Need help about my sons teeth?

My son is seven years old and he has lost his bottom 2 teeth and they grew in fine. When he lost his top r i noticed that his adult tooth is coming in the comlete opposite way! (the side of the tooth is foremost instead of the flat front of the tooth)


He has an appointment on thursday, but i want to know how they would or if they can fix it. Can he have braces though he still has baby teeth.


I feel bad he said " i dont wanna look like a dork mom, can the dentist fix it"

This is highly individual. Personally, I tend to refer a patient to the orthodontist as soon as I know there will be problems. Often, I get a letter back saying thanks for the referral, but the child has been placed on 6 or 12 month recall. I would FAR prefer to have a child seen before they are ready for treatment instead of getting them there too late. If you can guide growth and development, it is far easier than waiting for the teeth to come in all wrong and then try to fix them. Ask your dentist for a recommendation and get an early consultation. It will most likely be free and you could also find out about costs.
Reply:the dentist is probably going to tell you that they will staighten as more teeth grow in, but unfortuantley they cant do anything till baby teeth are all gone
Reply:they often come thru crooked but straighten up later ,he wont be able to have a brace until he is about 13 and all his baby teeth have gone
Reply:ohhh, if you want to pay for brases twice and keep your son in brases for 6-7 years, I'm sure some dentist can put them on your son. Tough I would not (and did not do that to my kid), just for the simple reason, that if he can not take peer pressure at 7 than what are you going to do when he is 16?
Reply:I work in an oral surgeon's office and that problem is something that we fix all the time. You will have to wait until he is a little bit older though so that he has some permanent molars to attach braces to. Then, they will be able to cement a chain to that tooth which will tug on it for a few months, pulling it into the proper orientation. That procedure is not actually that expensive, although the braces may be.
Reply:Your son is too young, for braces, a he needs some adult molar teeth to fix the braces.


But usually the teeth straighten up, mostly due to the pressure of the tongue
