ill not put you to sleep- if it will be a process, like the pulling of my wisdom teeth- they put you to sleep. If you do have a choice- I highly recommend oyu letting them knock you out. You may have some pain afterwards that can be controlled with pain meds but during the process you will not feel a thing and you wont remember a thing, get put to sleep!!
Reply:It will be up to the dentist or oral surgeon who does the teeth removing. Maybe the person who does this has a headset you could listen to. Or, for that matter, if you have your own, please bring it with you. You will need to ask the person if it's ok to wear it while having the work done tho, out of respect for the person. Don't play it too loud either. Just enough for you to hear. If you get konked out, they would probably have to put an IV needle with IV in your arm, for the procedure. Just the shot, they usually have a pre-shot gel they can put on the cheek where the shot will be placed. To help numb that area for the shot. Then you will be numb. If you can't use a headset, then please do what my dad told me to do when I had to go to the dentist. Close your eyes, think on other things. You will be okay. Take care.
Reply:Being put asleep you will feel nothing, hear nothing, know nothing. Your mother is very wrong.
Reply:shots arent painful

it just feels like a small pinch

ive had a tooth pulled and well, i didnt hav an option to get put to sleep...

i would rather get put to sleep, but dont worry.

the shot does not hurt as much as u think.

and plush that shot numbs ur mouth so much that u cant feel a thing at all!
Reply:having the dentist put a shot in the back in your jaw joint and ask for a little gas to make you relax. Have your mom drive you though because you shouldn't drive yourself afterwards.

Good luck!
Reply:It depends on your level of anxiety - if you just get numbed around the area then you will be awake for the procedure but just feel some pushing when they are taking the teeth out

If you get put to sleep whether it is sedation of general anaesthesia (hospital) you will not feel or remember anything for that matter and this is the least traumatising way to go. Even if you do get put to sleep they still numb the area so you mother is wrong in that regard and you won't feel a thing
Reply:I'm pretty sure that the doctor will numb you up even if you are put to sleep. I work at a dentist office and I have had my wisdom teeth pulled. I was put to sleep to have my teeth pulled and they still gave me shots. I haven't ever seen a dentist pull teeth without numbing it up.
