i have a brother thats ten and he has gapped teeth. front row and bottom...i know that hes going to have to get braces (or not) but im wondering if he should wait because he currently has alot of his baby teeth. (i think like 5) SHould he wait for his adult teeth or go for it now?
Bros gapped teeth...?
Absolutely wait---- hey, it's natural and actually great to hear that he has gaps at this age (10 yrs. old). It means his jaw is growing and making room for his BIG permanent teeth--NOW, AFTER all of his permanent teeth have come in and he still has the gaps--orhto work is certainly a great option.
BEST to actually have him monitored to PROPERLY Diagnose the amount of gaping being caused in his smile--as some smiles are needed to be corrected BEFORE all of the child's' permanent teeth are in.
Another variable in this is (small permanent teeth) there are some people that have diminutive size permanent teeth and it's unknown if your baby brother also has this problem contributing. Correction for this (veneers or plastic bonding) some doctors only close the gaps without considering the aesthetics of the teeth (shape, color, size).
Get all the facts, make an appointment with an orthodontist for children-- for a complete and proper recommendation for your baby brother's gaps--and to best understand what approach-- if any, is needed to correct this gap problem.
Reply:he should wait for his adult teeth to come in...
Reply:Only the dentist and orthodontist will know when they think the time is right for braces. The dentist will refer him to an orthodontist if he thinks he may need braces and the ortho guy will check things out and then tell him when he thinks will be a good time for him to get braces.
Reply:there's no sense, physically or economically, to straighten his baby teeth with braces...
Reply:He should wait till he gets all his adult teeth, plus if he goes to the dentist he/ she can advise better.
Reply:u shold wait upto 13yr. as canine errupts it put pressure on centrals, u must have IOPA d LAT.CEPH.. RADIOGRAHS BEFORE UNDERGOING ANY TREATMENT.Firstly youshould know the etiology of it

Can i have wisdom teeth removed awake?
Just saw one wisdom tooth begin to erupt, and I think they might have to come out soon (orthodontic work for 3 years). I have a strong fear of general anesthesia, the big issue being death while I'm out. I don't want to be sedated either because I had one tooth out when I was 8 and I had nitrous and it was way too freaky.
I had an impacted adult tooth removed when I was 14, this thing was way in the gum, you could only see it on x-ray. I requested that I stay awake and they kept me up. Honestly, it wasn't that bad. There was blood, grinding, pulling, and a big-*** needle but that didn't bother me as much as the sight of the dreaded general anesthetic equipment. I knew the lidocaine had no chance of death.
However, I'm concerned that the dentist may not do it with local alone even if I request it, because supposedly, wisdom teeth are different. Can this procedure be done awake?
Can i have wisdom teeth removed awake?
I have had 5 teethe pulled without being put under. four being wisedom
Reply:I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled while I was awake (two at a time). None had broken through the gums but 2 were growing in crooked. So, yes, they can be removed when you're awake.
Reply:If your wisdom teeth have erupted, then you can be awake because (from what I've heard) it's just like a regular tooth removal. The reason most people go under is because the teeth are impacted, haven't erupted, too close to the nerve, etc. Mine hadn't come out yet, so they put me to sleep.
Reply:Yes. I've had one out with Novacaine. It is a lot easier, as you don't need to have someone take you home.
Reply:Yes, you can have your wisdom teeth out with just local anesthetic. the reason they usually put you out with wisdom teeth removal is because of the blood, grinding, tooth breaking they have to do. it will not sound very good and you will feel the pressure but if you can handle it and if the dentist thinks you can handle it they should do it for you.
Reply:YES, it can be done very easly; I had 3 of them pulled/out w/o any anesthetic[live]; the doctor talled me that they have 3 roots and even w/local anesthetic I will feel the pain; so I accepted and was not that bad, I survived......going under....you will never know what the ....good doctor....is doing to ...."U"....
Reply:Absolutely--all the time. In my experience I have assisted erupted and non erupted wisdom teeth. A dentist can extract non erupted wisdom teeth..it just comes down to the choice does he want to or would it be best for the oral surgeon to perform the extractions.?? Not every non erupted wisdom tooth removal goes to the surgeon. Sometimes, if they are not coming through the gum tissue(non erupted) it could also be that the bud of wisdom tooth is too deep to get without getting REALLy involved. So..Yes..you can have all 4 of wisdoms extracted at once or two at a time awake..if that is your choice! Good luck to you.
Reply:I had my top wisdom tooth removed about 8 hours ago and I was awake throughout the whole thing. If you have a good dentist then you won't feel a thing while getting it done. Good Luck
Reply:YES, YOU CAN BE AWAKE FOR THIS WISDOM TEETH ARE NOT DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS.
Reply:I had a wisdom tooth pulled 8 months ago because it broke he numbed me up and pulled it out took about 30 minutes from sitting down to leaving the dentist so ya there are dentist that will do that for you its your body get what you watn done.

Help Romoved teeth was it right move?
i went to the dentists and they romoved 3 pre moulers they said there gonna romove more and one of them is a adult teeth and they said that that they did that cause when my braces go on and when my teeth go back they need room for it to go back were they right cause i only need braces on the top and they romeved a teeth from the bottom too?
Help Romoved teeth was it right move?
Hmmm. Do you have your wisdom teeth yet? If not, have they x-rayed you to see if you have all of them, as some people don't always have all 4. I can understand the top....I think, but it makes more since to remove wisdom teeth that haven't erupted yet to ensure room and ensure that they don't push teeth foward when they come in. Sounds odd to me that they pulled any teeth unless you had "extra" premolars or some type of problem such as extreme crowding. As for the bottom tooth, a bit suspicious. Is the dentist also an orthodontist, meaning is he/she going to put your braces on too?
Reply:Since you cannot take it back, it was the right decision.
Reply:after the braces are on 4 a month or 2 the spaces will close up and you wont be able to tell
Reply:well you cant do anything about it now, and they are proffesionals they know what they're doing
Reply:Sounds like my niece and she has Beautiful teeth now-she is 23.
Yes I feel you made the right move in a short while you'll be so Glad u did!

3 yr old son got his teeth knocked back.....?
yesterday my son fell and when I opened his mouth, one of his front teeth was knocked back and I pulled it forward. I can tell his other front teeth was affected to by the fall also from his gums but it wasn't knocked back like the other one. By looking at it, I can tell its crooked. One is more out than the other one (the one that was knocked back) I put some pressure on it while he was sleeping to try to get it lined up with the other one but it didn't work. What would a dentist do in this situation. Would they put my son to sleep to fix his teeth or something since he is not mature enough yet to sit still? Is there something that is done to make sure the teeth will grow properly and his adult teeth will grow straight? There looks like dried blood on his gums? Does this mean his gums are infected?
3 yr old son got his teeth knocked back.....?
yes, you should bring him to a dentist, prefferably a pedodontist who deals with small children everyday. Your son should have those teeth til he is 6or so, so hang onto them if at all possible. The dentist may splint the loose tooth to more sound teeth so it may heal but they may need a pulpectomy, if the pulp is affected by the fall. Good luck
Reply:I would take him to his pediatrician and have them look at his teeth. Kids get their baby teeth battered and knocked out all the time. The doctor will be able to tell you if he really needs to see a dentist and if his gums are infected. Yes, the dentist would have to give him some medication to make him sleep. Just don't let the dentist talk you into anything like root canals or crowns for baby teeth. I have heard that a lot. Some parents have been talked into spending thousands of dollars on teeth that are going to fall out anyway. Horrible.
Reply:Take him to the dentist!
Reply:Take him to the hospitle and quick man.
His gums sound infected please dont try to help his pain of the tooth it may make it worse then before so harry leave right now and if not his teeth may became blood shout like he can't eat on that tooth or it will hurt, its like mine and i do not want that kid to be hurt like my tooth and it hurts bad............ HELP HIM NOW MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! ............
Reply:take him to an orthadontist.
Reply:why in the world would you not bring him to the dentist or doctor when his tooth got knocked out? Let's use some common sense......
Honestly, he is probably in pain. i hop ethe LEAST you are doing is giving him tylenol or some other child pain medication. Oh my gosh, your poor son.

Question about my 7yr old son's front teeth?
when my son was 2yrs old, he fell and hit one of his front teeth on concrete. I took him to the dentist and he said that he "killed" the tooth, would turn black and fall out. The adult tooth would come in just fine. Well, he never lost the tooth and it didn't turn black it just turned a yellowish color. He is now 7yrs old and he lost that tooth and about 3 weeks later he lost his other front tooth. The one that he lost second (the good one) has already started to come through, it's about half way. The other one has not started, can't see where it is even breaking the gums yet. It looks like the gums are starting to heal. I'm worried that there may not be a tooth at all. Any ideas??? just in case you tell me to go to a dentist, i have an appointment scheduled march 17th.
Question about my 7yr old son's front teeth?
Not all teeth will come in at the same time.Usually with front teeth one will come in faster than the other one.
Reply:The dentist can take an x-ray and show you the tooth buds. don't worry I'm sure his teeth with be fine.
Reply:It would be extremely rare for a central incisor not to form. I've never seen it happen.
Teeth do not always come out simultaneously, and that is all I think is happening in your situation. It is too early to be concerned about other possibilities.
For example, sometimes an extra tooth forms between the central incisors (called a mesiodens) and can obstruct the incisors from erupting. An Xray would show you what's happening.
In another example, sometimes the gum heals up too fast and hard over an erupting incisor, and stops it coming thru. A simple incision into the gum to break the skin will fix it.
I would wait 3 months before looking at these possibilities.
Reply:Definately dont miss that appointment . Some teeth are definately slower than others but since your son has had trauma in that area I would definately let a dentist check to see if it was still moving into position .Are you seeing the same dentist as before because he could compare the x-ray from before with a current x-ray to make sure the tooth has completely formed and is in position to come through .Even though it has been a long time since the fall if you are not seeing that dentist I would call and ask if I could get an x-ray copy forwarded to the doc you are seeing so he will see first hand what it looked like before . I also have a seven year old little boy . I hope all is fine and his tooth is just slow to come in .My sons two upper front teeth seemed to take forever to come in but the other teeth have come in very soon after they were lost .

SIX Canine teeth - YES SIX! - have you seen this?
My six month old kitten is teething and has horrible dragon breath. This is the 28th kitten I have raised - be them my own adopted babies or kittens I fostered.
Never, have I seen this, his milk teeth are coming out, on schedule and as they should be - I know the teething and bad breath are normal and as expected.
BUT - he currently has two top canines on each side. They are side by side as if the new adult tooth pushed the milk tooth to the side.
I called the vet and they said it is okay...odd, but okay. I just need to keep checking him and making sure he is eating.
Has anyone ever seen this? I am going to try and get a picture but it is hard to hold his mouth open and operate the camera at the same time.
SIX Canine teeth - YES SIX! - have you seen this?
I have seen and heard of dogs having something like this. When they are suppose to loose their puppy teeth, they never fall out, and the adult teeth grow right along side of it.
Never have I heard about it in cats though.
I will try to find more info, or images...but I am having no luck right now.
Edit: It's called: Retained Deciduous (Baby) Teeth
Found a site:
Reply:That's kind of neat. I'd like to see a photo. I haven't seen it first hand, but it does sound logical that the adult tooth may have just pushed it to the side.
Enjoy your kitten and try for that photo!

How can I stop the pain of teeth growing in?
I'm at my aunt's house till septeber-and my baby chew toys are back at my house-or else I'd be chewing on thoose....
I'm starting to grow my adult teeth in and the pain has hurt the whole side of my mouth...
It's either my adult teeth or my wisdoms need to be plucked...I havn't lost all of my baby teeth yet......
Anyways-i thikn were out of carrots, and chewing on my finger hurts...
It jsut started comeing out, and it's jsut now breaking my gum...Hurts-And tastes a tad bit like blood, but tissue dosen't have any blood on it...
(If this tells you anything- I was foaming the other day due to not drinking anought water)
How can I stop the pain of teeth growing in?
While I was pregnant, I had a wisdom tooth coming in and I couldn't take tylenol or anything like that. My doctor suggested putting a little spicy mustard where the pain was. It actually worked. I dont promise it will go away completely, but it'll feel much better.
Reply:consult the dentist!
Reply:call your dentist at home, see if he can get you a pain reliever until you get back so you can see him. Those wisdoms are painful. They could be growing against the roots of your other teeth and if you dont see a dentist, it could pull out more teeth than necessary!
Reply:Motrin I.B.
Reply:Try some Advil or Ibprofen
Reply:There are some over the counter analgysics (sp?) that are stronger than advil. I had a bad tooth while preggo and I froze washclothes and chewed on them. That froze it a little bit. My sister also tried the liquigel advils and breaking one open over the area and she swore by it!

Would wobbly teeth put a dog off eating???
my shih tzu has been off her food, and when i took her to the vet, and the dog has 2 baby teet that are still attached to her gums but her adult teeth are in the right place. The teeth are coming out tomorrow, but would the wobbly teeth put her off eating??
Would wobbly teeth put a dog off eating???
I would think so...it probably isn't very comfortable for her w/ her teeth not being very secure...
Reply:It can. It depends on the position of the teeth and how loose they are. Sometimes food can also get caught in between the adult and baby teeth and cause some pain. Hopefully she'll be eating better when they're out.
Reply:Probably, the teeth are sore I would imagine, think about it, if you had loose teeth and had to eat hard food it would hurt and make you not want to eat.
You might offer her some of her food after you soaked it in warm water to soften.
Reply:Yes, of course. If you had wobbly teeth which most likely would cause some degree of discomfort while you ate, wouldn't you rather not bother with a meal.
You'll better know what to think after the baby teeth come out tomorrow.
Reply:Probably not if they are deciduous (baby) teeth. But it is possible that some bleeding from those baby teeth could cause gastrointestinal irritation, and that could cause your dog to be inappetent. I would wait and see how she does after the deciduous teeth are extracted.

Are my teeth going to fall out?
I just got braces for the bottom side of my teeth. When I was on the computer, I felt my teeth and one of my bottom incisors felt like it was loose. I have all of my adult teeth, and I'm freaking out right now. Can anybody give me some answers why this is happening to me?
Are my teeth going to fall out?
I have braces too, and sometimes i think so too. It's most likely just your teeth shifting i have that happen a lot too. Wait a little bit don't play with it and see if it changes at all. If its still feels loose, I'd go see the orthodontist.
Reply:eventually yes.....but not for a long time because braces essentially damage the jawbone but it takes a while for the damage to take effect so you get to enjoy perfect teeth for a while
what you are experiencing is the strain on your teeth, and that will end in a couple of months when your teeth stop hurting! So no, you are fine for now.
Reply:I wouldn't take any answers from this site seriously when it concerns your permanent dental well-being. Call your orthodontist or dentist.
Reply:Call your dentist and leave an urgent message or ask for an opinion asap.
Don't chew anything tough until you know what it is.
If you have no pain or swelling, then relax. Either it is good or bad and you can't really do anything about it.

Dental Health Issue, loose teeth!?
Please help. I'm a 14 y.o. boy in NYC who has all of his adult teeth in. Sometimes I don't brush my teeth in the morning or at night, and those days I simply don't brush. Now my teeth are loose and I'm afraid that they're going to fall out! This can't be happening! Brushing my teeth now won't help, so what will? Is there any way I can stop them from falling out? Or will routine brushing every day keep them from falling out? They're ALREADY LOOSE AND I'M ONLY 14! Please help me. They can't fall out already!
HELP!
Dental Health Issue, loose teeth!?
I understand your concern and it's good that you care about your teeth. Yes, there is a way to stop your teeth from falling out.
However, your problem can not be definitively diagnosed and the treatment cannot be recommended, without a complete dental exam, xays, and laboratory tests.
What can you do?
1. See your dentist right away for evaluation.
2. Continue flossing and brushing with PROPER techniques at least two times daily.
3. Drink a lot of milk.
4. Stay on a healthy diet and avoid frequent sugar intakes.
Best Wishes
Reply:well it sounds to me as if you have a periodontal problem..(gum)..maybe gingivitis. But i cant be sure until i have seen your gums, if your gums are a bit on the red side then i would say you do have gingivitis.
What you need to do is brush your teeth every day, make sure of it and ensure that you are brushing your gums, not just your teeth.
Do you floss regularly too?
because not flossing is a huge cause of gum problems.
Use a fairly strong mouthwash that contains CLORHEXIDINE such as clorohex 1200 or corsodyl.
Your gums should then tighten up around your teeth in a few weeks...but act upon it now or your teeth will just fall out as all the bacteria under your gums erodes at your jaw bone.
ps; dont wobble your teeth.
Reply:First off, you need a dental checkup ASAP. Routine brushing twice daily followed with a floride rinse will help repair your gums. However, if you do not have the plaque removed that has accumulated along the gum line, you are fighting a lost cause. You need a good cleaning an scaling due to your neglect. Poor dental hygiene can cause all sorts of physical illness and problems besides the loss of teeth.
Reply:Any bleeding gums, are they swollen(inflamed). These can lead to infection and the loss of your teeth. You might need an antibiotic.Tell a parent of you problem. You need to see a dentist. There ways of cleaning below your gums to tighten your teeth. It might be to late. Show someone and get it taken care of.Infection can cause big problems.
Reply:I guess now you know why flossing and tooth brushing are important. You will look ridiculous with dentures as a teenager.
Are your gums bleeding?? If so you have gingivitis, a gum disease. The following will help heal your gums. But you must follow the regimen.
1. Floss and brush TWICE EVERY DAY.
2. Use an ANTIBACTERIAL MOUTHWASH. Your teeth are loosening up because of bacteria in your gums the mouth wash twice every should help that.
3. To help heal you gums, get HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, from the drug store in is most always next to the alcohol.
Take a mouth full and swish it in your mouth and let it bubble, it will bubble out the disease from under your gums. Do this morning and night. DO NOT SWOLLOW, it feels icky if you swollow.
It will heal the bleeding and any pain you have in your gums.
Get started doing these things promptly and call for a dental appointment in about two weeks. Then your gums and teeth should be in much better condition.
Reply:You need to see a dentist, maybe a Periodontist ASAP, like now. You need serious antibiotics and to have your condition determined by a DENTIST as soon as you can get in. There is a chance they can be saved or that some of them can be saved. You can get very , very ill and I urge you to get care now. If the teeth are truly hopeless, only the dentist can tell you what to do. I hope you get the care you need.

Teeth falling out?
I have just noticed that 2 of my puppys bottom teeth have either fallen out or broken off. She is 5 months old. Does this mean she is gettign adult teeth or has she been chewing on something to make them break?
Teeth falling out?
Awwww, She's just losing her puppy teeth. If you're lucky, you might even find one or two. Usually they get swallowed with no harm done.
Dogs have 28 deciduous (temporary) teeth and 42 permanent teeth. Puppies have no teeth at birth, and grow deciduous teeth beginning their second week of life.
At three months of age, the deciduous teeth begin to be replaced by the permanent teeth.
The replacement process begins with the incisors, and moves backwards through the canines, premolars and finally the molars. The turnover process is usually complete by the time the dog is eight months old, with none of the original 28 deciduous teeth remaining.
Most deciduous teeth are swallowed with food and never seen by the pet owner. Occasionally a deciduous tooth is merely pushed to the side and retained next to the permanent tooth. Retained deciduous teeth can be removed by a veterinarian.
The incisors turn over from deciduous to permanent from two to four months of age. The canines usually convert around six months of age. The premolars and molars follow in that order, with the last permanent molar erupting around eight months of age.
The exact schedule does vary from breed to breed.
Reply:She is probably losing her baby teeth. Normally dogs swallow their teeth when they lose them. So you may not notice them around the house. She should lose her canines last, and those normally fall out at about 6 months. Have fun with your pup. Don't forget to get her fully vaccinated and spayed! Good luck
Reply:Pups teeth fall out just like with a human baby. Perfectly normal.
Reply:I would consult your vet about the broken teeth, as that is unusual. But she is at the right age for getting her adult teeth. Are you sure you aren't seeing part of the adult tooth growing in and mistaking it a s a broken tooth?
Reply:puppies teeth fall out just like kids they will come back dont worry
Reply:She's just teething :) She's going to be fine, take a sock and wet it, then freeze the sock. Once it is completely frozen let her chew on it till it thaws then do it again. Cheap teether ;)
Reply:normal loss of baby teeth, but chewing (teething) on toys could help them to come out. No need to worry.
Reply:she is losing her baby teeth.you shouldn't worry.it usually happens during 5 months to about 10 months.
Reply:she is getting her adult teeth, its normal, they start getting them at 5 months old
Reply:Im not a vet or nothing and obviously thats the only way to know for sure. But, I do know that dogs usually loose their baby teeth at around 6 months so that would be my guess.

Why are my dogs teeth loose?
I have a yorkshire terrier that is 4 years old. She barely is losing her puppy k9 teeth (the long sharp ones), when she was 3 yrs, and one still remains. Now her upper k9 and the one next to it is loose. They are adult teeth, and I don't know what to do. I'm concerned that she is gonna lose all her teeth eventually. I brush her teeth, but she still has really bad breath and tarter. I've give her raw hides and "greenies" (tarter control chewing things). What is wrong with her? please help.
Why are my dogs teeth loose?
Sounds like she may have periodontal disease.
No greenies or chews will help at this point. She needs a professional teeth cleaning (scaling and polish) by a vet.
There is a new dental sealant called OraVet, check it out (for after the dental) http://www.Oravet.com
The teeth are probably falling out due to gum recession. Some dogs are more prone to mouth disease/problems then others.
If there in an infection present, she will probably have to be on antibiotics.
Definitely do not ignore the problem, studies have shown, good teeth care will extend the life of your pet. The bacteria associated with tartar can lead to heart problems and much more!
Hope I helped!
Reply:she has gingivitus. its common in many dogs. if you take her to the vet or just go to a local pet store, you can ask them for a special toothpaste that can help :P

Reply:She should have lost her puppy teeth a long long time ago...like around a few months of age. Her mouth should be evaluated by a vet to be sure what exactly what is going on in there. She may have bitten onto something hard like some rocks or she may have some dental problems that need to be addressed to try to preserve the rest of her teeth if need be.
Reply:You need to make an appointment at the vet for her. She could have a teeth infection or teeth disease. My dogs all lost their puppy teeth within the 1st year.
Reply:i would take her to the vet just to make sure nothing is wrong with her. also i would hold off on the raw hides until u can figure out wat is going on.
Reply:It sounds like she needs a good dental cleaning and then the vet can see if the teeth need to be pulled. Once they are clean you can keep them clean by brushing them. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork should be done on your dog to make sure it is healthy before the dental and this will let the vet know if your dog may have any underlying conditions causing loose teeth.
Reply:Smaller dogs commonly have retained teeth and higher incidence of tooth problems, though it can happen in all breeds. If she is just now losing her puppy teeth that could explain a lot. When the adult teeth were trying to grow in the puppy teeth could have put pressure on them and taken up the root space the adult teeth needed.
Having a dental exam done by the Vet will help improve her health. This isn't a problem that greenies and rawhides can fix. If the gingivitis gets too bad it can lead to kidney failure due to the bacteria.
Reply:She is in obvious need of a dental.
Why has your vet never recommended extracting these retained puppy teeth at your annual visits?
Yorkies are SO prone to dental problems, and this is the number one reason you should be seeking veterinary advice, and should have long ago.
Retained puppy teeth will rot, causing Gingivitis of the gums and infection /rotting of the adult teeth.
Brushing and Greenies will not help this problem.
Reply:You should consult a vet. Maybe you should hold off on the brushing and on the rawhides. Maybe you are brushing too hard. Are you scrubing? That could be the reason.
Reply:This sounds like a gum disease called piorea.I would take this dog to the vet fast since it has already lost so many teeth.
Reply:I don't know why, but smaller dogs tend to have bad teeth no matter how hard the owner's try to keep them clean. Since her baby tooth never came out, bacteria and plaque have probably built up between the 2 teeth and have caused damage to the permanent tooth. Only a dental check by a vet could tell you how far the damage has gone. If she has infected teeth, they are probably painful and the kind thing would be to have them removed before they cause other health issues.
There are many dogs out there that have lost their teeth and are still able to eat softened dry food or canned food.
Reply:Make sure that your vet takes dental x-rays prior to doing anything. Often times there is pathology associated with the jaw and there can also be fractures present prior to removing the teeth. Also, what you see in the mouth is literally the "tip of the iceberg." There is a whole lot of tooth down there under the gum that cannot be evaluated without radiology. Your dentist would never pull a tooth without doing an x-ray first.

I have a third pair of teeth in some places. What causes this?
My eye teeth (vampire-k9-fangs) All lost baby teeth and have grown adult teeth. Then they came out again and I have a VERY long third pair. I am 15 and female. What causes this? It kinda hurts cause they're wide and long hence pushing my other teeth. Then on my left side I have another third tooth comming about my second. It's not noticable and I'm going to the dentist next month to check it out. Does anyone know what's causing this and/or what will possibly happen when I go to the dentist. Surgery? Filing them? Braces?

DOG EXPERTS, PLEASE HELP! Dog teeth has brown eroded holes!?
My 1 year old puppy had had this problem ever since his adult teeth came. It started with small brown patches, which eventually became bigger and bigger holes. It eats away the tooth, causing brown 'holes' concaved in the teeth!
Description: Teeth white, with small brown holes everywhere. It is more serious in the front teeth that back. When i feel them, the brown holes are caved in, forming little 'caves'.
I am really desperate!!! I don't know what to do!! I can't go to a dog dentist, that is not an option. Worst case scenario: Will my puppy die because of this? He is losing appetite...
PLEASE HELP!
DOG EXPERTS, PLEASE HELP! Dog teeth has brown eroded holes!?
Get him to the vet and have his teeth cleaned. While your vet has your dog cleaning his teeth and doing any necessary extractions, he can also try and find the cause. Teeth cleaning is usually less than $200. They don't make dog dentures, so don't delay.
Bad teeth can lead to many serious things, like kidney failure. So I can't stress the importance of prompt care.
Reply:If your dog is in pain, or losing his appetite and you are worried, you need to take him to the vet ASAP. You wont find the correct anser on the web, you need vet help.
Reply:sorry hun, but only option you might have is to go to the vet for your little puppy. if the teeth are rotting away thats one thing, but if he's losing his appetite thats another. your puppy will have serious problems if he doesn't get help soon. those teeth need to be checked out and pulled out!
Reply:I am stumped,.. but obiously it is causing the pup some pain that's why loss of appetite.
Nothing's worse than a toothache too.
It may be from a vitamin/mineral deficiency that's causing the teeth enamal to erode.
HAVE YOU TAKEN TO A VET?
A reputable vet with experience (may not need a specialist) would have come across that condition before.
So take to vet for oral examination.
Gd. luck.

Reply:go to your vet now !!!
Reply:It sounds like what used to be called "Distemper teeth". Was your dog ill as a puppy? Many dogs used to have teeth like this after suffering a very high temperature as a pup. You should take him to the vet to find out though.

I have never heard of your problem. What did your vet say? I never heard of a doggie dentist. The only thing I notice is that my dogs' teeth always get a bit darker along the gum line as they age. I have friends who tell me they brush their dogs teeth, but I wonder why. I once had a neighbor dog with a few teeth missing, but he seemed healthy enough.
If you cannot afford to see a vet, call your local humane society. If they cannot recommend someone you can afford, maybe you cannot afford a dog.
Dogs are so much better than humans. They love you even if you don't give them enough love. Humans are lying and trying to cheat me every day, but no dog would ever do that.
If a vet or licensed vet tech tells you your dog is losing weight, he may need nutritional supplementation, like Ensure, Instant Breakfast or vitamins %26amp; minerals But do not spend the money on fancy foods, just read the labels at the pet food stores and go to cheap human food stores. Dogs can stay healthy with the foods most humans eat except for those crazy vegans (vegetarians). Dogs need more protein than humans (but not as much as cats). You may consider supplementing your dog food with a percentage of cat food. Whatever you do, run your written plan by your dogs vet.

If thats the case nothing you can really do other than brushing and feeding a quality diet will help. Only your vet can do a proper dental cleaning to prevent future damage. Abcessed teeth can cause a massive infection and turn into blood poisoning and quickly kill the puppy.

If you are unable to spend a little money for this condition that I have NEVER heard of (sounds terrible) even though the dog is in pain and not eating, then perhaps you should take it to a shelter and give up your ownership.
A vet check-up is only around the $50 range, see what is wrong with the dog. Any treatment they need to do can be put on a payment plan- vets offer that.

Kitty teeth?
So my 'boys' are 5, 3, 1.5 and 8 months. I dont remember with my 5 year old when his baby teeth were all gone, or with our 3 year old, but I just noticed our 1.5 year old is missing a couple teeth. I already have one with a gum disease, and I just cant remember at what age all adult teeth should be in. Anyone?
Kitty teeth?
I just looked it up online and most of the articles said kitties should have all their permanent teeth by the age of 6 months. You might want to check his/her gums and make sure they look pink and healthy or have your vet check em out for you. This might be why they are missing or he might have got in a fight or something like that. I hope this answer helped. Good luck and God Bless!
Reply:My cat was a rescue, so I have no definite idea how old she is, though she was pretty little when I took her in. I think I remember my vet saying that although she couldn't tell me how old she was exactly, she had her adult teeth, so that meant she was over 6 months old at the time.
Reply:well, check what it is eating and biting.
Reply:The kitten teeth fall out at about 4 or 5 months of age. If you have an adult cat with missing teeth they are not going to come back. The only teeth cats struggle without are the back teeth and cats without these need a soft food diet or to have their biscuits soaked in water.

Need help about my sons teeth?
My son is seven years old and he has lost his bottom 2 teeth and they grew in fine. When he lost his top r i noticed that his adult tooth is coming in the comlete opposite way! (the side of the tooth is foremost instead of the flat front of the tooth)
He has an appointment on thursday, but i want to know how they would or if they can fix it. Can he have braces though he still has baby teeth.
I feel bad he said " i dont wanna look like a dork mom, can the dentist fix it"
Need help about my sons teeth?
This is highly individual. Personally, I tend to refer a patient to the orthodontist as soon as I know there will be problems. Often, I get a letter back saying thanks for the referral, but the child has been placed on 6 or 12 month recall. I would FAR prefer to have a child seen before they are ready for treatment instead of getting them there too late. If you can guide growth and development, it is far easier than waiting for the teeth to come in all wrong and then try to fix them. Ask your dentist for a recommendation and get an early consultation. It will most likely be free and you could also find out about costs.
Reply:the dentist is probably going to tell you that they will staighten as more teeth grow in, but unfortuantley they cant do anything till baby teeth are all gone
Reply:they often come thru crooked but straighten up later ,he wont be able to have a brace until he is about 13 and all his baby teeth have gone
Reply:ohhh, if you want to pay for brases twice and keep your son in brases for 6-7 years, I'm sure some dentist can put them on your son. Tough I would not (and did not do that to my kid), just for the simple reason, that if he can not take peer pressure at 7 than what are you going to do when he is 16?
Reply:I work in an oral surgeon's office and that problem is something that we fix all the time. You will have to wait until he is a little bit older though so that he has some permanent molars to attach braces to. Then, they will be able to cement a chain to that tooth which will tug on it for a few months, pulling it into the proper orientation. That procedure is not actually that expensive, although the braces may be.
Reply:Your son is too young, for braces, a he needs some adult molar teeth to fix the braces.
But usually the teeth straighten up, mostly due to the pressure of the tongue

Hereditary Dental conditions that effect baby teeth???
Does anyone know of any? Ok my husband had to get 2 teeth pulled when he was very small, his sister had a root canal at age 6. their adult teeth came in fine and no problems. not I just found out that my 3 year old daughter has 8 cavities and one is very very bad. also my husbands nephews both went to the dentist, one had to get a tooth pulled and the outher a root canal. my sister in law took her boys to the dentist 6 moths ago and their teeth were fine. My daughter brushes her teeth all the time after she eats and never eats exsessive sweets. I dont understand. I am really convinced that there is something on my husband side of the family that effects baby teeth, has anyone ever heard of such a thing, please help, this is like a mystery.
Hereditary Dental conditions that effect baby teeth???
Yes you can inherit tendencies towards bad teeth from one or both parents. Not all dentists believe this but one dentist told either my mother or my brother (can't remember which) about this.
Reply:Ask your dentist these questions. Does your daughter drink alot of punch, tea, cokes or other sugary drinks? (A soft drink has 10 tsp. of sugar that goes into the blood stream and can rot teeth from the inside out!)
Reply:My nephew's son had to have his baby teeth surgically removed for the same reason, and I believe surgery on his gums. They gave him a bottle with kool-aide in it a lot. Are you sure that you don't do something similar? Make sure she has vitamins and plenty of milk to build strong teeth and bones.
Reply:it could be possible it is heridity..on the other hand i have heard people say if mother was on different types of medication for health problems for long a very time in her young age , that could also affect the childs growth in many ways including dental issues..better to consult Dr now as she is still 3 yrs.. she is still in her milk tooth..may be next set of tooth shud come up fine with Doc help

Son's front teeth pulled?
On Tuesday I have an appointment to get my one year old son's two front teeth pulled because of Baby Bottle Mouth. He wasn't with me when he got this. The dentist said I had two options which was to get a root canal done on his teeth then put crowns on them or get them pulled. She said it would be easier just to get them pulled but I feel like I should get the crown on them even though they are baby teeth.Im scared he's going to get made fun of when he starts school and for every picture until he gets his adult teeth he's going to look goofy. So I don't know what I should do and which is best for him.
Son's front teeth pulled?
As your sons teeth are carious/decayed than removing the existing caries is a must to prevent futher loss of tooth structure.
Rampant caries or baby bottle caries are the most common cause of decay in small children.
If the caries Involve pulp even then root canals(pulpotomys/puplectomy in children) can be done,If it involves extensive loss of tooth structure than Crowns are recommended.
Also keep in mind that it is Very Important to save these teeth till the age of 7-8 years,as they guide the eruption of permanent teeth, also aid in preventing malocclusion,Donot get them extracted and try to save them by conservative means.Look at the eruption chart:
http://www.mchoralhealth.org/pediatricoh...
So make it sure that these teeth are saved, fluoride application will benefit in preventing any further damage,it will surely aid in delaying the tooth decay process.Read about it more here:
http://www.umanitoba.ca/outreach/wisdomt...
This what you can do for preventition of any decay further and damage other teeth
1)Take care to clean the childs teeth after every feed.
2)Also take care to change the babys feeding habits, avoid bottle feeding before sleep, Isolate the sugar factors from the diet chart and control sugar exposure.
Reply:Well It would hurt him less if he just had them pulled. And he could not show his teeth when he smiles?
I feel sorry 4 him. Hope he does not get made fun of 4 either choice you make! xoxoxoxo
Reply:GABIE,
A PEDIATRIC DENTIST CAN ALWAYS EXTRACT CONSIDERING HE'S SO YOUNG. REMEMBER, NOTHING BUT PLAIN WATER AT NIGHT, NO MILK, JUICE OR ANYTHING IN A BOTTLE CONTAINING SUGAR. THESE UPPER TEETH WOULD START TO BE REPLACED BY ADULT TEETH WHEN HE'S AROUND 7.
Reply:Put the crown. My teeth are messed up because the Dentist had to take it out.Just put the crown it dosen't hurt a bit and the teeth will be straight and he won't need braces!
Reply:First you need to ask the dentist if the crowns would be siliver crowns, because most dentist office will only put silver crowns on baby teeth. Then ask the price difference in both procedures, and choose whats best for you.

My daughter fell and hit her front teeth. Now one of them is gray... Anyone else who has had this happen???
At the time of the fall, her teeth looked fine, but her gums were all bruised and bloody. Now that her gums have healed, one of her front top teeth is gray. She is only 2, so they are baby teeth of course.
I've read about this online, and learned that teeth can become bruised. Sometimes it heals and the tooth even turns back to white, best case scenario. Worst case seems to be that it could become abcessed and need to be pulled, and she would have to look like a pumpkin until she gets her adult teeth. I REALLY hope that doesnt happen, but I know we just have to wait and see.
What I want to know is if anyone else has had a child with this same problem. I'd like to know if its more common for the tooth to turn out fine, or for it to need pulled. Thanks!
My daughter fell and hit her front teeth. Now one of them is gray... Anyone else who has had this happen???
Unfortunately, this happened to my nephew and after it turned gray it ended up having to be pulled. There are such great alternatives now -- I'd suggest a visit to the dentist because he should be able to tell you what's going on right away.
Reply:I don't have a child with this problem but one of my friends, when I was in 5th grade, fell out of a chair and hit her teeth on the floor. Now, ten years later, they're still gray!? Her color didnt go away. *Since they're baby teeth it's not permanent.
Reply:It's possible that the nerve was affected, in which case the tooth will die. If you haven't seen a dentist yet, you need to. Hopefully her permanent tooth will not be affected, and perhaps you don't have to pull the baby tooth...but you need to check with a professional.
At the age of 10 I fell and chipped my 2 front teeth. I was at the dentist the same day, getting checked out. Luckily, the nerve didn't die so my teeth are fine now as an adult, except that the chip is still slightly visible.
Reply:My younger brother had that happen. His tooth remained grey until it fell out.
Reply:I fell off of bunk beds when I was four years old.
The grey tooth thing happened. My parents said I had a gray tooth for the better part of six months.
They thought the issue was over. It wasn't. When I lost all of my baby teeth I ended up getting the next tooth in with a bright yellowish/brown color right in the middle. The dentist ended up putting me under [I was seven at the time and thought it was awesome! lol] drilling a hole in that tooth and filling it in with the shade closer to my tooth's color.
Sounds like a lot but it really didn't make a difference to me. Hopefully, you'll have dental insurance [if you don't already] when the time comes. She'll be fine. I hope this helps! Best of Luck!
Reply:if the tooth is grey, that means its dead... and needs to be pulled out by a dentist before it affects the permanent teeth... if you wait too long that dead tooth can affect the adult ones..
Reply:She busted the nerve in her tooth. It happened to my mom...
Reply:I had this happen with my son when he was about 2 or 3 he hit his 2 front teeth on his crib they ended up turning a grey color went to dentist and had him checked out and he said that all was fine just that the nerve had died and if they gave him any problems bring him back and they would pull them.. but he was fine had to go around with grey teeth for a while but then he lost them and he now has 2 beautiful adult teeth....
Reply:yes, almost same thing happen to my daughter, except it involved her two front teeth...took her to dentist and he said wait and see...well...the two injured teeth ending up abcessing and went into the tooth on each side of the original two teeth....so she ended up having to get the four front teeth out...surgically...so my advice would be to keep a close watch, and if a dentist says wait and see....get a second opinion....good news...her teeth came in perfectly and she has a beautiful set of teeth and great smile.
Reply:you should bring her to a dentist.they are the best at determining this stuff
Reply:What did the dentist say? you did take her right?
Reply:Both of my sons got the grey tooth as toddlers. They were wild little ones. They weren't abscessed. They stayed grey until they fell out naturally at age 7 or so. Their permanent teeth came in shortly afterward and they were white. They are teenagers now and still have very nice white teeth.
She is not too young to visit a dentist. Check to see if their is a pediatric dentist in your area.
Reply:I would just take them to the dentist and let them look at it... Just my opinion...
Reply:My daughter who is now almost 10 was on a folding chair when she was about 4 and it collapsed and she ended up biffing on the table on her way down. Reply:The same thing happened to my son, minus the blood. He was 3 at the time. The (front) baby tooth died and turned grey but the dentist saw no reason to remove the tooth, since it holds a place for the permanent one and the gum did not become infected. I had to keep an eye on the area and finally about 2 years after the accident the tooth had to be pulled. Best of luck.

Puppy teeth falling out - bloody root?
Just wondering if this is normal or not.
We have a 5 month old coonhound and his puppy teeth are starting to fall out. I've found a couple today (the first ones) but they are somewhat bloody at the root level.
Puppy is acting normal...eating, drinking, playing...but he's had a couple raw hides today (checked with our vet, he OK'ed it). Also, I checked his mouth...he doesn't have any glaring gaps...some nubby adult teeth, so it looks OK inside.
Is the bloody inside (for lack of a better word) of the teeth normal or should I be concerned?
Puppy teeth falling out - bloody root?
Yes, It may have come out before it was ready, but it won't hurt anything. Completely normal.
Arent you glad he's finally losing those puppy needle teeth!!!! I know I would be!
Reply:This is normal- he may have pulled it out chewing on something, it may have come out before the root totally dissolved. As long as he isn't experiencing any pain, don't worry about it. It's normal. Just avoid the really hard toys until his adult teeth start coming in.
Reply:I've found a few teeth over the years that had some blood on them. And your puppy seems fine, so doesn't sound like you need to worry.
One thing my puppies always appreciated was when I wet and old wash cloth, then froze it and gave it to them to chew on. Seemed to be soothing to sore gums. Also lots of toys of different textures to chew on while he's teething will be appreciated by him.
Reply:it si nothing you know how kids teeth fall out well thats like dogs and so it will get better but it will hurt at first so you dont have to worry.
Reply:there's nothing to worry about it is normal for that to happen especially if he was chewing on some raw hides, that just means that the teeth were loose when he chewed on the raw hides. so it is normal for it to happen.
Reply:Its fine
Reply:everything is normal and yes you will see some blood at the base of the tooth. when he is about 1-1 1/2 yrs. old he will start loosing his puppy molars. if you find them on the floor they look like tooth caps, this is normal also.
Reply:He/She probably is teething and it is normal think about it our teeth fall out and we got new ones well that is the same as dogs so don't worry nothing is wrong! :)
Reply:this is normal, hes just loosing his baby teeth and it may be bloody from the raw hide bones. As long as he isnt in pain and is doing every thing else ok (eating, drinking, peeing, pooping) then he is fine

When will my dog's teeth stop growing?
I have a 4 year old Alaskan malamute. Obviously, she has all her adult teeth, but some of them don't look like they have grown in completely. The teeth next to her bottom "fangs" are small and are not at the same level as her other teeth. Also, her teeth in the back just erupted a few weeks ago and she is starting to chew a lot on sticks, and rubbery toys. I heard that dogs don't get wisdom teeth, but what is going on?
When will my dog's teeth stop growing?
at 4 years old your dogs teeth are all grown in take your dog to a vet to make sure she doesn't have an abcess or an infection in her mouth(teeth erupting?) she could be chewing on sticks because of the pain. also her bottom teeth could be slightly chipped.
Reply:ok those are retained baby teeth and need to be removed by your vet. im surprised that he didnt notice them when he does the yearly exam on your dog. They have a potential for causing dental issues. check with your vet for a price on this procedure.

Baby teeth's?
I am 22 years old and still i got baby teeth's in my back teeth
Can i still get the adult teeth's?
Thanks
Baby teeth's?
I don't know. Probably x-rays can tell if you have the adult teeth or not, they will be inbeded in your scull
Reply:You will need an x-ray to tell you if you have teeth growing underneath. Then you will have to have them pulled. Its really not that rare :)
http://battles.myyearbook.com/?battleid=...
Reply:depends, your adult teeth may be trapped sideways in the gum under the baby teeth (x-rays and a dentist will tell you if this is the case) If they are, an Orthodontist may help this. But probably not, sometimes teeth are congenitally missing and your baby teeth are then retained.
Reply:go to the dentist for xrays..they will be able to tell you if you have adult teeth coming in.. I do know its possible to be born without wisdom teeth..who knows if its possible regarding other teeth.. I am sure its possible.

1) By what age should all of the *MILK* teeth be in and 2) does the fact that some milk teeth are missing imply that the adult teeth will also be missing in those same spots down the line? Thanks!

a dogs adult teeth are usually in between 6-8 months of age. and it does not necessarily mean that just because some of the deciduous teeth are missing that the adult teeth will be missing.
add- adult incisors (front teeth) do not usually start coming in until 4 months of age so not to worry about your little one.
Reply:dogs only kinda star getting their milk teeth about six weeks.i wouldn't worry about some of them being missing it doesn;t mean they wont have a full set of choppers when their older.i'v a three year old boxer who still has some milk teeth so dont worry about it.
Reply:they userally have their baby teeth by the time they are ready to leave the mom and their new set at around 6mths. my poochi is 8 mts and still has a few baby teeth next to the new ones and when i have him altered i will have them removed since they are still pretty tight in there. he has a few spots where there are no new teeth but they still might come in. he can still do a lot of damage and i have no slippers left, soles and all, along with chair legs.socks runners etc. lol
Reply:Baby teeth are in by seven or eight weeks. Shih tzus don't always have the best dentition, so I'm not surprised that her incisors are "hidden" in her gums. This isn't necessarily an indication that she won't have all of her adult teeth.

Can porcelain dental caps be put on baby teeth?
I was wondering because my good friend is an adult and she has 2 baby teeth that were not backed up with adult teeth.
can the dental caps be used to make her teeth more appealing on the baby teeth?
Can porcelain dental caps be put on baby teeth?
Yes, she could get crowns (also called "caps", but they're more complicated than that), but if they're healthy, perfect teeth, the dentist may prefer to place a veneer. That is a thinner sheet of porcelain that is placed on the labial (front) surface of a tooth only. Less tooth structure needs to be removed by the drill and it's less traumatic for the tooth, so it's best if it's for a purely aesthetic reason. Full porcelain crowns actually involve removing a LOT of tooth structure, which always carries risks.
She should go to a dentist and find out! It's the only way to know for sure for her particular mouth.
Reply:she can try better porcelain crowns, there are more resistant.

My 21months old teeth??
my son take a pacifier and his teeth are like the shape of the pacifier like his tooth don't meet in the middle only on the side... since they are his baby teeth will his adult teeth be like that too????????? thanks in advanse
My 21months old teeth??
It's not a problem, but you should be getting rid of the pacifier soon. His adult teeth should grow in straight if there is enough room on his jaw. Mine was small so my teeth were very crooked and I had 4 years of braces.
Reply:really not sure
I wouldn't panic
Reply:No, they won't... my son had a pacifier til he was 3 yrs old (i know, way too old to have one) and his teeth stuck out a bit from having his nuk all the time. Once he stopped having his nuk, they started to go back to normal... now he's 8 yrs old and you would never know that he had one.
Reply:he is old enough to see a dentist, take him
Reply:Depends on the dentist as to how they respond. Basically, at 21 mons old, don't worry.
Once he reaches 4 that's when to really break him of it. I say that's too old, but coming from how/when the teeth form, that's the latest.
Reply:my granddaughter sucks her thumb and her teeth are shaped right around her thumb too! At least you can take a pacifier away - maybe there's hope. Orthodonture is definitely in my granddaughter's future~!

3 teeth pulled out?
i had 3 baby teeth pulled out yesterday ( the adult teeth had grown already) well 1 came out completely and 2 came out about 3/4. its is all red and my gums are like halfway up my teeth like its swolen. how long does this take to go down? i got them pulled out at about 4:10 and its 6:40 the next day.
3 teeth pulled out?
A few days.
I had 4 teeth taken out so that I could get my brace, it took a few days for it to calm down and be able to eat solid foods again.
Reply:what do you mean 2 came out 3/4 s? did they extract them or not? I think you mean that your adult teeth were already emerging underneath.....keep an eye on the swelling...any sign of infection go back....meanwhile, wash mouth out with boiled water that u let cool down and add some salt....do this after food....careful brushing - avoid the area inflamed,,,,,asprin is not good...thins blood may lead 2 bleeding, use paracetamol based pain killer...should go down soon - call dentist and ask if u are really worried...

I'm 14 and my teeth are so loose they're about to start falling out. Now what do I do?
The dentist said they're all my adult teeth, which I pretty much figured. But he also said most of my front teeth probly aren't saveable and a lot of the rest are doubtful. It's from advance gum disease he said comes from a variety of things, like hormone changes, and other stuff at my age, and not brushing very good or flossing and whatever. I know I probly could have done a lot to keep my teeth in better shape like brush better or whatever, but now that they'll be coming out very soon one way or another, is it like a really big turn off for guys? I mean worse than bad looking teeth? or the same as bad looking teeth.? I already have really bad looking teeth, so I know most guys are turned off by them. what will happen when they fall out or get pulled out tho? What will guys think then?

i am also 14 and though noone enjoys toothless people, you might consider dentures for childern
Reply:You need to have you parents check their insurance to see if dental implants are covered. If they are then consider implants. See your dentist again soon and discuss with him what options are available to help you and also what he needs you to do to help protect the teeth you still have.
Reply:Why are you asking this question again?
Reply:Get false ones and don't tell them unless they ask...what made you at such a young age, lose your teeth ??? Bad teeth are a turn off no matter what your age. Sorry...
Reply:consult to your parents.....
Reply:I have moderate periodontitis. I have a similar problem and now I have the same fears! I hope that I don't lose all of them! But, you should be talking about this with your dentist. There are porcelin veneers that you can have put in! Expensive but they look and feel like real teeth!

I have seen people come in with loose teeth and the doctor has done wonders for him. A regular Dentist cannot save your teeth a Periodontal Dentist can... It is worth it. SOme people have surgery which sounds like oh my god. but it really is not bad... People say they do not have pain really...

Dental question about milk teeth and braces?
A 15 yo has got 2 milk teeth (middle of the lower jaw, left and right side) where an xray supposedly showed that there wont be "adult" teeth replacing them.
The dentist suggests extracing the milk teeth and intends to use braces for pulling other teeth into the gap.
To me that seems a bit strange, esp. since these teeth will be used for chewing and have to take a lot of pressure for the rest of their life not being up straight after being pulled over...
Has anybody heard of a similar procedure being done already, or would anybody know where I could get more info on this?
Dental question about milk teeth and braces?
Very common orthodontic procedure. Lots of times orthodontists will have the teeth that your 15 yo is missing removed to make space in overcrowding situations.
The teeth won't "pull over". The entire tooth will move forward, crown and root. The space will close completely.
There's a slight chance, it depends on our 15 yo's bite, that the orthodontist may recommend pulling the opposing upper teeth that match the missing lower ones to maintain a perfect bite.
The orthodontist that you choose should have before and after pictures of similar cases to show you to put your mind at ease.
Reply:There are many orthodontists who I refer to who practice this way. Many people need to have the adult counterparts of those baby teeth extracted to make more room, and then braces put on after. Your child is lucky, in a way, that those particular teeth are recommended to be extracted. Even when baby teeth are retained into adulthood, they very often are lost and need to be replaced anyway. If they are removed and the space is closed with braces, this may be the best alternative. Take your child to a different orthodontist for a 2nd opinion if you'd like, but it sounds like standard practice to me. Best of luck.

Did your child's teeth do this?? Please help. I am concerned.?
My daughter's bottom teeth protrude over her top teeth (underbite?) She only has four teeth on top and three on the bottom so far but when she closes her mouth, her top teeth are completely covered by her bottom ones. She has no trouble eating and no problem with her speech (just starting to talk, and what she says is very clear). My husband asked our neighbour who is a dentist about it and he said it is not a problem but I would like to know if this has happened to your child and if the problem corrected itself with time or when the adult teeth came in. Thank you for your help.
Did your child's teeth do this?? Please help. I am concerned.?
There is no need to concern yourself at this age (2yo?) - it is too early for any treatment.
When she has turned 7 and has had her adult 1st molars come thru at the back, then take her for an orthodontic assessment. They will be able to give you some idea of where she's going and possible treatment options.
Reply:My kids teeth were not like that, but I would listen to the Dentist, he is the edcuated one in this department.
Reply:If the dentist says it isn't a problem and she isn't having trouble eating, then I wouldn't worry about it yet. How old is she? Two-ish?
My baby didn't have an underbite when her teeth came in, but I've heard that some young ones can have an underbite phase that goes away with time.
Reply:Your daughter definitely has an under bite and there are two things you can do
1. Take your daughter to an orthodontist and get her braces at the age of 9 or 10 because at that age, her bones are still growing and the braces could shape the jaw/bone structure properly, fixing the under bite.
2. If you don't braces, she would have to get jaw surgery where they they push her jaw back so the top and bottom can meet properly.
I think braces is the better choice, but make sure that you treat this problem early and not later.
Reply:Keep an eye on it as she gets older. There is really nothing you can do at that age. It is very good that you have a dentist neighbor, I wish I did. I currently have an underbite and have had it since I was about 8 or 9. They gave me headgear to fix it, which it did, but took it off too soon and my underbite came back. I got braces on when I was 13 and now at the age of 17 still have them on, and currently waiting for my jaw surgery this summer, right after graduation. :( My problem is that I have an under-developed upper jaw so they are going to move it forward during the surgery.
Best of luck to your daughter! I hope it goes away but if not, get to the orthodontist when she is a little older.

Im geting teeth pulled and im realy freaked out please help.?
Alright I need some help. On Monday im having 2 teeth pulled. There adult teeth and there my top molers. They are mostly broken down to the gum and my dentist is calling this dentil surgery. Im 15 years old and have never had a tooth pulled I no it will hurt but how much and do you think theyl give me gas, a shot or put me to sleep. Iv never had a tooth pulled how do they do it. Will they give me mediction afterwerds and are there any special things I need to do before or after surgery. Please help me out i am very nervious.
Im geting teeth pulled and im realy freaked out please help.?
I had four done in one sitting. It's not so bad. They will likely give you sleepy juice in needle form. They use a topical anesthetic too so you won't feel much. It does not hurt at all. Just a little pressure and a sore stomach from swallowing blood. Just enjoy the days of ice cream afterward. Nothing to worry about.;
Reply:I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled and it didnt hurt a bit its just wierd cause you can feel everything but it doesnt hurt cause of the pain shot! I didnt even have to take the pain meds afterwards but be aware afterwards youll be sleepy and take a nap you might wake up to a blood stained pillow and it freaks people out but dont worry about it!
Reply:They will give you gas or a shot, so it won't hurt. You might feel a little stick if they give you a shot, but if they do that, they will put a numbing agent on it first.
Just remember to close your eyes before they start working and don't look over at all the tools, you will be fine.
Reply:they give you really good drugs, you probably won't eat for a day or two but almost everybody has their wisdom teeth pulled, it's not a big deal
Reply:Its actually not too bad. I had it done with just novicane and was just fine.
I asked for no gas...cant stand the stuff.
The procedure was done so fast I hardly realized it.
It did bleed a little for about 2-3 hours. Pain was very minor. 1 advil was able to relieve the pain.
Reply:dont worry, dentists are a millions times easier to bare with while going there for stuff like this
they'll either give you 'happy gas', medication, or a shot that will help numb the mouth so you wont even feel it.
you'll be fine, its just fun to get put to sleep w/ that happy gas, and having your mouth go numb is cool cause it feels so funny that you cant feel it
so dont worry, it'll be over and done with with no pain at all
Reply:Don't worry, You really will be fine. You won't feel a thing. I got my widsom teeth pulled. It's such a trip. My dentist gave me a mask (maybe laughing gas?? can't remember, but doesn't really make you laugh, just makes you go to sleep) and told me to count backwards from 100. I got to 98 and I was out. When I woke up I was groggy and later my mouth hurt, but it was fine. Not EVEN as scary as it sounds. They really do know what they're doing. You might get a shot beforehand, but it won't be that bad. It's like a filling shot. Just close your eyes. Good luck! I hope it's not too bad for you.
Reply:Stay calm and don't freak out. It's not that bad. You'll probably get a shot or maybe 2 to numb the pain. Just a little stick. Doesn't hurt that bad at all. Not as bad as the toothache. Afterwards you'll probably get a perscription for anti-biotics to keep infection out and you'll probably get some good pain killers too. It's been my experience (i've had 3 pulled) that you might need one or two of the pain killers that day and then you won't need then anymore. Just remember it's mostly in your head and the dentist knows what he's doing.
Reply:Did they give you any instructions whatsoever on what will be done. If not, ask them. They are your best resource. When I was in high school I needed my wisdom teeth pulled, and I never had teeth pulled before. For me, they had to put me under. Each person is different, though, and it depends what your parents decide. Sometimes health insurance won't cover the gas but they will cover a shot. I've never had anything done with a shot before. I am pretty certain you will be given pain medication afterwards, though.
And it's ok to be nervous. Just don't freak out. Easier said than done, right? Just try doing some yoga, and on that day, see if you can bring in some music you can listen to on headphones or something.
But again...the best resource is to talk to your dentist. Keep in mind they are professionals and they will do what they can to help you and inform you. If they don't, you ask them. It's your family hiring them, remember. They're paid to serve you.
Reply:Well, for braces, I had to get 4 pulled. Im 13, never had novacaine or anything, so I was like seriously freakin nervous. For me (idk if its the same for you but it should be about the same) here is what they did:
1) Numbing gel on gums
2) Shot *wait to numb about 10-15 mins*
3) Wiggle tooth back and forth
4) Its out!
*You dont feel much, just a tiny bit of pressure when they are pushing and wiggling the tooth, but you dont even know its out when it is! Since you have molars that are broken, it will probably be a little different. Good Luck!

I'm 14 and my teeth are so loose they're about to start falling out. Now what?

Get your freaking parents to get you to a dentist that will refer you somewher to get dentures or post for fake teeth. No guys like teethless women. Well at least I don't think so.
Reply:Umm i don't realy know

Does Oral sex make your teeth shift and become crooked?
Becuase you know how you hear how it's bad for kids to suck their thumbs becuase it makes their teeth come in crooked. What happens if adults suck penises alot. Will that make my nice teeth shift and become crappy.
I would think not since we have our adult teeth and they are fully in but just want to make sure.
Does Oral sex make your teeth shift and become crooked?
if you live with a dick in your mouth then you will need to take it out once and in a while so your teeth dont shift...but other wise no its fine...

And only if you do it as often as a child sucks his thumb. And also, adluts teeth can shift just like anyone else's. Otherwise braces would be pointless.

Adult teeth, if not properly cared for, can shift about in the gums and rot out as easily as baby teeth.

No! Fake teeth!! (see details)?
I have braces and I'm missing 4 adult teeth, but the babies are still in. Two of which have already come out. Now I'm in 8th grade, and I'll probably get my braces off in sophmore year. The problem is after that, I need a fake tooth retainer on the top. Now, when I start kissing, will the fake tooth retainer fall out and will it make the girls not want to kiss you? Because it seems the retainer won't stay on the top. And will having two fake teeth turn a girl off?
No! Fake teeth!! (see details)?
seriously a big ol gap would be worse. really i have a friend who has his two front bottom teeth are fake, he has actually taken them out before and it is way worse and more of a turn off to see the big gap.but a girl friend of course will get over that, altho i would warn her first if there is a chance they could come out. how embarrassing that could be...good luck
Reply:tell her about it b/f you start kissing and it shouldn't be a problem. Good Luck!

Reply:You should talk to your parents and dentist. there are teeth fake teeth that they can drill into your gum called implants there is a screw that the put in your jawbone and then snap the tooth in. It doesnt come out unless you remove it. There are many types ones that are there and need to be removed by a dentist and ones you can just pop out.

Reply:You are right about the implants. You should also know they are 3-5K EACH and are not guaranteed to take (rejections do occur), and we cant be sure you will the ample height, width and density of bone for implant surgery. Have you discussed having permanent bridges placed, (this is a seies of three crowns with the center one being a fake tooth). A bridge is cemented on permanently and they look GREAT. Besides did you know that process from start to finish (to have implants done) is about 4-6 months and most oral surgeons will not place multiple implants in different areas of the outh at one time. Seriously, they aren't what they are cracked up to be.

Adult tooth coming out!?
1 of my mom's molars is really loose %26amp; the gums are so swollen that the tooth looks swollen, even though i know teeth can't swell. She said she'd be able to taste if she had an absess %26amp; that she knows what she's doing because she used to be an orthodonic assisstant, but im worried because she refuses to go to the dentist. I say since she used to work with teeth she should know better than to put it off. She's incredibly stubborn about avoiding docters-she had a golf ball size abcess on her genital area once %26amp; i had to beg her 2 go 2 the docter. She agreed but then i went to go in her room %26amp; it was locked so i got nervous bc i had a hunch what she was doing so i picked the lock %26amp; there she is on the floor stabbing it herself to avoid the docter. I had to have my grandmother scream at her for her to go get antibiotics. Im worried shes pulling the same crap again, but shes 52 %26amp; im only 17 so i cant do anything about it. If it gets worse im gunna call granny again but i dont want 2 have 2
Adult tooth coming out!?
just get a needle and put it over fire and poke it,it will pop
Reply:She'd be able to taste it if she had an abscess?
First time I've heard that. I probably had one and couldn't taste anything unusual. I think she fibbed to you when she said that.
If there IS an abscess she does need to got to the dentist SOON. If the infection is left untreated and gets into the blood stream it can be dangerous. And possibly deadly.
If you can't encourage her, talk to whoever else you may know...another family member, a friend of hers, someone who can also try to talk some sense into her. She may not want to see any doctors or dentists, but she's asking to put herself in a worse situation than what a simple appointment could ever be.
And this is coming from a dental-phobic person! But I wanted my tooth fixed ASAP because it hurt so bad.
(Orthodontic assistants I'm pretty sure help the orthodontist apply and work on braces, not oral health. I had braces...the assistants didn't exactly have much to do with any issues other than braces maintenance.)
P.S. "...there she is on the floor stabbing it herself to avoid the docter."
As much as she may hate the idea and fight against it, someone should probably also get to into see a psychologist in the near future too...that's a bit extreme just to avoid seeing a doctor about something that shouldn't be left to a 'home remedy'.
Reply:Hello, First, just because there is an abscess doesn't mean you will automatically feel it. The fact that the gum is so swollen could indicate that if it is an abscess it's working it's way to the surface. If it breaks through, "then" she will indeed taste it. An abscess destroys bone, if your Mom really has dental assisting experience she should know that, Swollen gums and the tooth being loose is a text book case of an abscess. She should also know that an abscess is a pocket of infection and if she has any other health issues such as cardiac problems and the infection manages to enter the blood stream she could end up in a life threatening situation. When infection gets into the blood stream it goes to the weakest part of the body and that can be very very serious.,,,,Don't want to unnecessarily scare you, but people have died from tooth infection getting into the blood stream. She should immediately be placed on antibiotics, of course the DDS will do that the minute he sees her condition. I doubt he would attempt to extract if there is a great deal of infection present. Xrays will of course answer that question. I wish you well and hope you can get her to do the right thing,,,,see a dentist immediately.

Is it normal 4 teeth 2 be slightly loose when in ur adult years?
just wonderin
Is it normal 4 teeth 2 be slightly loose when in ur adult years?
No, after 18 depending if you have wisdom teeth or not. You would have to get them out. After that you should have no teeth problems. You should probably see your orthodontist. It does depend how old you are. It also does depend if you have had braces. If you have you should not have no wobbly teeth.
Reply:yes, depending, what ones are they?
Reply:my guess is mmmmm, yes.
Reply:No I would go to your dentist for a check up.
Reply:I don't think it's normal at all.See your dentist.
Reply:I think yes
Reply:i had a loose tooth and if it hurts that means u need a root canal treatment ... im 16 tho
Reply:Yes, mine do sometimes very rarely, but it's not serious, don't worry
:-)
Reply:all depends on how wobbly they are i guess - like are they really wobbly like when you were little and your milk teeth were coming out, or do they just move a tiny bit?
Its a good idea to get a checkup at your dentists every 6-12 months anyway, so if you're worried why not make an appointment.
Reply:YES, YES ,YES.
Reply:No movement is NOT normal, and up to 0.25 mm is what's considered normal. If you suspect the movement is greater than 0.25 mm than you need to go to a dentist and have some x-rays taken, to determine if there is any bone loss.
Reply:Yes madam it sure is.......... but keep on brushing for 2 times a day.... morning and night....... u need not worry.... and yes visit ur dentist often.... thats it........
Reply:A very small amount of tooth movement is normal as each tooth is hled in its socket but elastic ligaments. These act as "shock absorbers" when you bite. However this normal movement is very small. You can feel it if you clench your teeth very tightly but if one tooth seems particularly loose or if your teeth are visible mobile you should see your dentist. Gum disease is normally a very slow process so if you visit your dentist every 6 months your dentist will give you plenty warning before it develops into a serious problem.
Reply:It depends on how old you are? Its not normal if your say below 50.
