Once again, I'm having an issue with my newly adopted 1.5 yr old pomeranian. When I came home, the right side of her face was swollen. I inspected her and found what appeared to be a loose tooth. I did some research on the internet.. and found out that it was a retained deciduous (baby) tooth. Luckily there is only one. I'm wondering, since the tooth is so loose, if I should just leave it be or have it removed. Apparenly this should have been done around 6-8 months when the adult teeth came in, but I don't think her initial owner took much care of her.
Retained deciduous teeth?
I would take her to the vet and have them check and pull it. Since her face was swollen, she may have an abscess/infection and need to be on antibiotics.
Reply:Yes it should come out. Good place for bacteria to build up and cause other problems.
Call your vet to set it up, maybe a dental may be needed for a small dog, ask, one anesthesia is always better than having to have another in a few months.
Reply:I would seek the advice of your vet if your dogs face is swollen and see what he/she recommend.
