Alright I need some help. On Monday im having 2 teeth pulled. There adult teeth and there my top molers. They are mostly broken down to the gum and my dentist is calling this dentil surgery. Im 15 years old and have never had a tooth pulled I no it will hurt but how much and do you think theyl give me gas, a shot or put me to sleep. Iv never had a tooth pulled how do they do it. Will they give me mediction afterwerds and are there any special things I need to do before or after surgery. Please help me out i am very nervious.
Im geting teeth pulled and im realy freaked out please help.?
I had four done in one sitting. It's not so bad. They will likely give you sleepy juice in needle form. They use a topical anesthetic too so you won't feel much. It does not hurt at all. Just a little pressure and a sore stomach from swallowing blood. Just enjoy the days of ice cream afterward. Nothing to worry about.;
Reply:I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled and it didnt hurt a bit its just wierd cause you can feel everything but it doesnt hurt cause of the pain shot! I didnt even have to take the pain meds afterwards but be aware afterwards youll be sleepy and take a nap you might wake up to a blood stained pillow and it freaks people out but dont worry about it!
Reply:They will give you gas or a shot, so it won't hurt. You might feel a little stick if they give you a shot, but if they do that, they will put a numbing agent on it first.
Just remember to close your eyes before they start working and don't look over at all the tools, you will be fine.
Reply:they give you really good drugs, you probably won't eat for a day or two but almost everybody has their wisdom teeth pulled, it's not a big deal
Reply:Its actually not too bad. I had it done with just novicane and was just fine.
I asked for no gas...cant stand the stuff.
The procedure was done so fast I hardly realized it.
It did bleed a little for about 2-3 hours. Pain was very minor. 1 advil was able to relieve the pain.
Reply:dont worry, dentists are a millions times easier to bare with while going there for stuff like this
they'll either give you 'happy gas', medication, or a shot that will help numb the mouth so you wont even feel it.
you'll be fine, its just fun to get put to sleep w/ that happy gas, and having your mouth go numb is cool cause it feels so funny that you cant feel it
so dont worry, it'll be over and done with with no pain at all
Reply:Don't worry, You really will be fine. You won't feel a thing. I got my widsom teeth pulled. It's such a trip. My dentist gave me a mask (maybe laughing gas?? can't remember, but doesn't really make you laugh, just makes you go to sleep) and told me to count backwards from 100. I got to 98 and I was out. When I woke up I was groggy and later my mouth hurt, but it was fine. Not EVEN as scary as it sounds. They really do know what they're doing. You might get a shot beforehand, but it won't be that bad. It's like a filling shot. Just close your eyes. Good luck! I hope it's not too bad for you.
Reply:Stay calm and don't freak out. It's not that bad. You'll probably get a shot or maybe 2 to numb the pain. Just a little stick. Doesn't hurt that bad at all. Not as bad as the toothache. Afterwards you'll probably get a perscription for anti-biotics to keep infection out and you'll probably get some good pain killers too. It's been my experience (i've had 3 pulled) that you might need one or two of the pain killers that day and then you won't need then anymore. Just remember it's mostly in your head and the dentist knows what he's doing.
Reply:Did they give you any instructions whatsoever on what will be done. If not, ask them. They are your best resource. When I was in high school I needed my wisdom teeth pulled, and I never had teeth pulled before. For me, they had to put me under. Each person is different, though, and it depends what your parents decide. Sometimes health insurance won't cover the gas but they will cover a shot. I've never had anything done with a shot before. I am pretty certain you will be given pain medication afterwards, though.
And it's ok to be nervous. Just don't freak out. Easier said than done, right? Just try doing some yoga, and on that day, see if you can bring in some music you can listen to on headphones or something.
But again...the best resource is to talk to your dentist. Keep in mind they are professionals and they will do what they can to help you and inform you. If they don't, you ask them. It's your family hiring them, remember. They're paid to serve you.
Reply:Well, for braces, I had to get 4 pulled. Im 13, never had novacaine or anything, so I was like seriously freakin nervous. For me (idk if its the same for you but it should be about the same) here is what they did:
1) Numbing gel on gums
2) Shot *wait to numb about 10-15 mins*
3) Wiggle tooth back and forth
4) Its out!
*You dont feel much, just a tiny bit of pressure when they are pushing and wiggling the tooth, but you dont even know its out when it is! Since you have molars that are broken, it will probably be a little different. Good Luck!

I'm 14 and my teeth are so loose they're about to start falling out. Now what?
The dentist said they're all my adult teeth, which I pretty much figured. But he also said most of my front teeth probly aren't saveable and a lot of the rest are doubtful. It's from advance gum disease he said comes from a variety of things, like hormone changes, and other stuff at my age, and not brushing very good or flossing and whatever. I know I probly could have done a lot to keep my teeth in better shape like brush better or whatever, but now that they'll be coming out very soon one way or another, is it like a really big turn off for guys? I mean worse than bad looking teeth? or the same as bad looking teeth.? I already have really bad looking teeth, so I know most guys are turned off by them. what will happen when they fall out or get pulled out tho? What will guys think then?
I'm 14 and my teeth are so loose they're about to start falling out. Now what?
Get your freaking parents to get you to a dentist that will refer you somewher to get dentures or post for fake teeth. No guys like teethless women. Well at least I don't think so.
Reply:Umm i don't realy know

my ex had baby bottle gum diease and all his baby teeth rotted out and then his adult teeth from beign put to bed with milk and juice as a baby. he got dentures and unless you told you bout them you would never no. Dont worry shitt happens just find your way around it and move on!
Reply:The dentist is not going ot leave you with no teeth! They will do what they can and you may need partial dentures or some crowns, etc. There are a lot of things that can be done and then you will have nice looking teeth and no one will be the wiser.
I am sorry that you have to be going through this! How horrible at your age! I feel for you.

Does Oral sex make your teeth shift and become crooked?
Becuase you know how you hear how it's bad for kids to suck their thumbs becuase it makes their teeth come in crooked. What happens if adults suck penises alot. Will that make my nice teeth shift and become crappy.
I would think not since we have our adult teeth and they are fully in but just want to make sure.

if you live with a dick in your mouth then you will need to take it out once and in a while so your teeth dont shift...but other wise no its fine...

And only if you do it as often as a child sucks his thumb. And also, adluts teeth can shift just like anyone else's. Otherwise braces would be pointless.

Adult teeth, if not properly cared for, can shift about in the gums and rot out as easily as baby teeth.

No! Fake teeth!! (see details)?
I have braces and I'm missing 4 adult teeth, but the babies are still in. Two of which have already come out. Now I'm in 8th grade, and I'll probably get my braces off in sophmore year. The problem is after that, I need a fake tooth retainer on the top. Now, when I start kissing, will the fake tooth retainer fall out and will it make the girls not want to kiss you? Because it seems the retainer won't stay on the top. And will having two fake teeth turn a girl off?
No! Fake teeth!! (see details)?
seriously a big ol gap would be worse. really i have a friend who has his two front bottom teeth are fake, he has actually taken them out before and it is way worse and more of a turn off to see the big gap.but a girl friend of course will get over that, altho i would warn her first if there is a chance they could come out. how embarrassing that could be...good luck

Reply:You should talk to your parents and dentist. there are teeth fake teeth that they can drill into your gum called implants there is a screw that the put in your jawbone and then snap the tooth in. It doesnt come out unless you remove it. There are many types ones that are there and need to be removed by a dentist and ones you can just pop out.

Reply:You are right about the implants. You should also know they are 3-5K EACH and are not guaranteed to take (rejections do occur), and we cant be sure you will the ample height, width and density of bone for implant surgery. Have you discussed having permanent bridges placed, (this is a seies of three crowns with the center one being a fake tooth). A bridge is cemented on permanently and they look GREAT. Besides did you know that process from start to finish (to have implants done) is about 4-6 months and most oral surgeons will not place multiple implants in different areas of the outh at one time. Seriously, they aren't what they are cracked up to be.

Adult tooth coming out!?
1 of my mom's molars is really loose %26amp; the gums are so swollen that the tooth looks swollen, even though i know teeth can't swell. She said she'd be able to taste if she had an absess %26amp; that she knows what she's doing because she used to be an orthodonic assisstant, but im worried because she refuses to go to the dentist. I say since she used to work with teeth she should know better than to put it off. She's incredibly stubborn about avoiding docters-she had a golf ball size abcess on her genital area once %26amp; i had to beg her 2 go 2 the docter. She agreed but then i went to go in her room %26amp; it was locked so i got nervous bc i had a hunch what she was doing so i picked the lock %26amp; there she is on the floor stabbing it herself to avoid the docter. I had to have my grandmother scream at her for her to go get antibiotics. Im worried shes pulling the same crap again, but shes 52 %26amp; im only 17 so i cant do anything about it. If it gets worse im gunna call granny again but i dont want 2 have 2
Adult tooth coming out!?
just get a needle and put it over fire and poke it,it will pop
Reply:She'd be able to taste it if she had an abscess?
First time I've heard that. I probably had one and couldn't taste anything unusual. I think she fibbed to you when she said that.
If there IS an abscess she does need to got to the dentist SOON. If the infection is left untreated and gets into the blood stream it can be dangerous. And possibly deadly.
If you can't encourage her, talk to whoever else you may know...another family member, a friend of hers, someone who can also try to talk some sense into her. She may not want to see any doctors or dentists, but she's asking to put herself in a worse situation than what a simple appointment could ever be.
And this is coming from a dental-phobic person! But I wanted my tooth fixed ASAP because it hurt so bad.
(Orthodontic assistants I'm pretty sure help the orthodontist apply and work on braces, not oral health. I had braces...the assistants didn't exactly have much to do with any issues other than braces maintenance.)
P.S. "...there she is on the floor stabbing it herself to avoid the docter."
As much as she may hate the idea and fight against it, someone should probably also get to into see a psychologist in the near future too...that's a bit extreme just to avoid seeing a doctor about something that shouldn't be left to a 'home remedy'.
Reply:Hello, First, just because there is an abscess doesn't mean you will automatically feel it. The fact that the gum is so swollen could indicate that if it is an abscess it's working it's way to the surface. If it breaks through, "then" she will indeed taste it. An abscess destroys bone, if your Mom really has dental assisting experience she should know that, Swollen gums and the tooth being loose is a text book case of an abscess. She should also know that an abscess is a pocket of infection and if she has any other health issues such as cardiac problems and the infection manages to enter the blood stream she could end up in a life threatening situation. When infection gets into the blood stream it goes to the weakest part of the body and that can be very very serious.,,,,Don't want to unnecessarily scare you, but people have died from tooth infection getting into the blood stream. She should immediately be placed on antibiotics, of course the DDS will do that the minute he sees her condition. I doubt he would attempt to extract if there is a great deal of infection present. Xrays will of course answer that question. I wish you well and hope you can get her to do the right thing,,,,see a dentist immediately.

Is it normal 4 teeth 2 be slightly loose when in ur adult years?
just wonderin
Is it normal 4 teeth 2 be slightly loose when in ur adult years?
No, after 18 depending if you have wisdom teeth or not. You would have to get them out. After that you should have no teeth problems. You should probably see your orthodontist. It does depend how old you are. It also does depend if you have had braces. If you have you should not have no wobbly teeth.
Reply:yes, depending, what ones are they?
Reply:my guess is mmmmm, yes.
Reply:No I would go to your dentist for a check up.
Reply:I don't think it's normal at all.See your dentist.
Reply:I think yes

Reply:Yes, mine do sometimes very rarely, but it's not serious, don't worry
:-)
Reply:all depends on how wobbly they are i guess - like are they really wobbly like when you were little and your milk teeth were coming out, or do they just move a tiny bit?
Its a good idea to get a checkup at your dentists every 6-12 months anyway, so if you're worried why not make an appointment.
Reply:YES, YES ,YES.
Reply:No movement is NOT normal, and up to 0.25 mm is what's considered normal. If you suspect the movement is greater than 0.25 mm than you need to go to a dentist and have some x-rays taken, to determine if there is any bone loss.
Reply:Yes madam it sure is.......... but keep on brushing for 2 times a day.... morning and night....... u need not worry.... and yes visit ur dentist often.... thats it........
Reply:A very small amount of tooth movement is normal as each tooth is hled in its socket but elastic ligaments. These act as "shock absorbers" when you bite. However this normal movement is very small. You can feel it if you clench your teeth very tightly but if one tooth seems particularly loose or if your teeth are visible mobile you should see your dentist. Gum disease is normally a very slow process so if you visit your dentist every 6 months your dentist will give you plenty warning before it develops into a serious problem.
Reply:It depends on how old you are? Its not normal if your say below 50.

Is getting your wisdom teeth pulled worse/the same than getting other teeth pulled??
I have had a couple adult teeth pulled before with just laughing gas and novocaine.
I think my wisdom teeth are comeing in, and i was wondering if getting them pulled hurts more or the same as getting other teeth pulled??
Also what is an impacted tooth?

i got my wisdom teeth taken out two at a time at age 23
at first i was nervous about it, and asked to be put to sleep during the process. the dentist said the procedure would be so quick, there was no need. she was right! it was pretty much one, two, three. she gave me an extra shot of novacaine when i told her my gums were extra sensitive to pain, so im sure that helped a lot. i felt NO pain, just a tugging sensation, then out came the tooth.
i think an impacted tooth is when the tooth grows in at an angle and pushes the rest of your teeth together causing a lot of pain. the link below has a section on it.
good luck!
Reply:its not really bad...u get anestetic [spelled wrong, sry] (the stuff that puts u 2 sleep) then you wake up...in a couple hours you feel some pain...but its not too bad, eat soft food and drink milkshakes and smoothies.........but dont eat right after u wake up, u will feel sick...........and its about the same as getting normal teeth pulled
Reply:Wisdom teeth are generally a lot easier to extract than other teeth.
But if your wisdom teeth are just coming in, you must be fairly young. Why are you having adult teeth pulled at such a young age?
An impacted tooth is one where the gums are growing over the tooth, and I think it only happens to wisdom teeth.
And by the way, don't have them pulled unless you really need to.
Reply:Nope. I've had all of my Wisdom Teeth pulled- %26amp; it's NO worse than having any of the Others out... However, I've never had an Impacted Tooth (-that noise you hear- is me Knocking on wood!)... -So I can't help you there. Whatever the case though, it's nothing to worry about. It's the Worrying %26amp; the WAITING- that's the Hard part! -You'll be fine. :)
Reply:I had 4 teeth pulled and then got my wisdom teeth pulled and some cut out, most people get put to sleep, but since I can't then I was awake though the whole thing, it was worse than the other teeth, it hurt and I had to have them give me more pain medicine, like 4 more times, and after that, you have to clean them very good and take alot of medicine, and they put stitches in them, well they did mine because I had some cut out
