Adult teeth start to actually form under the gumline under the milk teeth at around 2 or 3 years of age. If you were to take your child to a dentist at this age they would actually be visible to the dentsit on an x-ray film. My dentsit showed me my son%26#039;s and I was so surprised. So, with that it%26#039;s a very wise idea to make sure they get the right vitamins and minerals in their diet for healthy teeth formation and you start as early as possible in teaching good dental habits., Even infants should have their gums wiped off daily. Now each child is different for when they actually loose their first tooth, the average age is 5. You could give or take a year with that though; due to each child%26#039;s difference. It%26#039;s best no matter what age to take your child in for dental exams every 6 months, even when they have just their milk teeth. If you cannot afford dental care you can call your state%26#039;s nearest Department of Health to be directed in a low cost or free dental plan for where you live. As far as how old they are when they lose they last of their milk teeth...I%26#039;ll let you know when I find out! My son is 14 and still has molars that are awaiting to fall out that he has had since being a toddler. The dentist assured me that this is normal and that he can see the adult tooth under the gumline and everything appears to be fine. Generally though the front teeth of the milk teeth are usually all fallen out by the time they reach the age of 8. Again you have to take into consideration that all children develop at their own pace. Dental care is important at all stages of teeth development, when the adult teeth are coming in it%26#039;s important to have regualr check ups to ensure there is no over crowding or large spacing. They also now do what they call sealants on teeth. They brush on a tooth colored substance that helps protect molars and such from cavities. That is a great idea I wish they had around when I was younger. They will only do this to adult teeth though. Hope this has been helpful. Reply:depend on the child. My son%26#039;s friend is 5 y.o. and he started to lose one while that happened to me at 6. I%26#039;d say around 6 years old is an average time.

Reply:it all depends on how much you help them look after their teeth. My Adult teeth came out at the age of 16, and they were the last two. The only reason they came out was because the dentist had to take them out as the needed that gap for my braced teeth to move back into.

Reply:My eldest son, having sported a classic double-incisor gap for the last 2-3 months, now has his first adult tooth peeping out from his gumline. He%26#039;s 7 years and 4 months old. His best friend, 3 months younger, has a single gap and front teeth like a wobbly picket fence. I would say that the adult teeth start to come through in a childs 8th year but have no idea how long the whole process takes. When it%26#039;s all done, I%26#039;ll let you know though!

Reply:Adult teeth can come thru at any age, my mate is 35 and has only just lost some of her baby molars. Also my son is almost 10 and altho he%26#039;s lost his baby teeth at the front and a couple of back ones he has the majority of his baby teeth. As long as they look after them the dentists tend not to take them out for as long as possible. They fill them instead.
