...have a dental plate at the front. all the commercial whiteners i have looked at state that they will not work on dentures/dental plates. do you know what would work -- to whiten BOTH my natural teeth and the plate?
Teeth whitening: i am a adult who has drank too much coffee! i would like to whiten my teeth at home, but?
Listerine whitening rinse.
Reply:I have a dozen crowns, so I know what you mean.
I think the plate will only clean up to what it was when it was made.
I use Baking Soda to clean surface staining, hydrogen peroxide to help the bleaching process. Whitening toothpaste and rinse will help some.
The dentist is who you need to talk to about the serious and total whitening.
Good Luck.
Reply:NOTHING WILL YOUR WORK FOR THE DENTURE/PLATE. BUT YOU CAN USE CREST WHITE STRIPS FOR YOUR NATURAL TEETH, AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO VENEERS OR CROWNS. AS FAR AS THE DENTURE IS CONCERNED,
HAVE A NEW ONE MADE THAT HAS WHITER TEETH.
Reply:I read recently where someone said just swish hydrogen peroxide around in your mouth for ten minutes and it will whiten your teeth. Works great for me!
Reply:Dr Albert is correct (THO I WISH HE WOULDN'T SHOUT SO MUCH! LOL)..... you need to whiten (whether w/ a custom tray or w/ Crest strips...) FIRST, get your natural teeth as white as they can go and then do one of two things:
1 - have a whole new partial made; if it's more than 10 years old you may need a new one anyway. orrrr
2 - have the dentist send the partial to the lab and have them jsut replace the anterior teeth. This usually costs only a coupla hundred bucks rather that 1000-1500 for a new partial.
you could try dropping your denture in a peroxide rinse and scrubbing it w/ a brush, but that probably won't have a very dramatic effec t.....
good luck!
Reply:Or you could try going to a denturist where they industrial strenght cleaners for dentures, partials ect... They can clean them far better than any over the counter means.
Reply:Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and
are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural
tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries
but certain precautions have to be taken.

I am an adult and need my teeth fixed but this is the problem I am the biggest chicken when it comes to the?
dentist how can I overcome and how do I find a dentist that is caring and has compassion about my fear
I am an adult and need my teeth fixed but this is the problem I am the biggest chicken when it comes to the?
Remember, they are doctors and studied teeth for a decade and have seen it all. The good thing is that you're taking care of them and that's a really good thing. Everyone is scared of the dentist. I didn't go for 5 years and it wasn't as worse as I thought it would be. Then I told myself,"what's the worse that can happen?" I thought of the most absurd things. Like being wheeled off to the ER because my teeth was inoperable to them. Totally not the case. Now I go every 6 mths and guess what? I'm still terrified before I go, lol. Buck yourself up. Tell yourself to,"get it over with!" Book the appt asap and look at the calendar. In 2 months, so much stuff will go on with your life and the dental appt was just something that you had to do and now you're done. On the day of the appt, make a plan to do something AFTER the dental appt. That way, the day isn't all about the dentist. I planned to have a movie fest after and it made me look forward to that all day. Once you're there, tell them you're nervous. I did. I told anyone who asked how I was. They were very caring and explained everything. And remember, if you don't like the way you treat you, you have the power to walk out. But the dental field has changed a lot. They're more caring and nice. When you're there, take a deep breath and close your eyes. Bring a mp3 player if it helps. Have a ring or bracelet on to play with. Bring a small ball to squeeze if it helps. =)
Ask coworkers or friends if they can recommend a dentist. Or call 1800dentist for one in your area. Or go to doctoroogle.com to see if a doc had been reviewed in your area by a patient.
I've been there and trust me, waiting for it is much worse than when you're there. Make the appt and take the soonest they have. That way, your mind has less time to worry. Remember to remind yourself to,"Get it over with." =) It's going to be the best thing you ever did for yourself. Good luck!
Reply:More and more dentists are taking care of those with the worst dental fears. My sister is like you. She has a dentist that will even put her to sleep to CLEAN her teeth.
Just call around your area. There are probably several you can choose from. I have to tell you that it will be expensive---my sister had 2 teeth pulled and it was $1,600---most of that was because of the anesthesia.
Reply:ask your close friends what dentist they go to and ask about them it might help knowing that they go to that dentist and know about them then maybe youll feel more comfortable
Reply:here they have something called "sedation dentistry" where they put you under to take care of your teeth if you feel uncomfortable at the dentists.
check your listings in your phone book.
and call all the dentists to see if any of them could allow you to be sedated while working on your teeth.
Reply:Look in your yellow pages for a dentist that caters to cowards. There are lots of dentists that advertise this specialty so just look for that in the phone book. If you can find one like that in your area then ask your closest friends who they see and call ahead and explain your situation and ask if the dentist would prescribe a mild anti-anxiety med for you before your appointment. I used to avoid the dentist too but now have a pair of great dentists. I still don't like going but it is not a bad experience anymore for me.

How loose does my adult tooth have to be before I get concerned?
I am 40 years old and I was hit in the mouth with a baseball. My tooth is slightly loose, and I wondered if loose adult teeth generally heal them selves.
How loose does my adult tooth have to be before I get concerned?
If it barely moves, you'll be fine in a couple of weeks. See your dentist anyway to find-out for sure.
If it moves freely, see your dentist immediately. He *may* be able to save the tooth.
In the absolute worst scenario, the tooth has been fractured, and the "live" part of the tooth may or may not have been damaged. In any case, you will likely end-up with a cap.
In the absolutely best case, you've suffered no more than a glancing blow that will heal in a few weeks. In this case, the bruise to the face, fat lip, and the eating funny for a couple of days are the worst of it.
Reply:Get to a dentist immediately or you will lose the tooth.
Reply:See a dentist. Even if it does heal itself it may very well heal wonky, possibly enough to pressure other teeth. You probably shouldn't have left it.
Reply:go see a Dentist to be sure
I was in a car accident causing 2 loose teeth
I had to wear a retainer for a few months to make sure they bonded to the socket again
Reply:I would go to the dentist to correct it as soon as possible if you loose it its gone for good is it worth taking that chance?

How much would it cost as an adult to have my protruding teeth fixed?
I had braces as a teenager, but I failed to wear my retainer as much as I should have. Now I'm in my 20's and all my teeth as straight except for the front two which, as well as being quite large, protrude somewhat. I get very embarrassed about them and I would love to have them fixed, but I'm not sure I can afford it. Does anyone know how much it might cost?
How much would it cost as an adult to have my protruding teeth fixed?
It depends upon where you live and what needs to be fixed. I practice in Sacramento and I charge $5200 per complete case. It is possible that your Orthodontist may charge, if only your upper front teeth needs to be fixed. Hope that helps
Reply:Alot of money.
Reply:I would guess several hundred, towards a thousand maybe.
Reply:it will cost thousands
Reply:see your dentist as it may be able to be treated on the NHS if this is causing mental distress.

How long will it take for my adult tooth to grow back?
i am 13 almost 14.
i just had 2 of my baby teeth pulled out yesterday cuz the dentist said the new tooth was coming in and my baby teeth were barely loose.
1) how long do u think it will take for my adult teeth to come
back fully?
2) how long do u think it will take for my adult teeth to start to
come out and start showing?
i really hope they start showing before september 7th cuz thats when my school starts!
and i don't wanna start high school like this!
How long will it take for my adult tooth to grow back?
Adult teeth don't "come back", they are entirely new teeth. If you had baby teeth pulled, the adult teeth will grow in when they're good and ready. You can't make them grow any faster. [Sorry]. But if the dentist pulled the baby teeth because the adult ones are growing, I'd say they should start coming in within the next couple weeks.
I had to have my last baby tooth pulled when I was like, 15. My adult tooth grew in before the baby one even got loose, and it just pushed the baby tooth out of the way to make room. It was kinda painful, so it's a good thing you got those baby teeth pulled out now.
Considering it's only the beginning of July, I'm pretty sure your adult teeth will be grown in by the time you start school :-)
Good luck with the braces too. You're a lot better off getting them now when you're younger, don't put it off longer than you have to. But wait until your parents get the insurance. lol.
Reply:1)about one month and a bit
2)a few weeks maybe sooner
if the dentist pulled your teeth chances r he pulled it becuse your adult tooth was very close to comeing in but some times baby teeth do not get wiggley

Our dog lost an adult tooth... can anyone answer this question?
Kina, our dog, lost one of her front teeth. It is an adult tooth. Should something be done? Also, there is a whitish-green puss where the tooth used to be.
Our dog lost an adult tooth... can anyone answer this question?
Because of the pus (sign of infection), you probably want to have her checked out by the vet, and get her on some antibiotics. The infection will eventually spread, may abscess in other teeth, and cause her a lot of pain. She will not be able to eat.
Otherwise, she will be fine -- no more tooth there, but the rest will make up for it!
Reply:Take Kina to the vet.
Reply:sounds like it was infected take to vet
Reply:clean the wound with a solution of salt and water, it will sting for a bit but you might try some baby anbesol first to numb it, then clean it with salt and water on a cotton ball. It is not uncommon for dogs to lose teeth in chewing but usually it%26#039;s only older dogs. If you don%26#039;t do it already get a really good dental bone or chew and brush his teeth with a dog brush kit every week. The tooth will usually heal on its own if you clean it with a warm salt water mixture twice a day. If an absess develops or swelling in that area of the mouth take him to the vet, it may have to be drained and he may need antibiotics.
Reply:You know, I have to say, if you had just lost a tooth and there was any pus involved, you would be on the phone to the dentist right away. Dogs need dental care, too. Sounds like the dog had an abscess for a while if the tooth fell out, and as in humans, a tooth infection can enter the blood stream and cause a life-threatening infection if not taken care of. Your dog is in need of an emergency dental.
Reply:Infection. Take her to the vet.
Reply:Sounds like the tooth is infected so you need to take him to the vets. Oral care is important for dogs and cats the same as it is for humans and should be part of your dogs normal care.
