Kina, our dog, lost one of her front teeth. It is an adult tooth. Should something be done? Also, there is a whitish-green puss where the tooth used to be.
Our dog lost an adult tooth... can anyone answer this question?
Because of the pus (sign of infection), you probably want to have her checked out by the vet, and get her on some antibiotics. The infection will eventually spread, may abscess in other teeth, and cause her a lot of pain. She will not be able to eat.
Otherwise, she will be fine -- no more tooth there, but the rest will make up for it!
Reply:Take Kina to the vet.
Reply:sounds like it was infected take to vet
Reply:clean the wound with a solution of salt and water, it will sting for a bit but you might try some baby anbesol first to numb it, then clean it with salt and water on a cotton ball. It is not uncommon for dogs to lose teeth in chewing but usually it%26#039;s only older dogs. If you don%26#039;t do it already get a really good dental bone or chew and brush his teeth with a dog brush kit every week. The tooth will usually heal on its own if you clean it with a warm salt water mixture twice a day. If an absess develops or swelling in that area of the mouth take him to the vet, it may have to be drained and he may need antibiotics.
Reply:You know, I have to say, if you had just lost a tooth and there was any pus involved, you would be on the phone to the dentist right away. Dogs need dental care, too. Sounds like the dog had an abscess for a while if the tooth fell out, and as in humans, a tooth infection can enter the blood stream and cause a life-threatening infection if not taken care of. Your dog is in need of an emergency dental.
Reply:Infection. Take her to the vet.
Reply:Sounds like the tooth is infected so you need to take him to the vets. Oral care is important for dogs and cats the same as it is for humans and should be part of your dogs normal care.

Hi an adult should have 32 teeth and I am 27 years old and i have only 29 teeth can u answer me?
32 is assuming your 4 wisdom teeth came in. Some people just don%26#039;t get wisdom teeth. Weird stuff happens...
Hi an adult should have 32 teeth and I am 27 years old and i have only 29 teeth can u answer me?
Stuff like that happens...........
Reply:32 + 27 + 29 = 88 divided by 3 = 29.34
You are missing a third of a tooth, or as we call them %26quot;third molars.%26quot;
Reply:I only have 29 teeth and I%26#039;m in my 20%26#039;s as well. Maybe we%26#039;re normal!
Reply:Had your wisdom teeth removed? I think you are fine with only 29.
Reply:I only have 25 teeth bc 7 of them just never grew in...my dentists say that it%26#039;s genetics and don%26#039;t worry about it.
Reply:It is likely that you have 3 wisdom teeth that are not erupted. They may be sideways in your jaw. You need to have a panoramic x-ray to know for sure.
Reply:I work in a dental office and I have the answer. If you haven%26#039;t had any teeth removed, then you are either congenitally missing the 3 teeth or they are impacted. Impacted means that they are still hiding under the gum tissue and never finished erupting. Some people just don%26#039;t get some of the teeth for unknown reasons. So, if it is your wisdom teeth that are not there, be thankful because it probably would have been recommended that they be removed anyway. However, if you haven%26#039;t seen a dentist about it, they can do a simple x-ray to see if the teeth are in there and unerupted.
Reply:I have 28 teeth cause I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. Maybe yours didn%26#039;t all come in or you had a teeth removed because of space issues etc. I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it too much! lol...
Reply:An adult with 32 teeth will have all of the regular teeth (28) plus 4 wisdom teeth. You may not have developed all of your wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth don%26#039;t always develop, because there may be a lack of room. I only had two wisdom teeth on the bottom, which became impacted beneath the gums, so I had surgery to remove them. You really don%26#039;t need wisdom teeth now. They were more useful for earlier humans.

Does getting an adult tooth hurt more than getting a baby tooth pulled?
I%26#039;m just wondering because when I was younger I got two of my babay teehth (mollers) pulled out because I had really bad cavities in them. I just had some laughing gas though, and no pain killers and I was fine. It didn%26#039;t even hurt at all and I was only 6. So what%26#039;s all this huss and fuss about getting wisdom teeth pulled? Do they hurt more just because they%26#039;re adult teeth? Do the roots go way deeper and that%26#039;s why you need pain killers?
Does getting an adult tooth hurt more than getting a baby tooth pulled?
no not really. its just like getting a baby tooth pulled. so dont fret about it! its gonna be okay!
Reply:Yes, it would hurt more because the roots are deeper, but they usually will numb you up a lot, even may put you to sleep so you shouldn%26#039;t feel any pain.
Reply:i had all 4 removed at once and it hurt!!! they were also impacted so they had to be surgically cut out, and maybe thats why i was in so much pain!!
i couldnt eat real food for a while, my mouth was swollen and discolored.
it was probably one of the most painful things ive ever experienced and i even have given birth!!!
Reply:I found that getting teeth pulled as an adult was much more painful! I had three teeth pulled when I had braces put on, and the teeth shattered while they were being pulled out. This meant that the dentist had to dig out all the pieces! It was very uncomfortable. Also, the teeth are more permanent with deeper roots, so it%26#039;s not as easy as removing a baby tooth!! Good luck and just use nitrous, if it%26#039;s offered!!

Difference between baby tooth extraction and adult tooth extractions?
I%26#039;m getting 4 teeth pulled for braces, and one of them happens to be a baby tooth that has no adult tooth growing under it. I just wanted to know if there was a difference with the baby tooth being pulled, like less time for it to heal or anything. Thanks in advance!
Difference between baby tooth extraction and adult tooth extractions?
The baby tooth could have a full root or because of root resorption, or unerupted crowded adult teeth, that could have an impact on the root, causing it to have a shorter root. Anyway you flip the coin, it could be very similar to an adult tooth extraction. Best of luck
Reply:If there is no adult tooth under the baby tooth, then the baby tooth will have a full-size root, and will be similar to having an adult tooth pulled.
Reply:my baby tooth was way easier than the other adult tooth to come out so i think its a wait and see here....they are usually all okay so don%26#039;t panic
if i can go to the dentist anyone can:)

My puppy is 8 mos. old and still has her upper k9 puppy teeth next to her adult ones.?
shouldn%26#039;t she have already lost her puppy teeth, ALL of them by now?
My puppy is 8 mos. old and still has her upper k9 puppy teeth next to her adult ones.?
These are called deciduous teeth and they will need to be removed by your vet if they don%26#039;t fall out soon on their own.
They can cause problems if not removed.
This is not a complicated procedure. Just call your vet and tell them the situation and they can set you up an appointment.

Reply:Yes, dogs have all of their adult teeth by 6 months. What you are seeing are retained puppy teeth and they should be removed by a vet.
Reply:yes, it sounds like she retained her puppy teeth. she will need to get them pulled by the vet. she will need to be under anistisia for the procedure. just give your vet a call and let them know what;s happening
Reply:Dogs do not have all their adult teeth by the time they are 6 mos of age. Depending on the breed, they can still be losing and gaining teeth til they are 8 or 9 mos of age. As long as the teeth aren%26#039;t blocking or stopping adult teeth from coming in. And as long as they aren%26#039;t red and inflamed or infected looking, she%26#039;ll be fine. If it looks like they are in the way and stopping the adult teeth from coming in, you%26#039;ll want the vet to take a look, he might have to pull the baby teeth so the adult teeth can come in properly.
I have a 6 mos + puppy, who lost a pre molar the other day. She still has several puppy teeth to go.
Reply:If she has her puppy teeth AND her adult ones as well you need to take her to the vet and have the puppy teeth surgically removed.

How to tell the difference between Baby Tooth and Adult Tooth?
Hi,
The root of one of my teeth disappeared when I was a teenager and the tooth just staid there. This is an adult tooth, however the insurance is considering it as an baby tooth because it has no root. Is there no other way (size, color) that could help me confirm to the insurance that this is an adult tooth, not a baby one?
This tooth needs to be replaced by an implant, and insurance would cover it if this is an adult tooth only.
Thanks!

How to tell the difference between Baby Tooth and Adult Tooth?
Your dentist should def. be able to tell the difference between a primary tooth and an adult tooth. Depending on where it is located and what size it is in comparison to the other teeth. Some people do not get a permanent tooth in one or more places, thus the baby tooth stays present in the mouth as there is not another tooth under it pushing it out. The roots on baby teeth resorb so they can get ready to become loose and come out to make way for the adult teeth. Even though there is not a root present the tooth can still remain in the mouth for several years, sometimes a lifetime if you are careful. I have seen grown men with a primary tooth still in their mouth. Maxillary perm molars (upper, back teeth) have three roots, and mandibular perm molars (lower back teeth) have two roots. Depending on where this tooth is should tell your dentist if it is a primary or permanent tooth. Some people do have their permanent tooth roots resorb for some reason, in this case if the tooth becomes loose then they would have to have an implant. I know of a case where this happened to a lady in the dental field, she has excellent home care, it just so happened that a back molar root resporbed leaving the tooth loose, so she had an implant placed. I am sure there is a way for your dentist to find out one way or another what is going on in your mouth. Insurance companies can be very picky so don%26#039;t give up, keep trying.
Reply:a baby tooth is smaller than an adult one
Reply:Won%26#039;t your insurance company take the word of a dentist? I%26#039;m sure there%26#039;s some structural way they can prove it with an x-ray or something.
Reply:a baby tooth does not have a root a Adult tooth has four big roots at the end!

My adult tooth has become loose?
im very good with dental care usually but recently i have been careless - too much chocolate!!
ive started looking after my teeth properly again but just as i have a tooth has become loose! it is an adult tooth should i just leave it?

See a dentist immediately: it sounds like you have gum problems.
Reply:Hi the best thing is to go to a dentist and have it checked out. It may be nothing or it could be major either way its the best way to get it off your mind and the longer left the worse it could become. All the best.
Reply:It is coming loose from the GUM or the BONE and therefore is a gum problem. Even the most scrupulous dental hygeine still requires regular cleaning, daily brushing and flossing. Likely placque has formed around the tooth under the gum. The calcification causes the tooth to eventually pull away from the bone which makes the tooth loose (actually the bone decalcifies and isnt able to hold the tooth). No, dont just leave it as it will not resolve on its own. If generally you just have a placque problem that is more than usual, I would recommend a Sonicare toothbrush. The price is worth the dental health.
Reply:You have to see a dentist. If you knocked it loose they may be able to fix it. However if it loosened overtime then you may have BONE LOSS also known as periondontitis.

Why are we born with two sets of teeth, baby and adult?
Almost all mammals have two sets of teeth (this is called diphyodonty). One of the hypothesis to explain the existance of these two dental generations is related to the way our teeth work.
The teeth of adult mammals occlude (=come together) in very precise patterns that are related to the type of food and the way this food is chewed, and are very important for feeding efficiency. If the definitive teeth were to erupt in a young individual that is still growing, the growth of the skull and jaw bone could make the upper and lower teeth lose their occlusion, with negative consequences.
So the hypothesis proposes that the first generation or milk teeth appear during the first years (in humans, much earlier in other mammals), when the young one is feeding on breast milk, and then it is not so important that they become separated when the child keeps growing.
Only then they%26#039;re replaced by the definitive ones. And remember, only incisors, canines and premolars have two generations. The molars (the most important for mastication) only erupt once, and they do so later, when the person is much more grown. In fact, the last molars or %26quot;wisdom teeth%26quot; sometimes do not erupt at all in humans.

Why are we born with two sets of teeth, baby and adult?
Because our face and jaw grow as we go through childhood.
Adult sized teeth wouldn%26#039;t fit in a baby%26#039;s mouth, and baby teeth would look silly in an adult%26#039;s mouth.
Reply:HOW MANY SETS DO U WANT 2 HAVE
Reply:The first set of teeth are the deciduous teeth, 20 small teeth also known as baby teeth or milk teeth. Deciduous teeth start developing about two months after conception and typically begin to erupt above the gumline when a baby is six or seven months old. Occasionally a baby may be born with one or more deciduous teeth at birth, known as natal teeth. By the time a child is six years old, a second set of 32 larger teeth, called permanent teeth, start to erupt, or push out of the gums, eventually replacing the deciduous teeth.
Reply:if we we grew our adult teeth only, they would be too big for our skull. if we only had baby teeth they would not serve our greater food consumption when we grow.
Reply:Sean is right. I was going to say that but he said it fine. Some of us wish that we had a spare pair after the adult teeth (not dentures). LOL The adult teeth are growing beneath the gum and when ready push out the baby teeth.
E-hah!! Money under the pillow time. $$$$$$$$$

Will an adult tooth grow in if my son's missing his tooth and root?
When my son was two, he had an accident and knocked out his front tooth, root and all. Now he%26#039;s five and his baby teeth are starting to come out and adult teeth coming in. Will the tooth that he lost come back even if he lost the root too?

Yes. To the best of my knowledge at least.

Reply:Yes, his permanent tooth will come in even though he lost the deciduous tooth at an early age. It will probably take it longer than it%26#039;s neighbors as the tooth will have to erupt through bone rather than a space left by an exfoliating tooth.

Wiggly adult tooth?
Okay, my front adult teeth are a little wiggly... Like if I put them on top of the bottom ones, and put my finger over them, and push down I can feel them move a bit... I%26#039;m 13, and I%26#039;m pretty sure that it%26#039;s not from an injury... I told my mom and she said she%26#039;ll call the Orthodontist. (I have no idea why she%26#039;s going to call him, I don%26#039;t have spacers or braces...) Anyways, I have an overbite and my front teeth don%26#039;t touch the lower front ones... My gums are a little bit red, but barely... Like a bit darker than a light pink. I first noticed the wiggliness around a few months after the teeth first grew in when I was like 6. Can somebody tell me if this is normal, or not, and what I should do.
By the way, I do brush and floss daily. I didn%26#039;t do so well on that for awhile, but I went to the dentist in August, and she didn%26#039;t take x-rays, and didn%26#039;t say my teeth were unheathly... I do brush twice a day and try (nearly every day.) to floss every day.
Wiggly adult tooth?
Most teeth have a small degree of movement - we classify them as I, II, or III. If you%26#039;re healthy, then a I is normal.
I%26#039;m sure your dentist would%26#039;ve noticed if there was a problem. There is not usually a need to take X-rays of front teeth in someone of your age, only of the back teeth.
You sound as if you%26#039;re maintaining your teeth well. Don%26#039;t worry, I think you%26#039;re overly concerned and that there is nothing wrong, especially not periodontal disease.

Reply:That%26#039;s weird, particularly if you%26#039;ve noticed this since you were 6 and no one else did. It sounds more like you may have a periodontal condition of your gums, which an orthodontist can%26#039;t do anything about. Also, if you went to the dentist, and they didn%26#039;t take x-rays, you need to seek another dentist. Things can %26quot;spring up%26quot; and the only way to tell if there%26#039;s anything going on beneath the gums is by an x-ray, which is a standard part of any exam. You%26#039;re way too young to be worried about your teeth being %26quot;wiggly%26quot; (maybe you%26#039;re even worried about losing them?) which worries me. If your Mom doesn%26#039;t do it, seek the closest dental college you can find on the internet (which you obviously have access to) and explain your concerns and see if your Mom can arrange a visit for you--orthodontics are WAY more expensive than say maybe a new oral hygiene method. Be persistant. You%26#039;re only given one set of permanent teeth and if you have to be the one in charge, do it.
Reply:Loose and wiggly teeth in adults is the first sign of gum disease.
However, since you are a child, your mom is right, it is best to consult the orthodontist since your bite may be faulty and you may need braces fairly soon.
Normally, your dentist would have told your mom already that you will need braces when you grew older so this is the reason that your mom already knows that this is the next step.
Getting braces and being seen by an orthodontist is fairly expensive and takes a few years to complete.
There is another treatment that is even more expensive than braces and it is called inversealign.
Invisalign treatment begins with your Invisalign dentist taking impressions of your mouth, allowing your dentist to fully examine your bite and decide on a course of action. Invisalign will then create a computer based model of your mouth, then create a series of removable aligners. You will wear each aligner tray for about 2 weeks, replacing it with a new one that will further correct your teeth. On average it will take about 9 months to completely fix your teeth, much less than with braces. The average Invisalign cost is between 4500 and 7500 dollars, but each case is different and some cases of Invisalign braces require more work than others.

Adult Tooth Question.?
Im 15 and all my teeth are adult teeth, and when i was playing basketball my tooth got chiped from the metal net, so about 1/5 of my tooth is missing, and its quite noticable. Will it grow back? Or at least smooth out? It looks choppy.
Adult Tooth Question.?
Nope it will not grow anymore. You best bet is to go to the dentist and get it capped.
Just wondering ... how did you get your tooth chipped by the metal net? Its really high isnt it?
Reply:No, it won%26#039;t grow back. You need to see a dentist because you%26#039;ve lost part of the outside enamel which may cause your tooth to decay down the road. Also, a dentist can fix it so the chip disappears!
Reply:It will never grow back. Smoothing this rough part or adding tooth colored material to it may be in order.
Reply:Your best bet is to get it capped.
Reply:You need to fix it fast before it changes color, sorry adult tooth don%26#039;t grow back and best of luck!

Adult tooth, will it ever come down?
I recently had braces put on. In the beginning processes, i had a baby tooth removed where my adult canine was suppose to be ... it is still in my gums. My orthodontist did not believe that my adult tooth is compacted and believes that it will come down once my teeth start moving around.
Does anybody know how long that will take? Or If that will even happen?
I know if it doesn%26#039;t what an oral surgeon does, but i%26#039;m really hoping i dont have to have oral surgery again!
Adult tooth, will it ever come down?
it depends on the canine postion in the bone ( panoramic x-ray almost shows that)
If it was in a vertical position and in the good place for eruption it will go down so just wish that
Reply:i dont know, i should come down on its own...i didnt lose my last baby tooth until i was 21 and still it took a while for the adult one to come down. it was probabaly a month before it was down most of the way.
Reply:If it comes it comes, if it not.... say hello to my little friend!!!! the knife!
Reply:it is doubtful that it will errupt - your best bet is to see an oral surgeon to have them expose the tooth and attach something to help the orthodontist move it into position. Yes, it is possible and it does work.

Adult tooth growing behind a baby tooth HELP?!?
I am 21 and I just recently had my baby tooth removed because my adult tooth was growing behind it so I has to now be pulled forward to fill in the gap from my baby tooth. What is the quickest way to correct my teeth and remove this ugly gap??? I HATE the idea of braces and was looking into invisailgn. Is this even an option for my situation?
Adult tooth growing behind a baby tooth HELP?!?
That question will best be answered by your dentist and the Invisalign company. Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign, but in your case it may work depending on how much the tooth needs to be moved. The regular orthodontics is sometimes the better choice with harder cases. Talk with your dentist, he will be able to tell you more and take some impressions along with some photo%26#039;s and send them off to Invisalign for their evaluation. They will notify your dentist within about a week letting him know what needs to be done and approximately how long your treatment will last. It a great option to the traditional braces and gives patients excellent results. Good luck and hope I%26#039;ve been of some help.
Reply:In no time, that gap will probably be filled in without doing anything.

What is the cause of loose teeth in an adult?
loose teeth in adults are related to factors liike poor oral hygine or any other disease leading to early bone loss...u can prevent it by maintaing good oral hygine......

the most common reason is lack of care but this can also happen if you are deficient in calcium

You need to see a dentist to find out why your tooth is loose and to get a recommendation for how to take care of it.
My crystal ball and gut feeling are telling me to tell you to be ready for bad news, so be ready for bad news. You have probably let this problem go too long to save your tooth and you probably have several other teeth that are not far behind.
Reply:most cases it is lack or oral hygiene. Lack of flossing will allow plaque to build up around the gumline and in the gumline causing bacteria to be trapped. This iritates the gums and they recede %26quot;extending%26quot; the length of the tooth because the root is becoming exposed (also causing sensitivity since the root doesn%26#039;t have as much enamel as the crown). Plus with the bacteria trapped there it also destroys the bone with which the root is ancored (bone loss) allowing for less tooth stability, hence wobbly teeth. In other cases it%26#039;s a genetic medical problem. Just make sure you floss 2x a day and brush as well, rinse too. What you have lost is not coming back. Gum recession and boneloss is not reversible. Sorry.

What age on average do uk residents teeth fall out? (adult ones not milk teeth)?
Just wondering when ill ave to get sum falsies!! lol
What age on average do uk residents teeth fall out? (adult ones not milk teeth)?
I think it might have to do with the flouride in the water.
Lack of flouride that is...
Reply:not all people need falsies hardly any in fact!
with brishing twice a day and dentist visits most people in the uk never need them.
Reply:If you look after them well and clean them properly and go to the dentist and hygienist regularly you may well never need false teeth at all.

Reply:If you look after them hopefully never! It really depends on how you care for you teeth. My friend lost one of her adult tooth when she was evelven. Coz she used live on sweets (She also had seven fillings...) But my 96 great antie still has all of hers... so it depends.

There is no set age for losing baby teeth or adult teeth anywhere in the world.
My daughter had to have four baby teeth removed at the age of 21... they didn%26#039;t want to go!
I%26#039;ve got my teeth... as has my brother... I%26#039;m 62... he%26#039;s rising 60.
I know many people who had all theirs removed when in their teens... it was once as fashionable to rip out all the teeth, as it was to rip out tonsils... and it really depends on how well you care for them... your diet... your genetic factors... and your health issues.
Not to mention bad practise in dentistry... when once... they got loadsa money for each extraction and conned unsuspecting patients into letting them yank the lot!
If you can afford the high fess involved... you could keep teeth for life!

Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually appear between the ages of 18 and 20 (although they may appear when older, younger, or may not appear at all). They are called %26quot;wisdom teeth%26quot; because they appear so late—much later than the other teeth, at an age where people are supposedly wiser than as a child, when the other teeth erupt. Often they need to be removed when they impact against other teeth—colloquially known as %26quot;coming in sideways.%26quot;
Wisdom teeth are sometimes described as an example of a %26quot;vestigial%26quot; trait. Some argue that recent changes to softer diets which cause less wear on the teeth may be causing the third molars to be less useful, and, in fact, problematic in many humans. Alternately, it is possible that wisdom teeth were useful when it was common for humans to lose several teeth to decay by the age when they appear.
Although most people have four wisdom teeth, it is possible to have more or fewer. Absence of one or more wisdom teeth is an example of hypodontia. Any extra teeth are referred to as Supernumerary teeth.
Reply:Usually it is 4, 1 on each side of top back and 1 on each side of the bottom back. Usually wisdom teeth get removed since they come in at a later age (around 17-19). They usually abstruct the alignment of previous teeth and can cause severe jaw pain. I still have my wisdom teeth and most have grown in fine except for the bottom right which is growing in sideways and needs to be removed.
Reply:Adults can have up to 4 wisdom teeth. There may be cases in which they grow more wisdom teeth (since there always seems to be exceptions in the medical field), but I bet they%26#039;re rare if they exist at all. But you can have less than four wisdom teeth and you wouldn%26#039;t necessarily be out of the norm. For example, I only had 3 wisdom teeth. That was all that was growing in, therefore when I needed to have them pulled, I only had 3 pulled because that was all I had. But four is the max.
Reply:when the question is %26quot;can%26quot;, then, it depends on the capacity of the mouth! but, normally, an average adult %26quot;has%26quot; 4 wisdom teeth... dont ask me what will happen when some fall off, due to age!

Do only humans lose baby teeth and grow adult ones? Dogs, Monkeys, etc...do they lose baby teeth?
All mammals have two sets of teeth. The milk teeth and their adult teeth, it%26#039;s one of the defining characteristics of our genera. Outside of hair, milk and our ear bones.
It%26#039;s the price of having specialized teeth, all other vertibrates with teeth have an unlimited capacity to regrow their teeth. Their teeth are just variations on a cone shape though. No specialized crinders and cutters or chisels.

YES - only sharks don%26#039;t

I gather the same goes for cats and other animals.

How many teeth does an adult dog have ?
Adults have 42 dog teeth, although there is some slight variation in breeds.
How many teeth does an adult dog have ?
too many!

All of which should be brushed regularly, mind you. :)

Once I got bitten by a dog in calexico over by alabama when I lived by some hilly billies, and there was this great big dog, a german sparkler I think it was, and I was walking through some swamp land minding my own business, and out of no where this dog jumped on me, no no really, and I had to wrestle it till I put it in a choke hold.
That misty dog bit me too, but I bit it too, no joke, I was so so mad and upset and I didn%26#039;t cry because I%26#039;m no cry baby, I%26#039;m a cowboy kind of a dude. sure???
Does baby teeth weak then adult?
...yes...?
Reply:if your question is %26quot;are baby teeth weaker then the adult teeth%26quot; your answer is yes. Simple as that
Reply:Most humans lose their baby teeth during early childhood (around 6 or 7 years old). Once these teeth are shed, then the adult teeth grow in. When adults lose their teeth, its usually due to lack of proper hygeinge, or oral accidents. Many senior citizens lose their teeth naturally when a history of poor care has been taken of the mouth. I don%26#039;t understand the extent of your question, but if you%26#039;ve lost a tooth or are losing teeth as an adult, I suggest you see a dentist. Good luck!

How many teeth dose a adult Bull Shark have.?
Sharks are constantly growing teeth so they will have a different number of teeth at any given time depending on the last time they ate..
When they bite into their prey some of their teeth will rip out of the sharks mouth and remain punctured in its targeted victim... Some sharks will shed as many as 50,000 teeth in their lifetime... In captive sharks biologist have found front row teeth in sharks last about 8 days before falling out...
This is why you will find shark teeth washed up on a beech...

Reply:They have tons of teeth, and they keep growing. Most sharks do this... they have rows that fall into place when they lose their old teeth.
Reply:Loads. It would be impossible to tell how many teeth Bull Sharks have because the number of teeth depends on the size and age of the shark. Most sharks have rows of teeth, the first two are used for ripping prey into bite sized bits (sharks rarely chew) and the other rows rotate, when one tooth in the first two rows falls out it is nearly immediately replaced with one from the back rows.

Do schnauzers loose their puppy teeth and get an adult set?
My four month old dog is missing her two front teeth. Is this normal? Is she just losing her puppy teeth?
Do schnauzers loose their puppy teeth and get an adult set?
lol. don%26#039;t worry it%26#039;s normal. in fact she may lose some without you even noticing because sometimes when they play they lose their teeth and the swallow them accidentally. But yes it%26#039;s normal, just because schnauzers are small breeds does not mean they don%26#039;t follow the same maturing patterns that other dogs do.
best of luck, enjoy your new sweetie!!!

Wisdom Teeth, Does it make adult men cry?
I%26#039;m going in next week to get my wisdom teeth pulled out and from what i heard, it hurts like ****. anyways I%26#039;m very nervous and scared I HATE DENTIST! so should i do some drugs before my appointment? hah. anyone got any tips for me or advice?
Wisdom Teeth, Does it make adult men cry?
Tell them to put you out. Then you wont feel a thing or go through all the motions the dentist will have your head going trying to pull them out. You will be getting some medication afterward for the pain so just take that. It is not as bad as getting a root canal. Sometimes these wisdom teeth come right out, sometimes they break and they have to drill and break them, it all depends on what direction they are pointing and how well those bastards are rooted. Good luck.
Reply:I say sure take some drugs and i know sometimes you can even go see your dentist before and they can write you a prescription for the pain so you can take it right before they start the work. good luck!
Reply:make them give you a %26#039;halcion%26#039; pill , its just like a valum but better, that%26#039;s what I had. If your knocked out you wont feel a thing ! I literally blinked my eye and was out of a 20 min procedure ! ! it%26#039;s the pain afterwards that hurts , please make sure you keep the wound CLEAN !!!! because life will be a living hell if food gets stuck in there !
Reply:I had all four of mine pulled the same afternoon. I took a fair bit of codeine for about 36 hours following and slept a lot, but I certainly didn%26#039;t cry and was back on my feet after that.
Reply:No. The dentist will give you novocaine and you will not feel pain...just pressure. It does not take long, and will soon be over. Be brave. You can do it! Make sure you follow the dentist%26#039;s after care instructions.
Reply:Chances are that they are going to give you some drugs so DON%26#039;T take your own. As for pain...you probably won%26#039;t know anything till the next day as far as pain. They will also probably give you a scrip for pain killers. Just take them regularly and make sure and rinse your mouth out with antiseptic or whatever your dentist recommends until you heal up. Your cheeks may puff up, just use ice packs about 20 minutes at a time. Good luck...it%26#039;ll be over before you know it.
Reply:Yes. Don%26#039;t drink a lot the night before. Alcohol thins the blood and can make you bleed more. Just relax! If you give your dentist a call in the morning, he can probably prescribe a valium for you to take just before your visit to calm your nerves. Don%26#039;t take anything on your own, since the dentist will be giving you other drugs that may react in a nasty way with them! Nothing to really be scared of nowadays, anyway! The technology is so advanced the excruciating pain is virtually a thing of the past! Just follow his rules to care for the surgical site afterwards to prevent a dry socket.....now that%26#039;s painful! Good luck!
Reply:I%26#039;ve never heard of anyone having their wisdom teeth removed without being put under (anesthesia). I had mine out. I was put to sleep... and my mouth numbed... so.... it didnt hurt me one bit. Later my mouth hurt, and I had prescription pain medicine given to me by the dentist. And it made my teeth feel just fine. Nothing about the whole experience made me cry.
Reply:i dont think an extraction of the tooth is gonna hurt that much, as long as it isnt infected. it will most likely be sore for a few days afterwards. I think you%26#039;ll be ok without the drugs....just go in and stay relaxed and calm, it%26#039;ll be over before you know it...good luck
Reply:My two sons were each around 18 and had no problem with pain or swelling. Don%26#039;t listen to horror stories and old wives tales. It%26#039;s like when a woman is pregnant. Other women fill them up with bad news and tales of the agonies they went through during labor and delivery.
You%26#039;ll be just fine!
Reply:Hey, the procedure for wisdom teeth removal is painful. The worst part; however, is the days after the procedure. You may cry, or you may sleep. It all depends on the tolerance you have for pain. I would say that you probably wont cry as in boo hoo, but you may have tears from the major pains.
You definitely should NOT do drugs before your appointment. They thin your blood, and you will bleed excessively. They can also react with the solution injected into your gums as a numbing agent.
Hope this helps!
Reply:yeah I%26#039;ve got alot, feel free to contact me, i had mine done a few months ago, i was so scared, that they have to do in the operating room, and i was knocked out, it was HORRIBLE, pain full, if you didn%26#039;t take your drugs, don%26#039;t try and be a hero, it hurts, everyone knows it does, don%26#039;t try and do it without drugs, o and when they give you a thing that looks like a sock with ice in it, USE IT, it feels so good you have no idea, just don%26#039;t take it off, because the more you keep it on the next few days have less swelling, but honestly just contact me if you need anything, i also work in the pharmacy, so i can help you with the meds and what not, don%26#039;t hesitate
Reply:You%26#039;ve nothing to worry about. Most likely you will receive a topical anesthetic followed by an injected one (the topical so you don%26#039;t even feel the needle.) After that you won%26#039;t feel a thing and its actually somewhat dangerous because if you%26#039;re not careful and try to eat you can seriously damage your mouth by chewing it up (but you won%26#039;t be eating afterward)
Then, for the discomfort in the days following the procedure, you will be prescribed pain killers.
Good luck!
Reply:dood it dont hurt that bad. they give u drugs at the dentist. think of him as ur dealer lol no seriously theyl drug u up there. it wont hurt wen they do it bcuz ul b on some serious **** but afterwards itl just b sore and ul look like a chipmunk. it acutally hurts less than ppl say.
Reply:Mine didn%26#039;t hurt a bit. I%26#039;m not sure who is doing yours, if its your regular dentist, you may want to talk to him/her about getting some sedatives. I went to a specialist and was knocked out for the whole procedure, so I remember none of it. I did only have top ones, which I%26#039;ve heard are the easier ones to have removed, but I also think that it depends on the individual, the original setting of the teeth (ie, both of mine were sideways in my jaw) and how much surgical removal they actually have to do. Have fun and enjoy your recovery :) I liked the jello... yeah, lots of jello :)
Reply:no drugs... that may interfere with sedation
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry about it. I%26#039;m getting mine out in January and I%26#039;m not afraid. I%26#039;ve already had 7 teeth pulled over the years and they were all painless procedures. Any pain I had was afterward but they always gave me a prescription for Vicodin after so I just took the pills right away and it was fine. It%26#039;s more about feeling uncomfortable than actually suffering from pain. I have horrible anxiety that makes me afraid of the people more than the pain itself. Don%26#039;t drink or do drugs before the procedure since it may backfire on you and cause more bleeding. You are going to be fine. Everyone goes through this. There%26#039;s always someone out there who is more scared than you are and they make it through it.
Reply:I had mine out two months ago and I survived! Don%26#039;t take drugs as they will give you something there and you don%26#039;t want some toxic combo. I got a mild sedative to take an hour before the appointment and sedation when I got there. I wasn%26#039;t unconscious but I don%26#039;t remember a thing. They give you the same stuff that guys use for date rape (scary) It means that you will respond to directions like open your mouth wider but have no recollection of the experience. Afterward is weird when you can%26#039;t feel your face and then the pain kicks in when the local wears off. Take the painkillers they give you as soon as you are allowed to lessen the chance of feeling much pain. Eating is difficult but gets easier after a week. You%26#039;ll be dead sick of mashed potatoes and Jelly by then! After two weeks I had my first pizza and am totally healed with no probs now. I was freaking out prior to the op but it really wasn%26#039;t that bad. Recovery is pretty quick but make sure you follow all of their directions for aftercare. It feels like half your mouth is missing at first but you quickly get used to it. Stay away from things you have to suck on to avoid dry sockets (when the blood clot comes out and the nerves are exposed) apparently it is very painful. Good luck, you%26#039;ll be sweet.
Reply:The worst thing or time that is most painfull and confusing is when you wake up. its Like someone just hit you for no reason, the confusion of why the hell you can go from sleeping so soundly to AAaaaaaaa what the F*%#@!!!
But dont make me freak you out bud it all is ok when they give you tons of Pain Kiiilllllas, and eating lota Jello.
All the best
Reply:My step fathers a dentist, if you are in S GA ill give you his number, hes the only dentist I trust. Ok back to your question, DONT DO DRUGS BEFORE YOU GO IN OR AFTER if you do drugs ie mary jane then you run the risk of infection on the tooth as well as problems when the dentist is performing surgery. The same can be attributed if you do drugs after. My recomendation is to take plenty of asperin as recomended. I think the dentist have the ability to knock you out if you are in surgery. It will hurt after but trust me all the pudding and jello you can eat ! thats an awesome tradeoff.

Do dogs have baby teeth like humans and then when they fall out they grow an adult pair of teeth?
Yes, puppies have 28 deciduous (temporary) teeth and 42 permanent teeth. Puppies have no teeth at birth, and grow deciduous teeth beginning their second week of life. At three months of age, the deciduous teeth begin to be replaced by the permanent teeth.
The replacement process begins with the incisors, and moves backwards through the canines, premolars and finally the molars. The turnover process is usually complete by the time the dog is eight months old, with none of the original 28 deciduous teeth remaining. Most deciduous teeth are swallowed with food and never seen by the pet owner. Occasionally, a deciduous tooth is merely pushed to the side and retained next to the permanent tooth. Retained deciduous teeth can be removed by a veterinarian.
The incisors turn over from deciduous to permanent from two to four months of age. The canines usually convert around six months of age. The premolars and molars follow in that order, with the last permanent molar erupting around eight months of age.
The exact schedule does vary from breed to breed.

How lorge are an adult bevers front teeth?
There%26#039;s no limit to how long they can grow - beavers keep the length of their teeth limited by the trees and roots they gnaw on. They basically wear down their own teeth to prevent them from overgrowing.

Should adult dog's baby teeth be pulled?
my little maltese is about 15 months old and still has several baby teeth that he never lost, creating kind of a double row of teeth on the bottom and a couple of extra teeth on top. the vet recommends pulling them for dental hygiene reasons? what are your thoughts on this subject? i%26#039;m not trusting vets much right now.
Should adult dog%26#039;s baby teeth be pulled?
toy breeds have alot of dental and gum problems if you don%26#039;t keep up with it. i personally would have them pulled as i had done with a chihuahua i had once with a similar situation. I bet your dog would feel better afterwards too.
Reply:Usually vets remove them at the time a dog gets spayed or neutered (approx. 6 months of age). They remove them because they can cause a lot more tartar to build up on the teeth causing much increased decay.
Reply:same as in humans, sometimes this can cause a problem because their mouths will become %26quot;crowded%26quot; and sometimes plaque can form between sets, making them more prone to gum illnesses.
Reply:Yes, definitely have them pulled out. Having two rows of teeth creates pockets for tartar and calculus to form. If you do not clean it on a regular basis it will develop into periodontal disease. Also, it can lead to further destruction of the dogs internal organs if not taken care of.
Their mouths, just like ours are a reflection of their health. Healthy teeth - healthy dog. :)
Best of Luck!
Reply:This isn%26#039;t something you have to rush and do.
You can wait and see if they%26#039;ll fall out on their own (it is still possible) or have them pulled during the dog%26#039;s first dental. (depending on breed, should be between 3-5 years)
If the baby teeth cause problems for the adult teeth, remove them. If not, wait.
P.S. This is a fault in show dogs. If you plan on showing in a conformation ring RUN and have them removed!
Reply:The retained baby teeth have caused the adult teeth to erupt into an abnormal position. The baby teeth will also trap food particles and allow plaque accumulation between it and the adult tooth. This will lead to gum inflammation (gingivitis) and possible loss of bony attachment by the adult tooth, bacterial infection, and tooth abscessation. It%26#039;s a really good idea to get them removed. It%26#039;s a simple procedure which can be performed under the same anesthesia when she gets spayed.
Reply:no you shouldn%26#039;t pull them out because their teeth roots are more sensitive than humans. Give the dog bones too chew on and it will fall out sooner or later.

I have a 7 yr old son who has NOT lost any baby teeth yet, but in his front bottom middle teeth, his adult?
tooth is growing in behind his baby tooth. Is this something of concern? Does this happen alot?
I have a 7 yr old son who has NOT lost any baby teeth yet, but in his front bottom middle teeth, his adult?
This is not uncommon, even at age 7. The baby tooth will eventually come out on it%26#039;s own. You could give it a little help by gently wiggling the baby tooth a couple times per day. Once the baby tooth is out of the way, within about 6 months, the adult tooth that was behind the baby tooth should start repositioning itself to its correct position. If you don%26#039;t see any migration forward by the adult tooth by this time, you should check with a dentist. Some professionals are anxious to pull teeth, but rest assured, usually there is no need. I took my daughter to the dentist to have one tooth pulled because it was a stubborn one and it was bothering her by being loose.
Reply:No this is fine. Just sounds like he%26#039;s got good oral hygene.
ps. I see braces in your son%26#039;s future.

DO NOT BE OVERLY CONCERNED. SOME CHILDREN JUST HAPPEN TO LOSE THEIR TEETH AT A LATER STAGE. THE ORDER IS THE SAME AS WHEN THEY FIRST CAME IN. SO BEFORE LONG HAVE SOME MONEY IN THE HOUSE FOR THE %26quot;TOOTH FAIRY.%26quot;
Reply:relax, hes probably fine. You can check with the dentist, but hes probably just losing his baby teeth later.
Reply:No, this happened to all my baby teeth. My mom took me to the dentist, and he removed whichever baby teeth had adult teeth growing behind them. It happened to all 4 of my front bottom teeth, and 2 of my top front teeth.
Reply:The adult bottom middle incisors do come out on the inside of the baby teeth, its normal, but if too far in, the baby teeth wont fall out. But if the adult teeth have just started to come out, wait a while, the baby ones can still fall of on their own. the tongue will push the adult teeth out into the line of the other teeth%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;this is the normal process.

Straightening teeth as an adult?
hi everyone, I have crooked teeth - a very small jaw which means I have crowding in my lower jaw and only slightly crooked teeth in my upper jaw. Do you know what my options are (braces of different types) and what it might cost? I am living abroad just now but will be back home in London soon, they mentioned that instead of straightening the bottom teeth they could file down the middle tooth which pops up in the middle of the bottom jaw. Is that an option? any ideas of the costs involved? thanks so much - they are getting more crooked with age ...
Straightening teeth as an adult?
I%26#039;m 40 and currently having my teeth straightened.
My dentist referred me to an orthodontist. The one I went to will not take %26quot;self referrals%26quot; only referrals from a dentist.
We discussed various options. Braces, lingual braces (they go on the back of your teeth), white braces and invisalign. (removable clear plastic aligners)
I opted for invisalign, mainly because I have arthritis so brushing my teeth can be a problem without braces and the invisalign can be removed for eating and cleaning. A bonus to this is that the treatment is 9 months, a metal brace would be 2 years.
The invisalign is costing me £4000, the other brace options were half that.
The fee I pay includes everything, braces, impressions, follow up.
I know I will have to wear a retainer afterwards, apparently your teeth will just move back if you don%26#039;t.
Ok so that%26#039;s me - you may have totally different needs, and there is a lot that can be done. Veneers, crowns etc. etc.
I%26#039;d get an ortho assessment and talk through what you want. Oh and if you don%26#039;t like the ortho get another - you will be seeing him / her every few weeks for a year or two.
Ortho is not a pain free process - with the invisalign the day you change the aligner it hurts to put the new aligner in, and when you take it out your teeth hurt.
There are options for getting treatment abroad, hungary and poland are popular but check the finished look, it changes with county. Eg look in a mirror an smile - at the far coners of your mouth you will see %26quot;black triangles%26quot; - American orthodontics aim to get rid of the black triangles - if you don%26#039;t believe me have a good look at american actors. If you like that look fine. But check the national look and the finish you want.
Good luck with whatever you choose
Reply:I had braces when i was younger. teeth have just gone back the way they where! no point. just live with them. Or rip em out and get false teeth.
Reply:I would think getting braces would be the best way to go.
Braces can cost any where from $4000 or more.
You might need to get some teeth pulled by the dentist to make room for your teeth to move and shift when you get the braces.
After braces you get a retainer, and a permanent wire thing in the back of your teeth to stop them from shifting when you get them off.
It also depends on the orthodontist too.

Reply:i lost a tooth at the side of my mouth a few years ago when i was in my 40%26#039;s and needed a tooth straightened to take the bridge on one side of the gap
i was refered to an NHS orthodontist and had braces on the lower teeth -it was a lower tooth that needed straightening - and a plate in my upper mouth fixed with a barely visable metal
it took several weeks and several brace changes but it was well worth it
the worst thing, apart from getting used to the brace and plate was having the impressions done -yuk
good luck with your dental work
Reply:It%26#039;s not cheap, but I had veniers and bridges put in for my front 8 top teeth. Mine were crooked and they whittled my real teeth almost down to nothing and put caps over them making my teeth straight!
Reply:i wouldn%26#039;t particulary recommend that....(personal experience) why not get a brace??
Reply:I got Invisalign at age 54. I also had crowding in my lower jaw.
It cost $6,000.00
Reply:ibraces are a pain and take to long do get a result i have had vaneers on my 2 front teath and thatcost 800 quid it is quick not very painful and u get perfect results
Reply:Since you are an adult, I suggest you to get anything else but braces. My friend who is turning 30 this Feb has braces. It looks very funny on her. When she smiles, it%26#039;s even scary.
Reply:I got braces as an adult. My underlying metabolic condition caused it to fail and for me to need dentures. It cost a lot took 4 years (the older you are - the longer it SHOULD take) and they looked good for a while. The confidence they gave me was worth the pain.
Reply:I agree with Frogg135 if I were you see your GP and get referred to the dental clinic at your local hospital otherwise it will cost a lot of money
Reply:Ok, you say you have crowded teeth. Usually that would mean extracting a number of teeth to create space and braces to move your remaining teeth into the gaps to straighten them. As an adult you will have to pay privately for this treatment with an orthodontist and you are usually looking at upwards of 2000 pounds.
Filing down teeth may be ok if it is not a lot that needs to come off, but it can make the tooth sensitive to cold/hot. Get advice on that.
If your teeth are getting crooked with age it can sometimes be a sign of gum disease, in which case you would want to get that sorted before you have braces. The other cause can be wisdom teeth coming through and pushing forward. A good check-up with a dentist will spot all of these things, and is worth getting before going down the braces route.
Hope this all helps!
Reply:Hi! I don%26#039;t know where you are when you say you are abroad, but while you are abroad you could pay a visit to a good cosmetic dentist in Hungary. Dental care over there is really outstanding and far more advanced than in the UK. And as a bonus, you could get all your dental work done there for a fraction of a price in the UK. I can recommend you a brilliant dentist, who did my brothers teeth. He was so impressed with the work that, being a computer genius, he fixed the dentist%26#039;s personal computer for free!

Teeth cleaning programme for an adult with SLD?
I am looking for a form of teeth cleaning programme for young adults who have SLD%26#039;s, and so far is refusing to open their mouths. I am loathed to go down the route of forcing a mouth prop in to clean their teeth, as this is most distressful. Has anyone any ideas?
I like to buy some chewable toothbrushes or even flavoured toothpaste (that isn%26#039;t minty) to try and encourage his brushing.

The chewable toothbrushes you see in motorway services are available to buy online from:

It seems that there are also chewable tablets but I only found this link by accident while looking for fuzzybrushes for you so I don%26#039;t know what they are like:

As for toothpaste there are lots of childrens%26#039; toothpastes available in fruit flavours at most supermarkets.
Hope this is useful.
Reply:SLD???
Reply:UNFORTUNATELY, IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE YOUR ONLY ALTERNATIVE MIGHT BE MOUTH PROPS.

The only place I%26#039;ve seen chewable tooth brushes is in vending machies at pubs and motorway services. Maybe if you spoketo someone like Welcome Break they could put you onto the suppliers?

How many teeth do adult house cats have?
Cats have 30 teeth, each especially designed for biting, slicing, and stabbing. The teeth are arranged so a cat can sever a rodents spine with the presicion of a surgeon. The large canine teeth let him grab his prey with enough force to kill it. The molars work like scissors to cut prey into bite size pieces. Their mouths are adapted for meat eating. They can,t move their mouths sideways so they are unable to grind or chew the food with their mouths closed like humans. Thats why they always chew on larger pieces of food with the side of their mouth cutting off smaller pieces and swallowing the pieces whole. Kittens baby teeth get replaced by permanent ones start at about six months. There will be a full set of permanent ones by nine months.

I got braces on 3 months ago as an adult and my teeth hurt all the time is this normal?
Orthodontist is highly recommended. He put a new kind of wire on my bottom teeth that make them move faster but they hurt all the time. My top teeth have the ceramic braces and they are not so bad. Anyone with same issues?
I got braces on 3 months ago as an adult and my teeth hurt all the time is this normal?
Yes, unfortuately it is pretty normal for them to hurt. I survived 4 long years of braces and hated every minute of it but in the end, you will be very happy that your teeth are straight. If the pain is like EXCRUCIATING, then you should probably talk to your orthodontist about it but yes, there is usually some pain involved with braces.
Reply:yeah
Reply:uh yeah. thats normmal.
Reply:it shouldnt hurt all the time maybe you should talk to your orthadontix about that but you should fell pressure b/c of the movement of the teeth and when you eat fot the first couple of weeks you are goingt to feel pain and be uncomfortable but it well pass with time
Reply:Unfortunately, yes.
Reply:I think it is, but just in case, talk to your orthodontist.
Reply:seems that he has really tightened them up to speed the straightening process, if they are really bugging you, you will have to have them loosened, but only slightly as they won%26#039;t work. look ahead to your lovley pearly whites. good luck
Reply:yes it is normal. About the time it starts feeling better they will need tighten and you have to go through the same discomfort again. It gets better when you teeth get used to it. If you have severe swelling then you need to let your dentist be aware.
Reply:That new wire probably is the problem. Anytime they tighten the wires it hurts until the teeth move into position. The pain should be less a few days after your appointment then when the orthodontist readjusts them they will hurt again. Remember you have to move the teeth, the ones that have been in that spot for a long time. Be patient, take some Motrin and the result when finished is great.
Reply:Moving your teeth to a new position will hurt some. Moving them faster will cause them to hurt more.
Try taking tylenol or ibuprofen to help with the pain.
Reply:It stops hurting after a while once you get used to them.
Reply:Oh yeah it is normal all right, now i am only 14 but i have had braces for 2 1/2 years! For the first...um...5 months they will hurt every time u get your bands and wires changed. After that your teeth become more accustomed to changeing and moving so it wont hurt as much, but they will hurt again when they make big movments. Then when you get rubber bands the hurt like hell, but only for the first month or so. All in all it is a short term pain for long term relief! I hope to get mine off this summer! after 2 1/2 years i am SO ready for it! And hopefully soonger than 2 1/2 years your smile will also be PERFECT! good luck!
Reply:I%26#039;ve had braces, and this is COMPLETELY normal. The pain will eventually wear off within days. You may feel throbbing. You may be able to sense your pulse through your gums. You should feel pain each time your brackets are tightened, or if you have invisalign, you will feel more pain when you switch to a new set. Stock up on Jello, mashed potatoes, and Advil. You%26#039;re going to need it!!! BTW, NEVER QUIT WEARING YOUR RETAINER! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
Reply:if you get braces as adults then it will hurt more because of how everything stops growing after a teen. Your stuck unless you really use force to move those teeth! Now whenever my doctor tightens my braces they start to hurt in about 1 hour. it hurt so much i didn%26#039;t feel like eating for 3 weeks. I had to chew the food very slow and drink a lot of fluids to make me full. if it%26#039;s too tight and you feel sick or if it still hurting after a couple of weeks then talk to your orthodontist.

Reply:Yeah, they%26#039;re just moving, which causes pain. Your teeth will probably go through phases where they really hurt, and then stop hurting. This is normal, so don%26#039;t worry.
Reply:I am a dentist.
No, it is not normal. It us, unfortunately, common. Of course, it depends on what you mean by %26quot;all the time%26quot;.
That %26quot;move faster%26quot; business is just plain false. More force cannot make teeth move faster. There is either enough force to make teeth move, or their isn%26#039;t.
To understand why teeth hurt when you get braces, you need to know a little about dental anatomy. Teeth don%26#039;t sit directly in the bone. They are supported by something called the periodontal ligament (PDL), which actually allows the tooth to flex a little. Compress this PDL, and like any other area of the body it will bruise and get sore. That%26#039;s why your teeth will have a dull ache after the orthodontist adjusts your braces.
Teeth don%26#039;t move because the braces are dragging them through the bone as you would drag a pole through water. Orthodontic movements occur because enough of a force is being applied to stimulate the bone to remodel around the tooth: bone is resorbed in front of the tooth, and bone is built-up behind the tooth as the tooth moves. This process requires just the right amount of force.
It is likely that your orthodontist has either recently tightened your braces, or that he has tightened them too much at the last visit and now too much force is being applied to the teeth, causing what is known as %26quot;undermining resorption%26quot;, which is often painful. In either case, as the teeth move into their new positions, the force on the teeth will decrease, inflammation will decrease, and you%26#039;ll be more comfortable.

What could cause an adult male dogs teeth to fall out/wear off?
We found a dog today who looks pretty young. His other teeth are ok, but his front teeth, top and bottom between the canines look like some have fallen out and it almost looks like someone took a grinder to them--What could have caused this? We don%26#039;t want to put up signs to find his family if he%26#039;s being abused-is there any kind of disorder or anything he could be doing himself to literally wear his teeth off??
What could cause an adult male dogs teeth to fall out/wear off?
Please take him into your veterinarian as soon as possible for a thorough check up. I do not know of any condition that would cause the incisors to wear down that way under normal circumstances... and depending on how far down they are, it must be excruciating to the dog.
Many dogs and cats do develop periodontal disease which can cause teeth to become loose, cracked, and even fall out, but it is the premolars and molars who are affected first. Dogs chew with their back teeth, not the incisors between the canines, so I highly doubt this is simply from chewing on toys.
A thorough physical exam will help to ditermine if this is an abuse case. Ask for a fecal exam, dental, and skin check as well. This will help to detirmine if the dog has internal parasites like worms, or external parasites like mites and lice which are common in dogs who have been neglected. A blood test may help to pinpoint any diseases, but precautionary vaccinations would be best to have done.
If this turns out to be an abuse case or case of neglect, I would probably keep the dog or find it a good home after a two week period, if no signs or notices for a lost dog are put up by the owners. If abuse is ruled out by the vet, ask your vet and other local veterinarians to put up flyers in their offices, and contact local humane groups and animal control to alert them to the fact you%26#039;ve taken in a lost dog and if the owner should call to please direct him or her to you.
If you want to put up flyers, i suggest leaving details such as a photograph, or description out so the person claiming to be the rightful owner can describe him to you and give you details that prove his or her identity to be true.
I wish you the best of luck, and thank you for opening your arms to a lost soul.

Reply:Possibly from chewing a crate or fence. Many puppymill dogs grind their front teeth down to nubs on their crates, trying to gnaw their way out.
If he%26#039;s not a mill dog my guess he has just tried (and probably managed) to chew his way out of a crate.
If you don%26#039;t want to put up signs at least check the %26quot;lost%26quot; column in the local paper; or put an ad that says %26quot;found dog%26quot; and ask for a description of the dog and maybe they will tell you about the teeth, volunteer why they are that way.
Reply:well I don%26#039;t belive that anything besides abuse could lead to that because i don%26#039;t think that dogs grind their teeth but just to be safe i would take him to the vet straight away so he could be looked at to be sure that he doesn%26#039;t lose any more teeth.
Reply:There once was a dog who lived with an owner, ran off for 9 months, and then they found him again.
He could of been trying to find food, chewing of anything really hard to get it ... steel, bone, rock
Try going back to where he was and look for any clues to see what might of happened. If you don%26#039;t find anything wrong, hang up signs that you found a dog, and look in the ads under lost pets.
Reply:Some pets that have separation anxiety or chew on their cage will develop large abrasive wear facets on the crown of the tooth (blue arrow). This greatly weakens the tooth making it prone to fracture. A three-quarter crown can protect the tooth from further damage and likely fracture.
Reply:I would take him to a vet just to see what they think about the teeth. Maybe they did fall out , but if it looks like they had a grinder taken to them that%26#039;s weird. I would have said maybe a vet took them out but if they are partially there yet like grinded away that would raise a red flag for me too. If the vet see%26#039;s no foul play like the owners could have taken a grinder to them then put up flyers and get the dog back to the owner but if you have a gut feeling I would keep him or take him to a local no kill shelter.
Reply:We had a dog whose teeth wore flat from paying with tennis balls so much. Is it possible that this pooch likes to play tug? Rough ropes might wear his teeth down. It%26#039;s also possible that he chewed his way out of somewhere if he%26#039;s running free. Could you have a vet look at him to be sure?
Reply:He may have chewed him self free from a bad situation that is why his teeth may have fallen out and worn down.
Reply:This can be cause by his chewing on something very hard like a chain, or on a cage or even on the links of a fence. Or he could just be loosing his puppy teeth and he will be getting in his adult teeth soon. If he is loosing his puppy teeth then he%26#039;s about 5 to 6 months old.
Reply:It could be just from genetics. More likely he is a chewer. Whether it was chewing out of enclosure or just his toys. I highly doubt it is abuse.
You should take him to a vet to have him scanned to see if he has a microchip implanted, then put up signs and let the humane society know you have him. I%26#039;m sure his family misses him!
Reply:Some people are perfectly nice to their dogs but don%26#039;t brush their dog%26#039;s teeth. This could be it.
Reply:If the dog is skinny, than he or she was prob. chewing on anything that smelled good, old bones, dirt where something was spilled ,etc.but hard toys like cow hocks will do the same.
Reply:It won%26#039;t cost you a thing to go bye a shelter or vet%26#039;s office to see if it looks like abuse to them. You sound like a good person so protect the dog he needs you. Thanks M.M.

Thanks M.M.

Take your dog to a vet for a dental exam. Poor dental health leads to other health problems, including heart disease...
Reply:if it is a major concern of yous call the vet and take for a check up your vet will be happy to help you
Reply:When you take him in for a check up the vet can look at his teeth. They are probably fine. Some dogs have bites that cause their teeth to grind.
Reply:You%26#039;ll have to get the vet to take a look at the teeth, see what%26#039;s going on in there.
Reply:At 5 years old he is transitioning into his upper middle age, regardless of what you think about his teeth, he should be getting annual check ups with your vet. If his teeth have never been brushed and he doesn%26#039;t get chew treats to help keep them clean, I would bet a stack of money that he%26#039;s got some nasty build up on his teeth and needs them cleaned before they abscess (if they aren%26#039;t already)
Please have him looked at, and pay a little more attention to oral health, it%26#039;s extremely important to him. Think about what your teeth would look like if you didn%26#039;t brush them for 5 whole years, and keep in mind that oral infection will spread to the jawbone and bloodstream, which can carry it to the heart, kidneys, and other bones.
Reply:If he is breaking or losing teeth, something is wrong and your vet needs a look. That%26#039;s not normal for a young dog such as your poodle.
Reply:Your poodle may be experiencing mouth pain. Small breeds tend to have teeth problems, specifically periodontal disease. He won%26#039;t choke on his teeth (he didn%26#039;t when he lost his puppy teeth, did he?), but he could be at risk in other areas. Periodontal disease is very dangerous in that it affects many parts of the animal%26#039;s body. Think about all the bacteria that he is swallowing, especially if his teeth are deteriorated enough to allow an abscess to form in his mouth. The bacteria can affect all his major organs (heart, kidneys, etc.). Imagine if you never brushed your teeth - yuck! If you haven%26#039;t had a reputable veterinarian give a good oral exam, please do so immediately. I know this sounds odd, but a 5 year old poodle will soon be entering the %26quot;geriatric%26quot; years. A visit to the veterinarian is in order - a pair of trained eyes can make a huge difference. A good blood screen to check for organ function and then a thorough dental cleaning will be well worth the expense. Your poodle will not only be more comfortable, but you will be able to enjoy many more years with him. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Good luck!
Reply:When your dog makes the same noise again, take a closer look. Check all his front nails if he is bitting it or what. My pinscher used to bite her own nails %26amp; it sound like grinding. That%26#039;s why I don%26#039;t need to cut all her nails.
